Friendly Feedback - BHVR - What’s the plan? What should we expect?

With the 10th Anniversary approaching faster than a Ghoul with lethal, BHVR we gotta lock in these next few weeks.

There are SO many bugs right now, and I know this is due to the engine update but it’s concerning because the anniversary is not far off. We need a nice clean anniversary for our 10th and everyone is really excited for it.

Between the defeaning audio bugs that are breaking our eardrums, legions kill switch for a month and now wesker, to the dangerous exit gate bug among many other issues, some of these bugs were and are SO obvious. I am not sure how we missed these from testing and got sent out to Live Servers. Games are crashing, blood webs are breaking, servers are disconnecting more. It’s been quite worrisome to say the least.

Please, we gotta lock in.

My duo and i played all night on steam and hadn't crashed even once. Which platform are you guys using? Or is it a 1v4 thing (we were on 2v8 the whole time)

I had a couple of crashes. PC, 2v8, drivers all up to date, verified integrity of game files, all that stuff.

Weirdly, not had one since the first night of the update so not been able ot reproduce.

There are definitely a litany of new bugs in the game though, from cosmetic to ones that impact gameplay significantly. What's especially concerning is some of these bugs should have been caught with the most rudimentary of bugtesting, such as escape music no longer playing or the gates being delayed. I really hope a change in testing philosophy, at least around the 10-year event and its content.

I am really missing the old updates with plenty of perk changes. The games feel stale, more on survivor side. I can count all perks killer used in 100 games with fingers on one hand and survivors are not so far from it either.

I think Jim the Beam is still the biggest example of how little they test for bugs lol.

Let's not forget the performance issues, my Steam Deck sounding like a jet engine with this upgrade. Awful.

Yeah that would be nice. 😊

The lag in 2v8 this iteration has really been unusual too. Ive never experienced it like this before. Hopefully another bug patch is incoming.

    Steam, PC.

Haven't tried 1v4 — the matches I did play were all in 2v8 as Survivor. I experienced four crashes before I gave up — twice in the game menus and twice in live matches. I ended up with a 5 minute penalty so decided I wouldn't risk playing any more until the upcoming bufix patch.

It's kinda hard to nail down what's going on because there's like five different crashes that were introduced with the last update (according to user reports I've seen on Steam, Reddit, and X)

    • There is a crash related to the Bloodweb which has since been fixed, according to BHVR on X.
    • There is a crash related to the post-match tally screen, which has been tenatively fixed according to the same tweet.
    • There is a crash related to ALT + Tabbing out of the game window or using streaming software like OBS. This one doesn't affect me because I don't ALT + Tab or stream during gameplay, but I've seen a lot of people complaining about it.
    • There is a "GPU dump" crash, which I haven't experienced myself but I've seen screenshots of.
    • And finally, there's what is happening to me — where the game just unexpectedly freezes and closes in the middle of gameplay with no error messages or crash reports.

I've also heard there's an issue where you can get indefinitely stuck on the "Initialising Shaders" screen, but I haven't encountered that myself.

I'm guessing it's related to the engine update, since I very rarely had any problems with crashing before 9.6.0.
