Why the Hatch needs a rework

The hatch is such a bad mechanic, as I have experienced as a survivor and a killer. When I play survivor, my last teammate decides to hide instead of doing gens when I am distracting the killer. When I am inevitably caught and hooked, my teammate is hiding in a corner next to the hatch. The hatch demotes altruistic actions and makes the game unfun for the survivor slowly dying and the killer searching for the last survivor playing hide and seek. And it is obvious why the hatch is bad for killers, when killers kill three survivors and the last one is alive, the survivor has no reason to do gens as previously mentioned. They get a free escape without working for it, and in return the killer doesn't get a kill, not due to their lack of skill, but rather cause of a free escape option. The reason why I feel like it is such a big deal now is due to the new ranking system, and while I don't care for it, it does effect the ranking of killers negatively. Maybe the closing hatch mechanic that was previously tested would make the killers too strong, but I rather have that then the mechanic that is implemented at the moment. Maybe in order to escape via the hatch, you have to find 3 keys scattered around the map, Idk. What are your ideas of how the Hatch can be reworked?
