PS4 Performance. Thank you BHVR
I was initially taken aback by the clear 720 scale down on models it seems. After playing a few games, I'm quite pleased with how the game runs on my PS4.
I must of been getting 40 FPS or so during certain spots. Pre 2.6 patch I was probably averaging 25 FPS. With dips in the low 20s being very clear.
I now run consistent 30 fps it seems. I don't know exactly what my FPS is... but it must be 5-8 FPS better. The game just runs better for me. Some textures don't seem as crisp. But I'll take the trade off.
Hopefully this is just a downgrade for a future upgrade to get things running better overall on consoles. For now... I'm pleased with the performance upgrade. Thanks.

You're getting better performance? Since the last two patches, mine will randomly freeze & crash. It never used to do that before.

I've not frozen at all. Not in a long time. I've only frozen maybe 3-5 times in over a year of playing.
I've had no performance issues since 2.6. The engine update to 4.21 was great. The game has never ran better for me.

I see the game running at 45 FPS for now but I hope this isn’t their fix for consoles because they literally butchered the resolution.

Yeah it's running nicely which is just awesome, but the resolution isn't too bad. Maybe they could get it to 900? I feel like the game is 720p now basically, but the menu and other things is 1080p still.

Huh. What kind of PS4 do you have? Because up until the recent patches, I had never frozen, but now I freeze all the time. I picked up a survivor off of a gen the other day and froze in place and had to d/c.

Just a regular one man. GOt it brand new about 3 years ago. I keep it clean and ventilated... I don't know man.

I don't know about you guys, but playing survivor isn't that bad but when it comes to killer I can't see a thing. I'm used to playing killer, I'm not saying I'm great, but I always used to be good (2-3 kills a game).But now I am ending up chasing survivors and soon I just lost them cause now they are perfectly blending with everything (and even survivors are avare of this cause I keep on seeing all characters just squating down in bushes - if I even notice them)

I'm with you on that one. I've been posting comparison shots in another thread pointing out just how bad it is. Playing killer is not fun like this.

I agree. It does seem a bit harder to see things as killer. As survivor I think it's very fine. Not much problem.
It might just be in your head though. I do about the same.

I'm on PS4 Pro and it doesn't run better for me. But it got blurry. Besides it not looking good, it also makes playing killer harder.
I don't like this "optimization" at all since it isn't one for me.

It looks awful, @Dwight_Confusion. It hurts my eyes when playing. I find it a lot harder to play killer because its darker and way more blurry. It needs to be fixed.

@Master No, we aren't. I have no idea why the op likes this "optimization" so much. There are other threads with people rightfully mentioning that it's way too blurry etc.
There is a lot to do. You can't do an optimization for console by simply reducing the graphics.

It definitely doesn't look better than before. There's no denying that, but I'm getting 5-10 FPS more across the board which is very nice to have.
I've only played 5 or 6 games since the update. I'll dig some more.

Thats how its done with any game.
You cant expect the same performance like PC on a less powerful hardware, it can only be achieved via downgrades

Has anyone else on ps4 noticed how incredibly dark all the maps have gotten. I was chasing a David on the game, downstairs and he literally tucked into a corner and I walked right past him. If the chase music didnt pop I would of had no clue where he went lol

Yes, dark and blurry. I've had chases start and end without me having been able to see the survivor with my eyes once.

The game is darker and very blury. It is very bad playing killer.

Good luck on finding Claudette and Tapp when chasing them down to the "House of Pain" basement in either Springwood or Haddonfield.
It's also ridiculously easy for almost any character to disappear in the Game's 1F, a Claudette hid into a locker literally in front of me and I saw nothing. I only knew because of the sound she made.

Its the same on PC.
Literally yesterday I chased a nea and aimed for her, but missed. First I thought I got auto-aimed into the wall as usual, but then an injured sound appeared and a P3 sprinted out of the dark....

I've had some pretty frustrating games of late. It is harder to see people as killer it seems. I agree.

After playing more. It's definitely not as good on the killer side of things. THings are a bit darker overall.
From the survivor side, the game hasn't played better. Still a bit dark.
I'd take this performance over what we had though.

It's like they released the version meant for the Switch on the PS4. I know a high-end computer will handle better graphics and a higher framerate than a console, but the PS4 isn't a toaster. DbD has never been making good use of the PS4's hardware, and now it looks like a PS2 game. I don't expect perfection, but when I'm regularly putting money into a game I expect better than this.

They will be working on performance these months. I believe this change was kind of necessary until a better optimization patch comes out. Imagine all that vomiting with the previous graphics. Consoles would be blowing up

I dont think this change was necessary. I had fps drops here and there, but nothing too bad. This change is negatively impacting gameplay (at least for me and some others). The game is way too dark and blurry when playing killer.

With this patch for me is unplayable on ps4 , too many dc for no reason , too many game crush , too many fps drop rate (Balanced landing , sloppy bucher, adrenaline , unhook or with killer when i hit a survivor that vaulting or kicked a generator)

@Master They have things like constant polling in their code when it should be event-based. That takes sooo much resource.
Take a look at other games like Overwatch or the new DMC 5. Look how amazing the graphics are and how smoothly everything runs on PS4.
It's not about the PS4 not being able to do the same as a PC. It's about that the PS4 can do A LOT when you code properly. DbD is not even a shooter or a slasher.

As a killer that uses stridor the new patch is death the chase sound is horrible and super loud as a nurse player on console its hard as it is let alone now sound issues plus visually @TragicSolitude listed it brilliantly tho awesome job 👍

i dont understand why in 2019 it is not possible to have a solid fps and a good looking game.
i mean DBD is really a very simple looking game. maps are not too big and there are no special effects like shooting, big explosion, jumping etc...

I agree with you guys. I tried playing again because DBD was my favorite game (before chapter 11 patch), but I just can't play it now. I could only play 2 games before my eyes started to hurt. Its also a lot harder to play killer. I'm hoping it gets fixed soon. 😓

Will making another thread get a patch fix quicker? As in impossible to play killer or to get a response about refunding I want to support this game I see how it's made improvements but I'm starting to wonder this 2 steps forward ten steps back is frustrating
