Cosmetic Purchase Regret: A Cross-Progression Tale

Before I say anything… YES, this is entirely my fault, but please allow me to tell my cautionary tale.

I have played DBD on both PS5 and PC… before cross-progression existed… so naturally I own a crazy mix of survivors and cosmetics across platforms. Recently, I started playing again on PS5 with a friend. Life was good.

Then I saw an outfit for Renato.

Cute pants? ✅
Little crop top showing off his heroic, mid-trial physique? ✅
Me, ready to absolutely lose focus in my next match? ✅

So I buy it. I’m thrilled. Excited. Let's go! I rush to equip it.

…only to discover that I do not actually own Renato on PS5.

Turns out I own the man on PC and his clothes on PS5. We are currently in a long-distance relationship.

Now, maybe this is secretly genius marketing. “Buy the drip first, survivor later.” Or maybe most people are not as impressively dumb as I am. Either way, it would be really helpful if the store popped up a warning like: "HEY, IDIOT! YOU DON’T OWN THIS SURVIVOR."

I am now stuck waiting on cross-progression support, separated from Renato and his crop top, staring at a cosmetic I cannot equip…

Suggestion:

Please add some kind of indicator that you don’t own the survivor or killer before purchasing cosmetics for them. I know not many people probably do this (LOL), but for those of us living dangerously and clicking “Buy” with confidence… it would save lives. Or at least outfits.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
