Right now, hitting rank 1 is more a hindrance than a bragging right. It just isn't fun being in the high ranks. Add to that longer queue times, and it really isn't hard to see why some players have been deranking themselves lately.
As for Devotion...they literally don't do anything for you. Sure, shards per level before 100 are nice. But once you hit Devotion, that's it. Back to level 1 earning hardly any shards, now with a "special" number signifying Devotion level. There's just no reason to want to reach it. I realise you do anyway, but it'd be nice if players wanted to actively aim to reach 100 instead of just hitting it because you can't not hit it.
I'd like to suggest a bloodpoint and/or shard bonus for every rank you reach the first time per season.
So e.g.
Levels 20-16 = 1000 BPs per level with no shard bonus
Levels 15-11 = 5000 BPs + 150 shards
Levels 10-6 = 10000 BPs + 300 shards
Levels 5-2 = 15000 BPs + 500 shards
Level 1 = 25000 BPs + 1000 shards
Same goes for Devotion. The current shard amount would stay the same (50 shards at level 2, 65 at level 3, 300 for levels 50-100), but for every Devotion level you reach, you get a bonus amount. 1000 would be nice but even doubling the 50-100 amount to 600 would suffice.
Look, these are just suggestions and I'm sure the community as a whole could think of something better than my (likely) mathematically inaccurate bonuses. But there really needs to be more incentive for players to aim for higher ranks, because right now, there's next to nothing. And I don't like hearing about players leaving because there just isn't enough reason to stick around. I've loved this game since day one, and I'm glad it's still popular. But some things need to be changed in order to keep it that way.
