Ghost Face Needs a Rework or Major Buffs
Let me just preface this. I am a Ghost Face main, with about 4 thousand hours in the game. For about 1.5k hours, I have been a Ghost Face main. To say that this killer fundementally doesn't function anymore is an understatement. He has ONE thing going for him to create pressure, which is the ability to instantly down survivors, but that is basically impossible because of the pallet density update, which makes securing downs borderline impossible.
Almost every map now just is incredibly bad for him because pallets are so compact and people will pre-drop everything and run you for 4 gens before the first hook. Some maps are guaranteed automatic losses for him, such as Eryie of Crows, Badham Preschool, and Crotus Prenn Asylum. Maps that are fundementally easier for killer (Midwitch, Hawkins, Lery's Memorial Institute) still sucks for him since he just absolutely gets exploited by the mass amount of pallets that combine with each other. In some cases, the maps ENCOURAGES pre running to the safest location. Every killer in the game in SOME way has some form of anti-loop, and all he has is crouch which doing his crouch mind games just makes survivors hold W away from him. It makes every pallet feel basically completely safe. This compacts when even baby survivors who don't know how to play, can completely outplay him by simply pre throwing and holding W, not even mentioning how veteran players will simply harass him and prevent him from using his power, by simply following him and forcing him to become M1 knife guy.
Before I get told that I'm bad, I want to say that trying to approach from the edges of the map usually DOES NOT help him in any form, as it is usually an incredible waste of time and usually doesn't net him a down since a survivor, upon being marked, WILL run to the nearest pallet and pre drop it 9 times out of 10. You'd have to stalk the survivor within 5m max to even be CLOSE enough to down the survivor. Stalking people from a higher platform while is worth the time, unless he is running Corrupt Intervention, results in having 2 to 3 generators at 50-80% complete, ASSUMING he has a LOS on survivors.
Even comparing Nightlight stats, he is SUPER underperforming. Almost every other killer has a 60% killer rate while he is just simply sitting at anywhere between a 45%-50% kill rate depending on 1k, 2k-3k, or 4k. Playing this killer is unironically a CHORE since he is forced to run either Corrupt or Lethal Pursuer or both, and Drop Leg Knife Sheath (seriously the 10% speed should genuinely be base kit, he got a speed boost in 2v8 when he marked people why not in base game?)
I don't really think people are going to agree with me, and I'm ok with that. I personally think that the killers in the game SHOULD be feared, and they shouldn't be so easily bullied. Like, at least enough so that the killer can pressure a space effectively, which again, Ghost Face doesn't feel like he can do. Due to how survivors after being injured, usually flee to the opposite side of the map to reset and instantly go back to pressuring gens again.
Even Trapper, the other "bully fodder" killer; has the capability of snowballing a 4k because ONE person stepped into a trap. Ghost Face feels like he geniunely doesn't have enough in the slightest, and it sucks. Ghost Face sucks. Even if this discussion post feels like "whiny killer player lost too many games" I say these things because everything up above is what I have personally experienced in the last 4 months of playing this killer. It sucks being basically harassed the entire game, unable to actually play the game.
Here are my suggested buffs for him, for those likely few people that both care and agree that this killer is not playable in this era of DBD.
-Make Drop Leg Knife Sheath fully base kit and extend its duration to 10s or 15s. Change this to something more unique like Drivers Liscense.
-Similar to how Michael Myers has increased vault, break, and stun recovery, give Ghost Face the same numbers to allow him to focus more on chases, allow him to close the gap more without basically losing for breaking pallets that he is forced to break due to pallet density.
-This one is a little insane, but it would allow Ghost Face to actually pressure people if he has LOS/survivors attempting to harass him; make his lean stalk rate the normal non-lean stalk rate, and double the lean stalk rate. Maybe nerf/rework "Philly" addon to compensate, akin to giving the addon to basekit.
-Another insane idea, but this would allow him to mind game with his stealth ability while allowing survivors to actually take hits for exposed teammates; when a survivor is exposed, survivors within 12m cannot reveal Ghost Face.
Surely I'm not insane in thinking that A) playing survivor, you barely see this killer anymore and B) that no one realistically wants to play him anymore because he just has nothing going for him anymore. Thoughts?

I don’t play him as killer, but I have faced him plenty of times as survivor and I agree he needs some buffs. He’s at the bottom of almost every tier list I have ever seen. The only people who think he is overpowered or even his good just simply don’t have a clue how to play against him. All you have to do is pay attention and make sure he doesn’t sneak up on you. If you can get even a little jump on him in chase, he’s usually pretty easy to loop for a long time because he has no chase power. He definitely needs some help to be viable against anything better than brand new players.

Small correction, the speed boost in 2v8 is just there by default, no marking required, but as another Ghostface main I do very much agree he needs some buffs. Haste in Night Shroud, Drop-Leg being made basekit alongside Headline Cutouts, Walleye's Matchbook, Chewed Pen and Lasting Perfume would be cool, maybe something new to really push his stealth up so he can properly mark Survivors without being seen too easily. Just something to make him feel like a proper threat.

The few buffs they gave him still isn't enough to move the needle from bad to alright. They really have to give him more than that.

I didnt even consider these addons becoming base kit as well, those would at least mitigate some issues with him being ran around for the entire duration of his mark. I kind of disagree on Matchbook specifically since his power cooldown is already pretty low imo

I am not saying he does not need buffs in 1v4.
Still this reminds me of watching how people played him in 2v8. Very few people seemed to realize the optimal way to play him in that is to mark all the time as many survivors you can. I saw way too many people running around chasing the one marked person they marked or just survivors without marks just using his stealth. Like the few times I played him I went all out on marking survivors and usually those matches ended quite well because when you mark them they are exposed and your teammate can also down them with one hit. Like feel like at least in 2v8 you need to play him like you are more of a support that helps you teammate to get more downs and disturb the survivors by harassing them with keeping them marked.
Still even in 1v4 the sneakiest Ghost Face's are the hardest to counter. Like if you learn how to fool the survivor of what you are doing you can outplay most of them with him as long as you are not trying to beeline chase everyone.

Completely agree.
Just look at all the new k#llers have some sort of mobility to make them viable. It's long over due they gave him a substantial buff.
