Well it's finally happened... and it saddens me a bit.

I'm starting to lose a bit of interest finally. I'll still play, and I love this game, but finally... I'm starting to play less and less.

The new chapter is looming and I'll definitely play it more then, but I've been really into the Division lately. The 1st one. Got it for cheap, and DbD is still a great game, I'm just not that into it at the moment.

Why?

I'm not trying to knock the game. It's a great game. My favorite. I've went from obsessed to just "like it a lot" I guess lol.

I have all my killers level 50, some prestiged. All my survivors as well. I guess my big problem is ranked rewards.

Grind rewards... and no devotion depth or rewards. Just a lack of immersion in the game. Then again I do like the game's simplicity a good bit too.

I just never thought I'd peel off playing DbD so regularly and that day has come. The last 4 days I've only put in maybe 3 hours. Which is low for me. I hope my play picks up. I mean it's nothing they are doing (BHVR) but my experience has grown a bit stale.

Anyone else have this problem? I'm really hoping the new chapter rekindles that love. I'll never stop playing. I guess in perspective I went from playing crazy amounts to not much at all.

I think I don't want to stop playing. I don't think I will.

Yours truly... PS4 supporter from week 1.

I took a break a while ago and came back, played and had fun again. Sometimes we just need breaks ya know? Playing the same game over and over again every day can get tiring sometimes.

There is nothing wrong with taking a break. The new DLC will be out in a couple weeks to spice things up. Find something else to play until everyone settles in with the new killer.

I think everyone who is/was once addicted to dbd will take a break every now and then just to eventually come back for another 10000 hours of fun and frustration. Let's just face it: DBD is a virtual drug that makes you happy and angry at the same time. Some people even send developers (exactly) one dollar during their in-game streams asking to get unbanned because they're so addicted even though they used to complain about the game all the time.

Sometimes you just need to take a break from the game. My interest in DBD runs in cycles. I will play it a ton, get burnt out on it, set it down for a few months and play something else. Then when i come back it feels fresh again and i can play it some more. Take a break and play some other games. Your interest will rekindle.

Honestly man there's nothing wrong with giving this game a break. I primarily play on Console because I only played the ptb when it comes to PC. Has for how many hours I dumped into this game I won't lie.

I've only been playing a few matches in survive with friends every few days or so. I'm just waiting for the rank reset which happened today to finally start back playing killer since I've been neglecting to play killer for at least 3 months unless there was a daily I had to do.

My interest comes and goes. As long as they keep pushing out content I'll come back to check it out. When there isn't much going on (DLC, events, mid chapter patches) I won't play as much, though. UNLESS they make rank rewards and such.

The same thing is happening to me too sadly. I haven't had the interest to play this game for like 4 days now, which saddens me really. I remember when I played this game non-stop on PS4 and wanted to P3 all my characters, but now I don't think I can even P3 2 characters! Especially since getting to level 50 kinda feels like a project to me now, and all my games no longer feel all that interesting. I will play this game again when new PTBs and chapters come out, but for right now, my dreams of all my character being P3 is down the drain basically.😔😢

You remember when Mathieu Cote said "if you're feeling burned out, take a break. Play something else for a week or two."

That was good advice. Don't burn yourself out, friends. Take a little break and wait until you start to miss DbD to come back. Sometimes that is what we need to light that spark again. DbD is an amazing game, but overindulgence will make it get old eventually no matter what.

Been there as well. I remember not playing at all for almost a month after Clown came out. Stopped during the holidays as well, but that was mostly due to my ping being at 1000+, even when everyone else was green. And the past event was the first I really even bothered with. I usually just skip them.

We all get burned out of our favorite things eventually. But if enough new things keep happening, we get pulled back in. I'm just trying to finish adepting everyone (yes, I'm a semi-completionist), and when Plague and Jane come out, I'll do the same with them, then I might pull back a bit once again. As it is, adepting Clown burned me out, but I also don't like him so... that might have something to do with it.

I took a break when I played one or two games and got bored right after... now I’m playing more again. Love the game, but... but there’s something not making me be obsessed like I was before.

I don't want to sound harsh but... If a game can only keep you motivated with these "rewards" then the actual game itself isn't good and you sound like a casual who doesn't play for fun but for "rewards".

