Please do something about survivor items disabling the lobby animations!

Over the years theyve been making a ton of cool idle animations for survivors in the lobby. However these do not play if you are holding an item which is a massive shame imo. Theres no reason why this should be the case, at least in the matchmaking lobby.

I think an elegant solution would be to be like springtrap, whenever he does the screaming in the lobby, he drops his knife and it fades away but then re-appears quickly after. I feel like something similar should be done for survivors.

I’d love to see the survivor lobby idles too, but there’s a hidden tech cost.

Right now, when a survivor equips an item the game swaps to an “item-in-hand” state that suppresses the idle Animation Montage.

To show idles with items, BHVR would have to author item-aware idles or an additive idle layer for every survivor skeleton, then keep the prop aligned to the correct socket throughout the pose. That means per-pose socket offsets, IK or masking to prevent clipping with coats, backpacks, long sleeves, etc., and extra QA across all cosmetics. If you add lobby SFX hooks, that matrix grows again.

None of this is impossible, it’s just time-heavy and doesn’t really move business metrics compared to new skins or DLC, so it likely falls down the queue while they focus on higher-impact work.

I sometimes don't take items just to have my pose. I love my cup of coffee on Sable and Tauries pose
