I miss the horror aspect
I kinda like how dbd is going, but I miss when it was scary. Now it’s more arcadey/comp.

The game turns back into a horror game for me when the killer has a no terror radius build on indoor maps 😂

I think that just comes with playing it a lot, same with any horror game really. The unknown is more scary, once you're familiar with the game it loses the fear factor. At least you can still get jumpscared by undetectable builds.

i mostly miss the horror aesthetik.
Sure, the Visual upgrades are nice and models and textures look better. And gameplay-wise i get why they were stepping away from too much darkness as it was too easy for survivors to play stealthy without progressing the objective.
But imo these issues are now resolved with how the afk crows work. There is no real Need for players to be able to see across the whole map from anywhere and also see the edges of the maps.
Please bring back the original atmosphere, with the fog, horror aesthetic, lighting, this can work on Daylight maps as well.

Well said, friend.

you have to cripple survivors and buff killers to bring back the horror aspect

The game stops being scary after playing it for about 10 hours. Better to lean into the thing that has longevity.

Exactly, the horror aesthetic is gone and this is the biggest problem. But the game turned into a fashion show with a bunch of skins and I guess a more horror-like atmosphäre would be the total opposite. And honestly, it is not even that the game looks awesome graphics wise. The graphics dont look that good for a somewhat modern game and I would honestly prefer the old aesthetic, because the maps looked better and more unique, even if they were not as pretty and polished as they are now.
Also, for a game which has the slogan "See you in the Fog", there is awfully little fog around. It is basically non-existent at this point.
And they should try to work on the aesthethic. The Feeling of a Horrorgame is gone after a while and does not really come back, simply because you cannot experience it when subjected to it for too long. Like, I could watch the scariest Horrorfilm and would be terrified. If I watch it 100 times, I would not bother at all anymore. Same is with playing DBD for quite some time.

That is somewhat truthful, but the horror atmosphere has disappeared once they removed the fog and darkness from the maps.. Reworked Coldwind Farms (now they don't feel as „cold“ as the name suggests with the sunny weather), and overall improved the visibility and allow players to see each other across miles away.
Back then, that was only possible up to like 30 m at max, and that's without the Reagent offerings that changed it.. Or Moon offerings that got retired aswell.I'd love some weather changes, even if they are tied to offerings.
Adding rain, fog, pitch black night (even to Coldwind Farms and other day maps).. Oh, how would that improve the game to me and all, but I get it.
The hardware requirements would've drastically shifted upwards, making the game unplayable for those who're not on PC and having up-to-date hardware despite the graphics still being what they could be, eh..Let's not even talk about the other effects, such as destroyed pallets no longer keeping the broken wood on the ground and having the Entity cleaning it up, or generators actually showing visual indications of being damaged or the sparks doing some changes to the ground.
Or.. Upon getting hit, the clothes of the survivor getting ripped off or even torn out based on the weapon, hook, etcetera.Oh, how I would love to see those changes, but then again-
There comes the hardware stability becoming the challenge, and even worse, the censorship as ripped clothes could potentinally.. You know what I mean.
That wouldn't be Dead by Daylight anymore, I suppose.

Been less scary ever since they did the graphical rework back in like 2020-2021 don’t remember.

Horror games stop being scary past the first few hours. Old DBD was no exception.

I've never really considered the game to be "scary" even since the beginning. The game was certainly darker, the killer was certainly deadlier, but it was still just a pvp game that happen to have a horror theme, Kinda like playing aliens vs predator online.
What i miss was the speed of the rounds. Used to be if you got caught only once you were likely alredy dead. And could move on to the next round. Now in order to get the same result of you dieing quickly, the killer has to go after you and you alone making it feel personal, and all your extra chances being taken away. Game did not feel that personal back then for some reason.

There are a lot of naysayers, but it all went downhill when they added anime and Kpop. Nobody would've bat an eyelash at Junji Ito, but everything else? You can write it as "disturbing" as you want—it's still out of place and it shows. It's also around the same time they really started playing into fanservice, which also kills the horror vibe.
Granted, all that being said, I would love things like a Scooby-Doo collab and I think FNAF was a good addition. Call me biased, but I don't believe those IPs kill the vibe.
It's still so crazy to me how decent the models look in Left 4 Dead 2 versus the game they originate from. 💀

I think if you want to pinpoint it to characters, the moment they brought Nicolas Cage into the game was the moment where it was clear that basically everyone can join the cast of characters, as long as it brings BHVR money. Because this was probably the latest points where something does not need to be Horror anymore to be added.
