Spam - Too Many Notifications and Repeated Promotions

Hi,

I wanted to point out that for around two years now, Dead by Daylight has been overwhelming players with notifications and promotional messages through multiple different channels.

For example:

  • In-game notifications (the red notification dot)
  • The in-game news/inbox
  • Email
  • Steam news

On top of that, the same topics are often promoted multiple times, even though they may not be relevant to every player.

Examples include:

  • The Casting of Frank Stone
  • Community Creations / Chorus of Sin

I understand showing something once so players are aware of it, but there is no need to promote the same thing 10–20 times. For example, I have no interest in participating in character creation contests.

There is also frequent notification spam from:

  • Tomes
  • The Archives
  • The Store

Likewise, there are players who simply want to play DBD and aren't interested in reading the lore. It is very annoying to have to click away all the red notification dots every time you log in, especially since they are designed to be impossible to overlook.

One notification through the inbox or the red dot in the Store is enough to let players know that new cosmetics are available. There is no need to notify us through both the inbox and the Store.

If you don't click the notification for The Archives even once, you don't get the Archive entry, even though you were logged into the game. This makes collecting the entries even more frustrating. Especially since The Archives are basically pointless and serve no real purpose.

On top of that, players are currently being repeatedly spammed with notifications about the gameplay showcase. We don't need 44 separate news notifications for every Killer, especially when this feature is already displayed in the lobby.

I think this problem could be solved very easily by adding an option to disable notifications for specific types of content, similar to the options available for news feed messages.

Players should be able to choose which notifications they want to receive instead of being forced to dismiss the same notifications over and over again.

Edit:

The same applies to the daily quests. We already know that there are new quests every day, so there is no need for a red notification dot. It only causes players to stop checking the quests altogether because they assume the perma dot is just there because of the daily quests, which can cause them to miss new quests for events or the Rift Pass.
