Why am i getting a tine out when my pc crashes mid game ?

So i made a post on x about this as it really pissed me off. I was playing gun slinger and my pc crashed and restarted mid match. And yet even tho it was out of my control. I got hit with a 15 min time out. It then happens again but this time only the game due to alot of lag. So why am i the person whos crashing while playing getting punished for it.

    Because there is no way to ever tell you actually crashed.

    As long as the reason for the DC is not at the server itself the game has no way to tell if your pc crashed, you pulled the plug, your whole town lost internet, if the connection got cut somewhere between your location and the server, etc.

    So to have a functional anti dc system every dc gets punished the same. Otherwise everyone would "crash" their system anytime they want to dc

    To add to what @Starrseed already pointed out correctly:

    If you get a 15min penalty, you already DCed a few times before. Usually the first DC is free, so if your PC crashed, you would have no penalty when you are back online. Then you get a five minute penalty and then 15 minutes. So you would have already DCed twice before your PC crashed.
