"The Entity's Hunger" - A Potential New Way To End Matches

Just some thoughts that occured to me about how maybe matches ending could be a bit smoother and more consistently satisfying for the playerbase, because I've been thinking back to that old "Finishing Mori" PTB.

For anyone unfamiliar, the PTB had various antislugging features, but its flagship feature was, if all Survivors were downed, there would be a blood wave effect on the screen and smash cut to the Killer doing a Mori on a Survivor, ending the match.

This feature was bad, I'm glad it never got added, but it did have some pros, like being more thematic & satisfying than the Surrender system, and I think some parts of it could be incorporated into a new feature.

The Feature: Entity's Hunger

Under certain conditions, a manifestation of the Entity's Hunger appears in the basement. Some mass of glowing claws popping out of one of the walls far from the stairs. When it appears, both Killers and Survivors get a loud noise notification.

The Killer can activate the Entity's Hunger by walking into the wall of claws, triggering the Entity's Feast, instantly sacrificing all Survivors akin to the Endgame Collapse. If the Endgame Collapse is already active, the EGC instead begins progressing 50% faster, giving Survivors at most 90 seconds to escape.

The Entity's Hunger appears under any of the following conditions:

  • If the Killer can Surrender (Note: I'm of the opinion that the 10 minutes with no Generator surrender should be a Draw rather than a Killer loss, but if we want we can still consider this a "loss" for MMR purposes or something, even if it would be weird in this situation)
  • All Survivors in the match have been in the Dying State/hooked/dead for at least 25 seconds straight
  • An Exit Gate has been opened

The Entity's Hunger can vanish if its conditions stop being true. (which is only important for the second condition)

The ideal for this is:

  • Allowing Killers to "Abandon" matches, without needing to terminate the whole match because BHVR can't make AI bots for every Killer in the game
  • Allow Killers to skip searching for slugged Survivors if they aren't Surrendering, or waiting for Survivors to leave via the gates if it's clear the game is lost
  • Provides Survivors and Killers a certain degree of reactable choice rather than the railroad that was the Finishing Mori. If a Survivor has a way of picking themselves up, great, they've got at least 20 seconds to try it, if a Killer wants to give the last Survivor hatch, they have the choice

It's not intended to replace the Surrender system, but instead be a supplement and sometimes alternative to it. I think it would suck if Killers could Surrender and smash cut everyone into postgame chat the moment Survivors opened the Exit Gates, but I think a Killer queueing up in the basement waiting, then immediately leaving into the Hunger so they can go queue up to a new match, could fit into the game better.

Would like to know what other people think about trying ideas like this, or if they're mostly happy with Surrender as is and would like BHVR to leave well enough alone?

    Sounds awesome.

All Survivors in the match have been in the Dying State/hooked/dead for at least 25 seconds straight

I might suggest you change this to 35s, as Unbreakable is 23.70s and Plot Twist is 25.6s to recover. If there are ever any other perks that allow a self pick up at the regular recovery rate, the speed is 32s. Admittedly the scenarios this could go wrong are quite unrealistic, but it is possible.

But otherwise, sounds pretty good man!
