The Real Problem with the Swamp Maps

Peasant
Peasant Member Posts: 4,104

What kind of shoes are the survivors wearing that prevents them from slipping in the mud? If we're being honest here there's no good reason as to why everyone just has amazing traction that prevents them from slipping and sliding everywhere. Then there's the fact that nobody sinks into the mud when they walk slowly or stand still. What's up with this crucial oversight BHVR?!

I mean, if someone like the Hag can pick up beefy bois like David King or Jeff, and jump off a ledge while carrying them with no repercussions whatsoever, then there shouldn't be a reason why survivors or killers should be slipping and sliding.

Isn't the Hag "of flesh and mud"? So while the Hag looks weak and frail she is partially made of stone and dirt. Therefore, the Hag is beefier than you might think.

Good point. But what about the Legion? I'm looking at Susie specifically.

Susie gets motivated by the power of music and her bonds with her friends. It's amazing what the human body can do in certain situations.
Frank/Julie/Joe are just naturally strong 18-year-olds.

In a standard body of water the clown would actually float, but given the circumstances the fact that he doesn't sink in the swamp really is amazing. Perhaps he is just constantly moving to avoid sinking? After all, if he just keeps walking and pulling up his feet each time then theoretically he wouldn't sink, right?

Well even if that were the case while nobody would sink into the floor everyone would still slip and slide. Doing a 360 would twist an ankle.

I can understand not slipping when you walk per se. However, once you start running on squishy mud it becomes slippery mud.

This can be related to the lore, The Entity can bring stuff into its realm but sometimes doesn't get it right 100%. So maybe it just didn't get the mud right.

Also the explanation of killers like The Hag, Freddy, Pig and Legion being able to pick survivors up with little to no effort and just carry them around like a sack of potatoes. Is because The Entity gives them strength, that's why they're also able to break a pallet with 2 hits.

Look, I have a dog and a muddy yard. Is it so wrong to envy everyone for their four-wheeled tread shoes that make slipping in mud impossible?

I honestly wish that maps were more alive and had their own unique featurs.

Stating that, we even can't balance the game as it is now, no way we could balance it around different map features.

... Even though there are a fair few Survivors who are sticky, heavyset, and very clearly strong and more importantly HEAVY people, yet Frank, Julie, Susie, and Joey can still carry people that are physically larger than them.

What about Leatherface not sinking in?
