Got some questions and would like some advice.
New player here, only recently started playing about a week ago whenever I've had some free time. I tend to jump between the roles since I kind of want to experience both sides. I am also a console player. Anyway, I'll get to the questions.
- Does it matter what survivor I pick or is it purely cosmetic? I tend to play as Bill but I do notice a good chunk of survivors tend to play the same survivors so just curious on that end.
- Is there any way to deal with the blinding effect as a killer? I can't find anything in the settings to make it less painful and it gets discouraging when I'm already struggling trying out a killer and lose focus because of it. It's a bit too much if I'm honest but that's just a me problem.
- Is there any DLC I should maybe focus on getting? I do have my eyes on a couple because I really like the character design for them (Nemesis and Demogorgon).
- Finally, how long would it take to prestige on average? I know roughly I need to try and prestige characters to at least 1 but preferably 3 so perks are at their peak.
Thanks in advance!

- Cosmetic and perks only.
- You can use lightborn or try to find specific shaders. There are no way to make blind effect less agressive within game.
- Artist, Nemesis, Plague, Clown, DeathSlinger has the best killer perks. The best meta is on basic survivors, but you can buy Halloween DLC to get Decisive Strike from Laurie. I advise prestige Meg, Kate, Feng, Dwight, Zarina, Bill and Claudette first of all. Resident Evil and Halloween is the only chapters you may consider to buy at this point. If you want play killer more I advise RE, if survivor then Halloween.
- Nothing clear here, depends how much BP u usually can get. Ideally prestige everyone to one to get teachable perks and then focus on your favourite.
I will leave you one useful link to watch as well with basically every basic. Welcome to the fog.

Thanks for the information. I'll probably grab the pack with Nemesis soon and might look into the others you mentioned. I also need to get around to getting Lightborn for everyone so that'll be my utmost priority.

The characters probably matter more as a beginner as you wouldn't have unlocked many perks yet, so it's up to you to weigh up what survivor is best based on what perks pick your fancy until you can prestige characters and start playing with builds. Killers are best chosen over their powers first, perks second

- Survivors are cosmetics, but some can be louder than others when injured. Against Killers like Spirit, it can be a disadvantage but you can use the perk Iron Will if you want your survivor to be quiet. For example, I find Claire Redfield skin very loud and irritating to listen to when she is injured for too long. With Iron Will I feel safe playing her.
- The perk Lightborn of Hillbilly can help. Level him up to be able to use his perks with other Killers you play.
- There's a ton of DLC in the game so it doesn't really matter what you get first. You can buy perks on the Shrine every week before it changes. I buy perks from there instead of buying characters. It can take months for a specific perk to show up though.
- This can take several hours to a day, depending on how long you play and how much blood points you have to spend. I recommend completing the tome challenges for the blood points rewards, and remember the daily log-in rewards.
Feel free to reach out if you need any more help!
