Blight Nerfs Confirmed
Today on the live stream Devs confirmed Blight will be receiving these nerfs.
Devs are actually listening to Community feedback and Momos 2k Winstreak and this is great step towards a healthier DBD

My biggest pet peeve in DBD is being matched up against this killer and knowing we don't stand a chance of winning. Finally, this beast is going to get nerfed.

Good Blights will still shred but now there is time to punish misplays and the overall speed is downtuned given how strong the power is. Great shtuff, BHVR.

Blight players will now need to HEAVILY relate on their power since he's gonna be 4.4 m/s

Blight has a power that grants him strong map traversal and it's usable in chase to down a survivor. That's what he was always supposed to be about but bad blights would just 4.6 you down when they couldn't get you with power

Its funny that good survivor groups are apparantly so rare theyre an gigantic outlier and shouldnt be considered that much for balance. Meanwhile people cant stop citing that 1 guy as reason to nerf blight.

Because he isn't close to being the only one running 4 slowdowns + double speed add ons on Blight and winstreaking. I've asked many in end game chat questions like "what's your winstreak up to" or "have you lost a match today". the answers are usually 30-100 wins and "well a really good team almost got to 1 gen earlier".

And instead of thinking it might be smart to limit, for example, the number of perks of the same “type” to X instead of allowing players to stack 4… they’d rather nerf a killer. Brilliant.
I don’t know why, but I don’t think a Blight going on a winstreak is doing it with no perks, or with random perks.
But hey, what can you do—it’s trendy to base decisions on the results of a single Blight in the game to conclude he’s too strong, while carefully avoiding the idea that maybe the survivors are just too bad.

I'm not sure about balancing this killer around the top like %1 of best blights.. this will kill him for the %99 rest who weren't even too good with him.. but we shall see how this goes.

Where does the idea come from that hard tunneling with 4 slowdowns with the best killer against ill prepared teams, makes said player the best blight? It just makes said player dedicated to the lowest effort for highest reward strategy. If they can’t consistently beat players who are as dedicated and equally prepared/skilled as they are, they aren’t the best now are they? When you actually break down that win streak, you’ll see that nearly 40% of those wins come from people giving up/dcing and only a small percentage of the remains percentage are teams who know who and what they are facing.

I'm okay with 4.4 m/s from a design standpoint but I'll never be a fan of the losing power on pallet break thing. I think it'd be more interesting for everyone if they just removed the pallet break on rush attacks instead. Also with the added context of these nerfs, changing the power hitbox like they did makes more sense, assuming that was intentional.

idk man it doesn't make sense to me when I compare blight with the other 4.4 killers.. all of them have powers that are extremely oppressive during chases and can work around pallets..even god pallets.. yeah sure blights power also work on some tiles/loops but I don't think anyone would disagree that his power in not as reliable/strong as the other 4.4 killers.. unless they some give him compensative buffs I really don't think he will work at all..

They said on the strean these are not then end of the changes and they could give him compensative buffs/ side grades depending on where he lies after these changes are implemented.

ok in that case there is hope. even though i really think base blight is fine. just his speed addons need to be nerfed. after the trickster "rework" I have to keep my expectations low for blight.

Good blights will shread because its his power thats good and now him being 4,4 means he deserves that power.

This will hopefully put a dent into the force pallet → break pallet → catch up with power → get hit before survivor can make it anywhere playstyle.
A good blight will not be punished too hard, but at least there is an actual punishment to missing your power / breaking a pallet.
It took a long time to get here, but at least we are here at all.

Well, I just worry with their code it will end with rush also being slower, which would be an issue.
Edit: Lilith confirmed his rush speed won't change, so should be fine.

Blights power is strong anti-loop. Its just really hard to use that way. I win against most Blights right now, but against good Blights it feels like a different game and i lose. They get hits in places where im completely save against average ones.
But yh there are some loops which are problematic. So they need to look at that. On the other hand there are high loops with good visibility which completely destroy 4.4 ranged killers. Some have gaps where you can throw/shoot through, but on some of those you need to leave the survivor or waste a lot of time to force the pallet down. So we will see if Blight gets help for some loops.

Finally, why it’s taken them this long is beyond me. I mentioned Blight should be 4.4 years ago here on the forum, and of course, some people told me it would be way too much of a nerf. But no, he needed this change, and he’ll still be one of the best killers in the game. You’re just going to have to be a bit better now and actually be good at using his power instead of missing with it and then relying on your 4.6 speed to catch up and hit them. Good changes.

