What are the supposed Unwritten rules of this game
For instance apparently there was a rule for Killers to let the survivors go if they 4% and a rule for survivors let the other one get the hatch if they found it first which is usually just them sitting on top of it.
I'm just wondering because I'm getting some hate mail because somebody's mad because I didn't let them live for 4% percenting

There isn't any. Just play how you want. No stopping you

Be toxic. Most people follow that one.2
-
Not a rule: a kind of mercy, instead, if you approve it.

You can't kill survivors, it is bad.
You can't escape from the killer, you are supposed to wait and kindly hand out hooks to the killers.

If there are no rules in the realm of The Entity, what makes you think there are rules in the game itself.

Killer must leave map when survivor is hooked or they are camping

Rule #1: Facecamp anyone that says you need to let them live for 4%ing
Rule #2: Do your absolute best to 4k/escape depending on your sideOtherwise do whatever

No unwritten rules.
The only one I wish everyone knew is that when someone on hook is moving his/her arms up and down continuously it means that the killer is at least very close2 -
The rules are too many to mention, it all comes down to don't do or use anything the other side don't enjoy.
As for the 4% is started when a few players used to let others go if the kobe'd, some streamers started doing it and then it became a must do or you were not being fair to someone who had dumb luck.
The 4% meme disappeared long ago when certain perks started to appear which gave a kobe a higher chance of happening.

If you do gens you are gen rushing. Find the killers and let them chase you instead but don't loop. Run in a straight line and no sprint burst please.
Let the injured survivor go you tunneling bully and chase me flashlight ds user. When I get downed dc killer op please nerf.0 -
There are a lot of "conduct rules" honestly which are ... well.. just a bunch of BS. A lot of times people will whine after game and try to get you to play in a sub-optimal way because they died. For example most survivors complain about face camping/camping, regardless of the context or stage of the game. Many expect you to go to the other side of the map and forget about coming back, no no your being a bad player then shame shame. Forget if the survivors are litterly dive bombing the hook, your chasing some one dumb enoghe to run you right back to the hook, or its end game the gates are open and you havn't got a kill. You will taste their salt after as they try to tell you its an un-writen rule and your bad case you ruin their fun by not adhering to it. In short... find your style and have fun. Don't worry about any rules not directly implemented by mechanics. Be a nice killer, be a try hard, be what you wanna be long as your having fun.

Hooked survivors that are "flailing" mean the killer is nearby/they're being camped; don't rescue them.

Nearly all unwritten rules are coming from survivors to benefit themselves. And it's funny that exactly it's the survivors who don't follow any rules. So I don't follow their made up rules2

You will alwasy get hatemail if you kill survivors. But dont do the mistake of giving them afree escape, they dont like that either

There is no unwritten rules to DBD. Only those that you've made up for yourself.
You don't play their rules.

Killers: No killing
Survivors: No touching gens
Anyone who breaks these rules need bans.1 -
The only rule is to stop perpetuating the idea that there are rules.0
-
Killers mustn't do anything except gracefully accept Flashlight blinds.
Survivors must run No Mither, get downed at hooks, not try to escape at hook phase 1 and not struggle at hook phase 2.0 -
Aside from flailing on the hook meaning the killer is near, no rules. Play how you want to.
The people making the rules are the ones the rules benefit.
Still, it's fun to know the dumb/weird things, I guess, like killers running NOED have to use frosty eyes cosmetics, or respecting the 4 percent, dropping an item is asking to be let go, etc.0 -
There's only one rule and that's; Never listen to players made-up rules. (like this one)

if you are the last survivor and you leave your item i let you go. It to me is a sign of respect.

- Wiggling on the hook = leave me on the hook
- A killer smacking a generator on purpose = they want to farm
- A little quick tbag after getting healed = thank you!
That's pretty much it unless we want to get into "controversial" ones that basically boil down to people wanting an easier time (4%, tunneling/camping, trying to restrict what perks/items/addons/killers people can use and so on)
