An Idea to Solve the DC'ing Problem with Rewards.

So there has been a lot of discussion lately regarding the constant problem of multiple DC's per match. Some reasons for DC's are legions, good addons/items, or toxic survivors. Many people have suggested that dedicated servers will fix this issue, if someone DC's too many times they get a timeout.

If this were to be implemented, however, survivors could easily commit suicide on a hook and killers can "afk" around the map for an equivalent of a poor man's DC. So, what if we turned the attention from punishing the DC'ers to rewarding those who stay in these unfun matches.

I have a couple of ideas that focus on giving extra bloodpoints to participants who stay in these unfun matches. The more unfun the match is, the more people are rewarded for not DC'ing. I want to make the maximum reward 5,000 points, the equivalent amount of a survivor escape. For equality, the killer side would get the same amount of points if they had an unfun match. Less unfun matches would result in less points. (And yes, bloody party streamers, cakes, or pudding would increase this.)

Now the real question is, how do we define an "unfun" match?

1) An unfun match can be the addons/items used.

Points for the survivor side per killer addon: 2500 per purple or mythic, 2000 per green, 1000 per yellow, and 500 per grey. I combined the purple and mythic because some killers don't even have mythic addons and some purple addons are way more unfun then mythic addons (looking at you franks mixtape).

Points for the killer side per survivor item: 1250 per purple or mythic, 1000 per green, 500 per yellow, and 250 per grey. Addons to those items would be worth 625/500/250/125 each (m or p, gn, y, gy). The amount of points wouldn't be able to go above 5000, it would cap. I think that it's way more situational for all survivors to be running purple or better items then a killer running 2 mythic/purple addons, so using survivor addons to help boost the bloodpoints yet still capping it seems fair.

2) An unfun match can be the determined off of who the killers/SWF are.

This one is way harder and probably less realistic to flesh out, giving more points to the more "unfun" killers/SWF. While the rarity of items/addons can be looked at objectively, saying whether a killer/SWF is fun or not is completely subjective. The only feasible way to determine this would be some sort of community survey, and going off from there. For SWF, we could just make it so that if 2 people are in SWF, 1250 points. If there are 2 sets of 2 different SWF's, 2500 points. If 3 people are in a SWF, 3750 points. If 4 people are in a SWF, 5000 points. Obviously, this would only be feasible with dedicated servers.

3) An unfun match can be how short the match lasted.

The main idea is that the shorter the match is, whether you get gen rushed or tunneled, the more bloodpoints you get. The only problem concerning this would be that "afk" killers or suiciding survivors could potentially get the maximum amount of points by literally doing nothing. My only counter to this would be to go off of the emblem system. If the survivors/killers got 0-1 points, max points set at 0. 2 points would net a max of 1250. 3 points would net a max of 2500. 4 points would net a max 3750. 5 or more would net a maximum of 5000, Keep in mind that these are the maxes, the bonus bloodpoints would still deteriorate over time (For the killers the timer would stop once all gens are done).

The reason I chose to reward players with bloodpoints is that if everything went smoothly, the DCing problem would go down and so would the bloodpoint grind. Having potentially 5k extra bloodpoints per match could be so good in the long run, and lift the burden off of peoples' shoulders.

Now, I'm not a game developer or anything, just someone throwing their ideas into the wind. The numbers can be tweaked. The categories can be scrapped. Just imagine a potential environment this could create in DBD, an environment where survivors say, "Legion with Frank's Mixtape and Cold Dirt? Sweet!" or killers say, "Should I dodge this SWF? Can't get extra bonuses that way!" I love this game, but jeez the community on both sides can be toxic sometime. Take this how you will, these are just some of my ideas :).

Tagging @Giddawid cause they wanted potential ideas for rewards.

People dcing just because of specific killer or addons are usually the ones that bring crutch stuff themselves.

Guess what, many killers have steam id lists of such players. Just saying.

@Bellers your idea and intentions are very good... but I am afraid its not possible. There is just no way to translate unfun match into code, no matter how hard you try. Guess what, good items cost a lot and are there to use, both for killers and survivors. If you bring nothing or weak stuff in its your choice. Survivors ofc have it easier with plunderers or ace in you hole.

Only thing i can agree on are penalties for dcing or just some points for survivors if one of them dcs during first minute.

Mate, the thing is... We gave devs so many ideas, so many concepts since release. But they just don't want to do it. It's not a lack of creativity of us, the community does a great job. In fact, I would say a better job than the devs if it comes to creativity, Reworks and new concepts. It's the devs who refuse to take our ideas.

Problem with that idea, imo, is that you are rewarding bad behaviour.

Someone DCing isn't caring about scoring in any fashion. So trying to offer them more points to stay probably isn't going to change their mind.

If everyone levels out in rank and is placed where they should be, then the chances of you having more FUN matches increases. Since you shouldn't be paired up with players who completely outplay you everytime.

So the idea is... as everyone get placed properly, which will take a month or two, is more fun matches for everyone. However match making is going to play an important role in that aswell.

They need to punish people who decide it is ok to start a match then decide they don't want to finish it for whatever reason. This punishment should be lighter on lower ranks, since they could be more new... but should be extremely harsh in the higher ranks, since your rank will depend on how well the opponent and your teammates play.

make it so if someone dc's they cannot get into the match for next 30mins.

@MaxiferPriest Or make it so that you get one "free" DC per day (because sometimes Life happens) and then you'd start ramping up the time-out on continuous DCs.