You mentioned The Division, the new Division 2 goes live for the standard edition on the 15th or rather on the stroke of midnight just as Thursday ends your local time.

That's 22 hours from now at time of writing.

I think if you play any game on a regular basis you will get fatigue with it at some point. Do what others have suggested and take a break. Reignite the flame for when the new DLC drops next week.

Yee. And I don't think it was bad for Cote to say that either. That sort of thing is what sets BHVR apart to me. They legit care enough about their fans to tell them to take a break from the thing that makes them money.

Put in a solid 1.5k hours into this game (my highest hours put into a game ever).

Once you realize that this game is unfun at high ranks and understand why that exactly is.. then you just want to stop for good.

For me it was the tryhards from both killer and survivor at high ranks.

Omega blink nurse and instasaw hillbillies over and over again = boring.

Playing as killer is hardly any better as you went against d-bags that would run DS and would run perfectly around corners/through windows which would be a massive waste of time for you if you didn't play as the previously mentioned killers.

For me, the community killed the game for me. If they only had m1 killers the game would have been much easier to balance and much more enjoyable too.

Flame me all you want, but the nurse should have never been added to this game as she is UNFUN to play against, if the player is good at using her then you're screwed. Whispers/BBQ/Nurses/Hex:R = you're not hiding anywhere, especially those that have nvidia filters that brighten the game.

Edit: They have also never added anymore game modes/mutations or anything like that. Every week they could have a different game mode like "Girls can kill", and only be able to play as the female killers/survivors and get a bit of bonus BP. You could have added an another objective, you could have made the maps more dynamic and have stopped adding the same mistakes (pallet looping zones that cannot be mine gamed).

I just opened and then closed the game and came to forums to see this thread lol

It happens and everybody needs their break. I am gonna earn my 1 mil bloodpoints and then wait till the DLC comes out. Right now, I have no aim in the game.

You sound like a millenial that couldn't be more wrong. I've played this game consistently for almost 2 years.

That isn't casual. I've bought every DLC but the last 2. I have all my characters at 50 and some prestige 3.

That isn't casual lol. Another blanket statement from a kiddo.

I've probably got 1k-1.5k hours in the game, but that is hard to quantify on PS4. Just lately I've played much less.

    ;)

You'll come back around. I do the same except on a more regular scale.

I'll play everyday for a bit and then stop for awhile.

You can only repair generators so many times before it gets extremely repetitive.

I'll switch over to Killer for a bit and flip flop back and forth.

I'm different than most though and enjoy going against the 'tryhards'.

What fun is the game if there's no challenge?

Take a break and we'll see you soon. (Currently on a break myself at the moment)

I have invested so much time into this game, because the idea is really original and combined with the grind, you can have fun for thousand of hours, but the execution is just horrible. Awful hitboxes, uninterruptible animations and many annoying bugs. Overall balance of the game is just questionable. The key to actually enjoy this game is take take breaks for few days or even weeks, because the more I play, the more it gets frustrating and I actually start to focus on the flaws of the game rather than enjoying it.

Yep, I take brakes all the time, Lately I haven't played much at all apart from the PTB to test the new killer.

I love the game but it just gets kind of stale playing the same Trail over and over. Well that and the fact that at high ranks Killer can get incredibly stressful. It used to not bother me but now All it takes is a couple of toxic SWF Games to kill my will to play...

Look man, sometimes people need breaks. I myself balance my fun around several games. If I don't want to deal with Dead by Daylight, I play Titanfall 2, Borderlands 2, Minecraft (I swear, it's scarier then any horror game), etc.

Burnouts happen, and sometimes you need to focus on other games to play. Don't worry about it, you'll be back on soon enough for any reason.

See you back in the fog soon.

I’ve played this game a while and it does get tiring at times but it’s still a fun experience with friends.

(i don’t really have any other games that I’m interested in other than dbd)

Do whatever you want! It’s fine to take breaks. I feel as if the gameplay can feel stale, but... on the bright side, you’ll have new DLC to come back to. If you need to get updated, stop by the discord, and check #dbd-announcements.

We’ll be waiting for you; enjoy whatever you’re going to play. You’re not required to play the game if you don’t feel motivated to.

Yes. I understand I don't have to play.

This entire post was just me speaking about my feelings. I love the game, and I guess a break will be nice. Thanks for everyone's comments.
