The point of "People complaining about non-issue stuff"

So I have been reading the forum for a while, and fell on that thread :

And while I understand that this post was mostly made under anger, after several games that did not went so finely, and is not meant to be taken literally, I aligned it with the…consequent…number of others similar posts, from killers or survivors main.

I think there is a deep problem with the "The game offers a billion way to play it, but because some people focuses on the meta / way too strong builds, lambdas are forced to play stuff they do not want to because if they do not, their games are not long enough to be enjoyable, which often leads to frustration because they do not succeed in it".

So they are stuck in playing something that either do not work (and they die faster) or something they do not like (so their game lasts longer but with even lesser fun).

Metas exist because they are strong. Axiom available in every game of the world. Though, feeling forced to play something because if you do not, the game do not exists… first deeply sounds like being taken hostage by the players, and second is not really what's expected in a game showcasing more than twelve millions of possible builds for either sides.

Competition does not help. You win by crushing the other side. The faster, the better. So people make games fast, even if they feel awful for the opposite side.

And I feel like (and read) many people are getting done with it. Done of playing something because the other side use it aggressively. I can bet easily 95% plays at least one thing because it counters a meta. In my personal opinion, I do not think most people actually like playing objective-oriented builds or perks.

Ok, fine. Nice blabling about being nice and so on. Very useful. What do you propose then ?

Just accept to loose. Your build is not the issue. The team you went against, your mood, focus,… blood alcohol level maybe, does though. Being less competitive will maybe mean a bit less rewards for you but way much more fun for everyone.

I know you all played your sharpest and most though-about build… and still lost. Or just tried dumb stuff, and manage to win.

Finally, it also express something. Personally, I am done seeing builds with the same perks over and over. It just break the game's spirit and I do not think Behaviour can really do something about that.

So PUT THAT PAIN RES AND WoO DOWN AND GO GRAB SOMETHING FUNNY TO PLAY !

Honestly meta is only ruining the game for people who play this game with custom win conditions. Even when I get run for 5 gens or go down in my first chase, every game I load into is a game I wanna make sure it's worth playing.

I hate agreeing with you here OP. Sadly it is true that meta are an axiom across all games, and equally each player walks into each match expecting something different for fun. A sweaty killer may go in seeking a 4k or they didn't have fun, a bully-squad may just want to sabo and flashlight the daylights out of the killer or they didn't have fun. Much as I don't particularly care for either of those parties, my enjoyment of the game is not more important than theirs. I'm just not obligate to provide them their custom enjoyment anymore than they are to provide me mine.

Only thing I can do is load up, try to have fun, and accept when the opposition is pursuing their enjoyment in a different fashion from how I do.

First of all, it’s absolutely true that starting a match with only winning in mind is a double-edged sword. If you win, you feel even better—but if you lose, you feel even more frustrated.

Whereas if you start the match with the goal of just having fun and earning Bloodpoints, it immediately feels better.

(That said, a killer who downs everyone or tryhards as if their life depends on it—or even plays just to ruin the survivors’ game—I completely agree that it’s not enjoyable.)

On the other hand, regarding “aggressive” builds:

The developers have introduced the beginnings of something that could become even more interesting.

For those who don’t see what this refers to, we’re talking about the fact that stacking two healing perks (for example) reduces the effectiveness of the weaker one.

We could go much further: make it so that, technically, a player (killer or survivor) simply cannot equip more than two perks of the same “type”: anti-generator, anti-healing, survivor speed, aura reading, totems, etc.

That way, it would force players to diversify their builds and show a bit of creativity, while also reducing the power of certain very aggressive builds.

Moreover, limiting a killer’s strength through perks rather than directly nerfing the killer helps avoid weakening a killer just because “they’re too strong.”

Interestingly, the so-called “overpowered” killers who go on winstreaks never do it perkless…

So, what do you think about a limit of two perks per type? 😊
