Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Why i think that i don't feel motivated to play anymore

I feel like it's because i don't find a majority of the games content likable anymore. I've lost motivation to engage with a variety of characters and/or perks leading me to always play the same way every few days before i get bored in like 1-5 matches.

I really wanted to be good at every killer and i tried to give them all a fair chance but i came to the conclusion many of them ultimately make you play in ways that aren't fun or are just not rewarding enough. Also, a lot of them feel very outdated and many of them don't have any interesting add-ons which is an important part of killer gameplay in my opinion because it affects their playability and accessibility greatly. I also think original killers have been majorly disappointing in the past… 3 years? compared to licensed killers. They are just straight up not very fun. Krasue as of recent is really not very enjoyable for either side imo and her nerfs have not done much but restrict her playstyle.

Perks. I appreciate that the devs have been trying to balance perks more over the past few years but it's still just far too easy to know what the best perks are. Sometimes a patch comes out and shakes up the meta a little but i can often figure out what the best builds are within hours.

There's also no incentive to play a variety of survivors or care about their backstories. Every time a survivor other than my mains get a cosmetic i get annoyed because its more content that isn't convenient for me to engage with due to the way leveling and inventories work on survivors (it encourages you to pick favourites)

I find that playing in repetitive ways is boring because it becomes too easy. But not doing that is very frustrating and or boring. I'm hoping maybe if MMR gets a decent rework i will feel a competitive drive to play again but i also think there's a risk of pushing me away completely. Idk… maybe i im getting bored of the game. But is that really acceptable for a live service game?

I hate to sound doom and gloom, but year 6 was the tipping point for DBD. A lot of decisions that were poor and did not benefit the game, which was immediately noticeable. After years of trying to smooth that mess out, we had this year—the year of health, which was actually a year of high hopes and broken promises.

Year 5 felt like the game was stale but very playable and very unpredictable at times. Now year 10 will likely feel like the game is about seeing who can trigger the abandon system first.

I know that there is this consensus that we should not lay blame at the doorstep of those creating these issues, but I will say that if things don't shape up, they will only get worse. Deathgarden/Meet Your Maker worse? I don't know. But I genuinely think most of us here will have to find ways to convince ourselves to even engage at all anymore. In my opinion, as always.

I think BHVR relies too heavily on licenses keeping the playerbase up rather than good gameplay. To me, the game feels like it punishes you for trying to do anything synergistic or taking advantage of your opponent's mistakes. Which is why I just haven't played it since last year. Sometimes I think about redownloading the game and play a match, but then I remember that none of the reasons I stopped playing has changed so there's no point.

The other thing is matchmaking. The focus on making sure queues are as quick as possible just leads to the most unbalanced matches being the ones you play most often and those games just are not fun.

I am taking a break myself atm, been playing Minecraft with the lads and going through Dark Souls another time.

Reason? Well honestly so disappointed we never got anything tangible to solve tunneling, not even a comeback mechanic to make it less useful. The fact that measures against tunneling failed to come is just flat out bad.

Tho I doubt BHVR is out, I am for a while.

Ill return to play with Henry thats for sure, but I cannot enjoy survivor at all in its current state.

The best news I could hear from BHVR right now would be that they implement a perk randomizer as a base feature.
But that's just me who would like that I think.

I am currently on break too.

My main issue is simply the Ghoul. There is lot of them and I refuse to play against him.
Waiting several minutes queue time just to stop caring about the game in first 10 seconds is not really interesting, so it's better for me to not play at all.

Overall devs did some really not smart things in last year. Whole Operation revert was so bad…

From new killers, I like Animatronic, but who the hell designed Ghoul/Krasue (I expected it was same group of devs). Oh look, Chucky's vault is one of most hated things we have seen in past years, let's give vault to more killers…

Houndmaster was by biggest disappointed yet as a killer main, I was so hyped for doggy.

I played the game too much, got all the achievements and challenges (when they were a thing) ages ago. Ive prestiged like 9 characters to p100 and 8 of those are licensed because i just dont feel that attatched to any originals besides skull merchant. So i often feel like i have nothing left to play for, not even bloodpoints, as the game ismt "fun" most of the time.

Whats really getting me these days is the quality control. Like when castlevania chapter came out my expectation was more than one survivor as there were lots of men and women in the games. What we got was the version of trevor thats just an unlockable character in 1 ps2 game (whos personality was probably the worst belmont). And then they took alllllllll the other characters and made bulk cosplays rather than occasional legendaries like silent hill and resident evil, thus throwing my favorite characters from the franchise in at like 25% quality and its bugged me since. Now every other time they do a legendary there is something wrong even with the whole community giving feedback, rick / daryls screams and grunts have yet to be changed as everyone thought they were just ptb placeholders. Richters face is so off from the character it might as well be from another franchise. Maggie's face had glitching during mories and green armpits in certain lighting. And yet none of those things seem to be getting fixed, and my favorite characters now wont ever come to the game simply because the cheap cosplays exist.

Then theres the constant downgrading of rewards making events even more depressing and the complete nerf to p100s getting event offerings
