DBD needs fixes

The gameplay experience lately has become really frustrating. When the killer decides to camp hooks and tunnel from the start, the match loses all meaning and becomes boring for everyone. It’s a shame that a game with so much potential is being affected by these behaviors, which ultimately hurt the community as a whole.

If I’m not mistaken, a lot of players have stopped playing because of this, and now killer queue times are longer than ever. And instead of addressing the main issue, it feels like the system is trying to compensate by throwing off the matchmaking. I end up in matches with people who are literally playing their first game, which makes it impossible to coordinate or finish generators.

What’s worse is that it’s not fair to new players either: they get placed in completely unbalanced matches, get frustrated, and can’t learn properly. Many of them end up quitting as well. This creates a vicious cycle where the overall skill level feels completely mismatched, and neither veterans nor beginners enjoy the game.

I really hope steps are taken to improve matchmaking and reduce the impact of tactics that ruin the experience, because this game — and its community — deserve better.

Now try 10 matches with one killer before writing this. I came back after the break to try it out and it was like I was in a Formula 1 race.

I’m not sure why you’re saying that, to be honest. I play both killer and survivor, and as killer I usually have no trouble securing a 4K when I really want to. Sometimes I even let someone go because I’m just trying to enjoy the match. I genuinely don’t have any complaints about playing killer — if anything, there are moments when I get hits that feel a bit unfair, and since I know how frustrating that can be as a survivor, I’ll let them go just that once. Next time, though, no promises, haha.

What I mean is: I don’t think killer is in a bad spot. If you know your power well, you can do really well, and when survivors play smart it actually makes the match more fun and engaging. Things like teabagging or flashlight saves are part of the learning process — getting upset over them doesn’t help anyone. A good killer knows not to pick up a survivor right in front of someone with a flashlight, and there are always walls and camera angles you can use to avoid that.

In the end, it’s all about learning, improving, and keeping the game enjoyable for everyone.

Well, I wouldn't say killer queue times are long because of camping and tunneling. That was simply always a thing and used to be stronger than now.

You can easily find several other factors. I have stopped because of Kaneki, Krasue and pallet density nerf finished it.

Camping is not really any issue imo. Just buff soloQ and give them information so they can play around it better.

Tunneling is an issue, if killer does it from start, but not really easy thing to fix. You simply can't remove it completely unless you want to rebalance whole game, which devs are not capable of doing. And it's not like 5 seconds extra endurance is low value….

This patch would be fine, if they didn't nuke pallets.

But otherwise yeah, match making in DBD is not good. MMR is joke of a system. Not like I believe DBD should have strict match making, I think old ranks would be good enough with some adjustments.

The problem is the new people who treat DBD as if it's their favorite comp shooter such as Valorant (or whatever game zoomers are nolifing nowadays). They see tunneling as an oversight rather than an intended mechanic and want daddy BHVR to completely remove it. You still got brainlets repeating that 9.2.0 PTB was fine, that it just needed slight changes. All the while calling veterans who've played since release skilless noobs who don't understand DBD. This happened to quite a few games in the past few years.

Veteran with 10k hours: "This update is a bad idea, here's why..."

Some zoomer who installed a week ago: "Umm but how come I can 12 hook while scrolling tiktok and huffing galaxy gas? Skill issue much?"

Oh, cool, you brought up gameplay and my skills. So maybe you could learn how to use perks against tunneling and camping? It's not that hard.

Not every veteran agrees with you. A lot of long-time players have actually stopped playing because of what you call an “intended mechanic.” Good killers don’t need to tunnel to win — and I’m happy to prove that anytime. If I want to 4K, I can. And if I decide to play fair, I can let someone run right in front of me until hooks are balanced, and I still have plenty of time to finish the match.

So if someone needs to tunnel from minute one to secure kills, maybe the “noob” isn’t the new players after all.

And honestly, the way you talk doesn’t really reflect the maturity of someone with thousands of hours. Being a veteran doesn’t excuse disrespect. There are many experienced players who give feedback without belittling others.

At the end of the day, we all want the game to be better. Dismissing every opinion that isn’t yours as “zoomers who don’t understand DBD” doesn’t help anyone.
