Keys are getting ridiculous
In every second game I have survivors using them even when they didn't bring any. How do you counter that.

Patrol gens. If they cant do 2 they never even see the hatch.
If it's still 3 or 4 survivors, they need 4/5 done.
If keys are an issue, run gen based perks (tinkerer, ruin,murmur, discordance) , and dont even give them the option.

You asked for a solution. It's one of your only options.
So either take advice when its given to you, and use It or dont, or dont ask for advice and learn to deal with it. But dont get snarky when I try to give you an actual solution to help, with 0 sass in my post.
I always say this. The game gives you perks to supplement your lacking areas. If keys are your issue, you have options.
Or maybe try franklins? 😆

How often is Plunderer's in your game? Because I've gotten a lot of keys since rank reset, farming items with PI and AitH. No joke, one match my chest pulls were: Skeleton key, skeleton key, dull key.
Don't get me wrong, I love that ultra rares can be found in chests and PI isn't just a dead perk slot, but it's a little crazy occasionally now.

After the winter event they upped the chance of getting higher rarity items, Usually if you have plunderer's you get a key or purple medkit/toolbox. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Franklin s demise is the counter. I rarely find keys even when I bring plunderers and as killer survivors rarely find them.

If keys get nerfed moris have to as well. They're both overpowered crutches.

Keys are more common cuz after the event they bumped the rarity if items in chests like crazy, reverting the nerf to not get pink items anymore. That also made keys much more common. Especially with Plunder. But it's ok, it's fun for survivors, so don't expect a change anytime soon. :)
Also at "Lul use Franklin's." Oh yea, let me waste a perk slot in my already super limited pool of perks so I can stop you from using a key that you have to just hold M1 for 10s and get some luck to get. Totally fair.

Just feels common. Not that common at all. Most of the time it requires someone running Plunderer's. If they run the perk, so be it.

Call me old fashioned but a killer is supposed to KILL, moris are fine. Keys are a cop out.
That being said, I would be fine if moris became base game on the condition survivors can die on a 3rd hook.

I think there should be a counter for keys. Like a padlock that renders keys useless until all generators are done or something like that.

Survivors surviving is not a given. That’s part of the appeal of horror movies - you watch the killer rampage and you’re not sure if your favorite character or anyone at all will make it out...but you do know that the killer has and will kill.
Moris are fine but if you want to “nerf” them, the only acceptable “nerf” is making moris part of the base gameplay but you can only do so on a would be 3rd or final hook. That’s more than fair.
If you don’t want to deal with dying in a horror game that has Michael Myers and Freddy in it...you’re either extremely entitled or you don’t know or care about horror. Moris are fun for everyone! I love doing and getting moried. But hey, I might just be old fashioned where I think horror is supposed to mean something for the survivors.

Uh, I very highly doubt everyone will agree with you on the "Moris are fun for everyone" simply because you enjoy getting Mori'd. :P
Also, one thing to keep in mind: This is not a horror movie. It's a horror video game. A multiplayer one, at that. Game balance comes first.

You CANNOT win against a killer if survivors get the key, that's just a fact. You cannot patroll all gens unless you're billy/nurse, survivors have to be absolute potatoes to not be able to do 3+ gens.

I second the OP. The number of keys IN CHESTS is absurd lately. Changing it after last event was a bad move. Btw, same as @Tzeentchling9 , I recently had a game where a survivor told me he found three purple/pink keys in three chests. I don't mind it if there's a 1% chance to find one, but it happens way too often.
Or give me a chance to search chests as killer, and occasionally find an Ebony :D

Seriously tho, not much you can do, there's no counterplay to it (Just like Legion hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm), Just put F in chat and move on i guess, it's as stupid as the hatch ngl and both are pretty annoying when you work your ass off to get nothing in return.

If each round were full of jumpscares and lasted 10-ish minutes, I'd probably play survivor more than killer, but I know I'm in the minority.

How is your anecdote any more accurate than mine? You're making the extreme claim that it's literally impossible to kill a survivor with keys based on what? A claim like yours would need actual dev statistics.
