Hook struggle keybind change for people with arthritis

I play with a controller on PC and have moderate arthritis. It is difficult for me to rapidly press the same button for the duration of the hook struggle timer because the joints in my thumb have a tendency to lock up at random around the halfway point of the struggle timer. It would be much easier for me if the keybinds could change to where I could alternate between the LT and RT similar to the default keyboard buttons for wiggling out of the killer's grasp. Or maybe even give the option of having skillchecks during hook struggle instead. It's a long time for someone with arthritis to rapidly press a button.

I can relate to this. I suicide a lot on the hook because I can't hammer X fast enough, letting my team down. PC players on keyboard and mouse can alleviate this by using mouse wheel but there is nothing for console/controller users.

Also, it's a pretty annoying mechanic to begin with.. like, would it really hurt the game if you were able to just hold a button to keep struggling, or let go to let go? Would *anyone* really like that less?

"but if you remove the button mashing from the struggle phase it takes away from the immersion of the game"

the above statement is an absolute farce. I approve removing the struggle feature. Or changing it in the options for those who want to remain "immersive". My hardware has suffered from playing DBD over the last year. I kb/mouse as killer and use a pc controller for survivor because of this. Now i'm about ready to replace my controller if i want to continue to play as survivor lol. Killers do not have the same mechanics that survivors do and this would only be fair imo.

Yeah, exactly! Imagine if the killer had to wiggle the stick faster than the survivor to keep carrying, and if they falter for even an instant they immediately drop them. That would make the game awful. The fact that we only have half of that now is only half awful.

Felt compelled to revisit this as it just happened again to remind me: that's not even to mention the fact that it barely works now, even if you don't have arthritis, and you don't get tired or miss a single freaking beat, it STILL frequently and regularly will just cut off your struggle with no apparent reason! And that's immensely more frustrating when doing it is such a PITA nuisance. Especially if someone's inches away from pulling you off..

I need to quickly swap from mashing x with thumb to forefinger because my thumb is aching and....suicides. Happens all the time!

I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome and hammering spacebar to struggle is painful for me. I rather just have it changed to a "Hold" thing or something. Much easier for me.

Either just make the struggle phase another phase where your character is struggling but you don’t have to do anything, or let us hold the button down instead of mashing.

Even when I am hitting the struggle button I’ll die because the game does acknowledge a button hit. It’s a flawed system.

Yeah, exactly.. I changed the default button thinking maybe my controller was broken because of how often that happens, but it didn't help at all! Which makes me think/realize that we probably picked the wrong thread to have this discussion, since the headline makes it sound like a request for something that already exists. Just changing the keybind so you have to mash circle instead is no help.

SO many times this has been issued, for years already. Could you just please stop ignoring the community and address this? Or at least say "no, we will never change this mechanic" so we can move on to another game and stop harming our hardware?

If I had known of this "feature" when I bought the game, I'd have never bought it to start with, or i'd have refunded it, because I don't really enjoy playing killer anyways, so...
