Killer side feedback: current state of DBD is not fun anymore

Dear developers,
this post is addressed to you, and not because I feel entitled to anything, but because I would genuinely appreciate a response from your side.

At the moment, Dead by Daylight has become almost unplayable on the killer side. Realistically, there are only three killers that can have a chance to win: Kaneki, Blight and Nurse (obviously with the right perks).

Matches are ending way too fast. You start a chase and, even if you play well and down the survivor quickly, three generators are already gone.
We’re talking about 90 seconds, 40 pallets per match, and a single survivor can easily drop 7–8 strong pallets. By the time you look for another survivor, more gens are completed. One more chase and… that’s it. Game over. GG easy.

Perks meant to slow down generators are basically useless now.
You can’t tunnel, otherwise you get hit by Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Off the Record, plus pallets and flashlight saves (especially with that other unbalanced perk, Background Player).
You can’t camp either, because “OMG unfair”, and now survivors can just unhook themselves for free.

So my honest question to you is:
👉 What is a killer supposed to do to have fun?

I would really like you to play 100 matches as killer in the current state of the game.
How many do you actually win?
Do you have fun?

And I’d like you to reply under this post with real statistics:

  • win rate percentages
  • average match duration

Because with all these perk combinations and generator speed, the game is simply unplayable on the killer side.

When I play survivor, it’s the opposite:
I sit on a generator, 5 gens get done, 0 kills for most killers, and we go home.
Solo queue, easy life.

If you want people to keep playing this game, then it’s time to get to work and seriously balance it.

My only complaint about killer (besides console woes) is Vigil. The perk just messes with way too many things, and it enables the extremely boring 99 Sprint Burst every 30 (or less) seconds meta. I have no idea how it's been allowed to exist for this long.

this and Finesse are honestly my only big gripes. Having to outplay SB, Finesse, and then Entity block a window makes a lot of m1 killers feel like such a chore, especially when the whole lobby does the exact same thing. makes me miss the interaction I'd get from survivors playing with old WGLF+ Mft at least then I'm hitting people.

Sorry but I just don't believe that at all.

I think where we're at is pretty obvious—Killer is encouraged to get ahead via camping/tunneling/slugging and then when they hit a wall against players that actually do stand a chance against that (and often still lose anyway), then we start calling for buffs. Survivors have adapted for the last 4 years and now gens are flying because they've learned how to at least try to keep up. If all Killer can do on that front is play a busted Killer, then maybe they should try to adapt as well.

Or maybe, just maybe, we can admit that everyone seemed to enjoy the game more when everything was busted and RNG affected every element of the game. That maybe focusing on wins and coddling the side that makes more money wasn't the best idea. Or maybe that's just me.

There are also Hold W maps. It bores me to no end.

disagree with original post. I solo or duo queue as survivor frequently, and most killers (regardless of character) have a great chance of winning.

The reason for why killer has felt so miserable is due to the balance of power being slowly shifted over the years.

Gen regression used to be viable now most gen regression perks are bad/incompatible. On the flip side Gen progression perks have become more available with new good progression perks which far out weigh Gen regression in terms of value.

Chase perks have also had a boost and are extremely powerful against slow killers with perks like vigil or ghost notes with Sprint burst, dramaturgy, lithe … and so on with low down times making slow killers so painful to play leading to perks like bamboozle become pretty much mandatory for a lot of M1 killers.

Healing has shifted so much over the years killer anti-heal has been reduced heavily while surv healing has been massively boosted with so many options for whatever your fancy be it a soloq build or a communicated team one with the only killers being able to deal with the builds are either built around it like plague and legion or just strong enough they can force through it like blight or nurse.

Base kit additions over the years have also made things worse as before surv had to think and take care about things like macro v micro play while today macro play is completely hated slugging is seen as evil, tunnelling is also bad and playing a killer that leans into a more macro playstyle like knight is also hated resulting in nurfs to killers like knight, base kit additions like 15sec hook protection, insanely fast anti camp bars (also giving free info), extra HUD info, 8 gen event limit, hook grabs being removed and a lot of maps being extremely dense with resources like windows and pallets being a bit too abundant/powerful.

Leading to current day DBD where in order to keep up people resort to using strong killers like blight in order to have a chance at winning.

Well, I kinda disagree with you OP.

My games are barely any entertaining and I don't really play s-tiers.
I just win as a killer most of the time and it's just not fun.

I win too, but it’s honestly really tough even with killers like Nurse and Blight. And then we’re talking about high ranks — at high ranks it’s basically unplayable.
