Streamer Mode (Anonymous Name Option)

Under options, please add a Streamer or Anonymous mode to give the option to hide the players names. For example when enabled, you would see the following: Survivor 1, Survivor 2, Survivor 3, Survivor 4 and The Killer. Reporting, of course, would still work as from Behaviours end they can identify who each player is.

I suggest it in order to stop stream sniping and reduce harassment.

Does anyone support this? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Are you good at memorising all of these different players names after they suicide on hook, etc? There are so many players!

Do all players play the same everytime? For example, Once a DCer always a DCer?? - is this accurate?

Besides, hiding the username would not help streamers to reduce sniping. How exactly? You didnt explain this.

@Pirscher Yup, I'm good at memorizing. And I'm also not talking about people who kill themselves once. But there are players who ruin matches on a regular basis and I don't see a reason why I should play with them anymore.

Concerning stream snipers: These people watch the streams. They see the survivors (skins) who are in the streamer's lobby. They don't need to see names when they see how the skins look like to know that they are in the "correct" lobby.

@NoShinyPony If they are regularly doing silly things and ruining matches, surely a difference in rank is slowly occuring between you and them therefore removing the chance for you to join in with them? They would go down in rank due to their silly behaviour.

@NoShinyPony Taking their ability away to find the correct stream via usernames is an improvement though, isnt it? As it takes more time to find the correct stream through matching skins than usernames.

@BACKSTABBER Doesnt behaviour ban these extreme offenders through MAC address?

I'm pretty sure the purpose of a streaming mode isn't for us regular players, but as the name would imply for streamers, as to avoid witch hunting and the likes. So from reading this thread most of you have missed the point, also it's not mandatory to use it, just a QoL thing for streamers with a large following I suppose, so why not, why no streaming mode.

Well this wouldn't affect you at all. If you don't want to use the streamer mode you wouldn't have to.

    @BACKSTABBER

I see. So regardless if they added my idea of an anonymous mode to the game or not, he could still play and bypass a hardware ban by changing the MAC address you say?

So it seems an anonymous mode isnt really much of a tool then to allow banned people to play if theyre just going change their MAC address... Hmmm

    Add a stream delay.

What OP is talking about is having a mode where you cant see the names on your own screen. This would help against witchhunting(or stream sniping in lobby).

I dont see a reason against something like this since it doesnt interfere with the other players at all

Can't remember where i read it, but i faintly remember the devs, or not_queen here, saying that, if you're a streamer and you let your fellow players know by making your name about your stream, you're basically doing a risk/reward thing: The risk being that you might go against something powerful and tunneling/camping, but the reward being that you gain more popularity.

It exists on Fortnite and works well - anyway, at least I have posted this here and the devs have caught wind of it.

    Lets see what happens ;)

You could always pull up the Character List, it covers most the screen and you wont be able to see the names of the survivors.

Another thing you could do is have an Anti-snipe screen to go to when in lobbies, a lot of streamers do this.

Come now we both no that's not why most killers dodge, they dodge because they don't like items, cosmetics or because you were a good player or because they assume it's SWF.

That's not to say those aren't valid reasons but given all the times certain killers mains on here have stated they dodge for the reasons I've listed.

The names should be hidden or the survivors should get to see the killers name so they can dodge by name.

So they can dodge killers that play like douches.

So they can avoid mocking nicknames.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander and you can't say one thing and not expect both sides to have to live by that rule.

Anonymous mode would let trolls run rampant among our games with no identity to tag them with. Not a good idea. And if only streamers could use it, then it would be kinda obvious who's who.

Oh ok I see. Well in alignment with your suggestions, I suppose I could just wear a pair of sunglasses in order to try block out their names or hold a newspaper in front of my eyes.

if you report the person using this mode, behaviour can see on their end who the player is. No one would be immune to bans etc.

I'm okay with hiding names and profiles in lobby before game. If you think survivor names and profiles should be shown, shouldn't killer's be shown, too? With all things equal.

No because we can't ban Ochido if he can hide his name lol

What? The problems not with you seeing the names, it's snipers trying to see if they are or are not in your lobby.

It's something people do to stop stream sniping in lobbies, If in the character selection screen the viewers can't see the survivors names in the lobby so they wont know if their in your game or not.

Sorry... Devs already did this. If you ever play killer you'd know. First.. Survivors can't see who is in the lobby anymore by checking steam. Also, killers can't see who is on the recent players list... Since they are interacting with Steam in that way. Only survivors can see that right now.

If the streamer has such a ######### community that they are willing witch hunt even after you tell them not too.. and they should know better anyways... Then it is time for that streamer to get a new community and grow up, since they foster and attact the community they want.

Removing the names won't stop snipping if people are trying to get into your lobby as a streamer. The streamer can do things to prevent people from going into their lobby if they really want to. Also the streamer has video backup of the matches if those snipers grief.

Personally all names and profiles should be removed fron the lobbies, with the report system there really is no need to be able to see them or open them at all and it just promotes more toxicity by making it easy.

Killer profiles were removed for a good reason and I think it has past the point where that is also true for the case of removing survivor names and profiles.

Streamers having the ability to make every name in the game show up like you stated would also be a really good idea.

@PolarBear If a survivor with bad behaviour (farming etc.) decides to use "streamer mode" in order to hide their name, I couldn't dodge them. So it would affect everyone.

@Pirscher If people want to snipe, they have to watch the stream anyway. It doesn't make a difference if you have to look 1 second longer at the lobby because you can only see skins and not names.

Concerning the ranks: So far, ranking up has been super easy. People who play like I mentioned are able to stay on rank 2 constantly if they also play some normal games. Now, with the PTB, ranking up has been made harder. But besides that, why should people in midranks not be able to dodge these kind of players?

Don't put your stream name as your steam name. I don't.
