Sole Survivor & Object of Obsession Rework Idea!
Current Sole Survivor:
As more of your friends fall to the Killer, you become shrouded in isolation and the Killer's Aura-reading abilities towards you are disrupted.
Your Aura cannot be read by the Killer within a maximum range of 20/22/24 metres for each killed or sacrificed Survivor.
Increases your chance to be the Killer's Obsession.
Only one Obsession per trial.
Reworked Sole Survivor:
As you are tired of being the only one to survive the trial, you strive to help your friends live as well.
Whenever another Survivor is picked up, great courage is unlocked within yourself:
- For 15 seconds, any hit that would put you into the Dying state will instead apply the Deep Wound status effect.
- You have 10/15/20 seconds to mend yourself
- Sprint at 150% of your normal running speed for 3 seconds.
Causes Exhaustion for 60/50/40 seconds.
Successfully taking a hit for a survivor in trouble results in you becoming the Obsession.
Increases your chance to be the Killer's Obsession.
Only one Obsession per trial.
Current Object of Obsession:
A supernatural bond links you to the Killer.
If you are looking in the Killer's direction, your link will reveal your Auras to each other.
This effect applies only if you are outside of the Killer's Terror Radius.
As the Killer's Obsession, this effect applies to a maximum range of 56/64/72 meters. Otherwise, it applies to a maximum range of 44/56/64 meters.
Increases your chance to be the Killer's Obsession.
Only one Obsession per trial.
Reworked Object of Obsession:
Activate-able Perk.
A supernatural bond links you to the Killer.
Press and hold the Active Ability button to activate Object of Obsession.
If you are outside the Terror Radius, and looking at the Killer while Object of Obsession is active, reveal the Killer's Aura, and your Aura to the Killer.
This effect applies to a maximum range of 48/56/64 meters.
In each unique instance of you activating Object of Obsession, gain a stack.
There is a 8 second cooldown upon gaining a stack, where you cannot gain another stack until the cooldown is over.
At 5 stacks, you become the Killer's Obsession, and all stacks are consumed.
Increases your chance to be the Killer's Obsession.
Only one Obsession per trial.

@HatCreature I saw your post about survivor obsession perks, thought this might peak your interest.

I actually love both of these, but I the first one to be a different perk, and the second a rework.

I like the perks that also focus on solo survival. I don't play them often, but I think it's a valid form of play for survivors to not exactly help each other. Some people wouldn't help, and I think it adds tension to this survival horror game.
Its 100% not bad design because that has been an allowed style of game play since the beginning. The survivors aren't always supposed to be altruistic. You're purposely not supposed to know if they are gonna help. It's very horror movie like.
We can still find their track marks, and their blood trails, and hear them breath/whimper. If someone has managed surviving until the end I'm okay with it. I just wish there was a different mechanic for the hatch so we could more easily enjoy a perk like that. But this doesn't need to be another hatch discussion, lol.
I do overall like the two perks and would like to see them in the game. I think that rescue one is really cool.
For the second one, does perk also entail you pressing the action button when working on gens, grabbing people from hooks, destroying totems, etc.
That could be interesting, but I'd have to mull it over a bit.

It is interesting, but Sole Survivor now looks nothing like its name suggests, as Sole Survivor suggests that you are... surviving... alone... not saving...1

I like Sole Survivor, I just wish it blocked against long range stuff like BBQ when the last survivor dies. I happened to have it on against a T1 mirror Myers this week and he struggled so hard. Can't say I understand the point of an exhaustion perk that goes off when you're guaranteed not in a chase. Like you can run into BBQ range or away from the killer, but that's an incredibly underwhelming perk slot, especially over other exhaustion perks.

Lmao, learn to hit your flashlight, no need to change sole survivor...
Object of obsession is great as it is right now.0 -

Sole Survivor could stand a rework, and I think a perk that helps you facilitate flashlight blinds to save your friends would be cool. (Also it has the non-obsession downside thing)

Don't see the usage of this Sole Survivor tbh.
But activable OoO would be interesting

Sole survivor doesn't fit what its designed to be, the item consumption rate is dependent on people who now use DS now, I also doubt anyone would run that over another exhusation perk since you are not in control of when it activates, you already see the killers aura when they are getting picked up it would only be slightly useful with Flashlight saves but most players going for a them will be around the downed person before this perk would be needed and SB would do the same thing and be more useful in other situations.
OoO seems highly abusable by SWF, it could nulify Rancor if someone gains 4 stacks and sits at the exit gate, suddenly changing obsession to them so its useless against the obsession they are chasing, PWYF and STBLF can have stack removed by changing before they are about to hit you or they just let you go.

The Sole Survivor rework doesn't make sense. You already know exactly where the killer is when they pick up a survivor and you can see the direction they're walking toward. Then you know where they are hooked. That 5 second aura reading is useless. And I'd hate getting exhausted everytime someone got hooked.
Your OoO rework is better.0 -

oops, sorry about that, I meant to take out the aura reading part.
I intend for it to be a body blocking perk, instead of a completely useless aura reading block perk that hardly functions.0 -
I like the idea of object of obssesion0

Sorry it still doesn't fit with her being the Sole Survivor, it feels like it needs to be something to help Laurie survive against a killer who is hunting a group of people down while each of the others is being picked off.
Maybe for each one killed she gains a token, for the first token you vault 25% faster, second token you unhook 50% faster, third token removes the hatch grab mechanic so no more standoff, there is a risk involved as once you are the last one alive even if the hatch has not spawned you are exposed.

And also as twistedmonkey said this perk should help Laurie when she is starting to be alone.0 -

I personally do not care at all if it "doesn't fit". Because I made it fit. What I care about is if it's balanced or not.
Saying it "doesn't fit" is completely invalid.0 -

Saying it "doesn't fit" is completely invalid. Not really as being the Sole Survivor means you are alone, its a perk which gets stronger as the others are being picked off, the premise of the original idea is sound but the reward for using it is bad.
I don't see that you did make it fit as you changed it from a perk to help when you are the sole survivor into a perk to try and aid someone that has been downed instead.

"Sole Survivor" is a perk built around the theme of Laurie Strode. It isn't the best currently but Laurie, across all of horror, is the iconic "Last Girl" that survives while all of her friends die around her.
Sole Survivor is designed to follow that trope, increasing your odds of survival as your friends die around you. Your perk concept lets you aggressively bodyblock the killer which completely ignores Laurie as a character.
You didn't "make it fit," you just made up a new, unrelated perk and slapped the name on.

She's tired of being a sole survivor. She's extremely altruistic so that her friends can live. As is the case with Object and Decisive.