I wonder what the next killer that Momo uses will be. Because they are gonna get nerfed too. Momo is like a freak athlete for DBD. If they D tiered every killer in the game he would still be on a streak

lets just hope he stays like this, and also that speed addons haste wont stack. then he will be fine, reworking him into a buffed version would be a huge L. after this nerf he would be S tier still but at least he will be easier to handle.

he still needs a tiny bit more imo. i would slightly increase the token recharge to nerf the “i use 2 rushes to injure and only have a 4 second cooldown” playstyle that a lot of blights use. as well as making crow and rat non stackable. with all of these changes, he would still be very strong but not obnoxiously strong like how he is currently.

I am so thankful for this truly.
My question is this though. Blights been out for how long? Why did it take this long to make these 2 adjustments to him. It would have saved the community a lot of pain and suffering if we had done this sooner.

the devs also said this was in the works for a “long time” too. how long does it take for 2 balance adjustments to make it past discussion and into the actual game lmao. they definitely haven’t had this planned for “a long time”, this was just a reaction nerf since blight has been a hot topic of balance recently.

There are people getting close to 2k winstreaks on blight no matter how you look at it he's pretty busted and it seems like he'll still be fine after the nerfs

I’ve been playing Dead by Daylight since 2016, and honestly, I think these changes to Blight are terrible. He already had a strong identity and skill ceiling, and these updates feel like they make him less fun and less rewarding to play. Additionally Making Blight 4.4 would hurt his ability to keep up against (Good)-Survivor Teams. Killer balance should be based on how they perform against competitive survivors, not by weakening them in ways that make them less effective overall. This will also lower player skill expression of the character potentially lowering it pick rate and need learn more about instead of blight feeling fun use he will irritating to play and clucky. also to mention take a decent amount time to master blight and get to a good level unlike Ghoul I. we should be focus on closing gap between Lower killers and A tier killers by buffing the D tiers. I feel that this just another case of nerfing character base on video yt or Momo seven for example look at the Freddy Kruger. Freddy was nerfed before, and then the devs had to buff him back because he was too weak against good survivors and same thing happened with Billy where they introduce a overheat mechanic, it was Hevey nerf to power This undisputed made him became much weaker against good survivors. That why later he got the overcharge mechanic. When killers fall behind at higher levels, buff up so they can stay competitive. Lastly, I love this game, which is exactly why I’m speaking up. I just hope the devas listen to the community with a grain of salt. but seriously Don't do this nerf-12 -
A part of me is worried about the state of his current collision. Quite a few tiles especially ones on the amazingly developed maps where your power just isn't usable. 4.4m/s and zone breaking being nerfed are good changes but I would take another nerf just to get billy size collision.

I do also hope that they will also nerf nurse and ghoul and buff other killers that needs a massive help from devs. This game has above 40 killers and it's not normal that we see only 3 of them constantly in matches. Especially since people are paying for them and then they don't play them at all.

No majority of the community and even Blight mains agree that Blight is busted and Overtuned in the long run when these changes go through will only affect bad blights who rely on 4.6 and zoning after breaking pallets.
We are still going to buff lower tier killers but the Top of the killers needs balancing as well

The point is: The game shouldn't be about only 3 killers over and over the whole game.
What's the point of buying other killers if they're not viable to play?

The solution is simple: buff the weaker killers, leave the stronger ones as they are, and have survivors step up a bit instead of expecting to loop Blight the same way they do against Amanda.
YES, some killers are stronger than others, and YES, against the strongest killers in the roster, survivors will need more speed, efficiency, skill, and game sense than they would against Amanda or Trapper.
But NO, balance shouldn’t be brought downwards. Survivors need to step up too. At some point, they’ll have to understand that against certain killers, they’ll need to be more efficient and won’t have time to admire the scenery or do side objectives like opening chests or breaking totems (even if that’s the kind of gameplay some players would prefer: a game where every killer can be faced brain-off while just holding W).

i honestly don’t get why they’re doing part 1 and part 2 while nerfing him. these part 1 changes will barely change anything about the already good blight players. they should’ve done both parts together so all blight players are nerfed instead of only the less experienced ones.

Like I said: buffing weaker killers is a good starting point. Then, for all those crying that the “evil” Nurse and Blight are OP—we’d love to see your matches on video.
