Back to the old matchmaking system... wow thanks 🙃

We are back FOR NOW.
They're working on making the new one better.
In the meantime, they don't want to keep seeing posts about how 4 rank 1s escape a rank 20 killer, or how every rank 20 survivors died with >5k BP against a rank 1 Killer.
And rightfully so, it can easily kill newbies' incentive to play.
For now, i recommend you prepare something to do while you wait.
I can't help you with your long load times, i never have them and am not a developer.

@fluffybunny Well, it’s how the game works now. The real source of their income is SWF.
I don’t see any other possible way they can appease everyone with the matchmaking system. There’s always gonna be somebody that’s unhappy with something, unfortunately.

@Boss Console has had these extremely long wait times for over 3 months now (besides when new DLC dropped.) Thank you for being understanding about the situation.

I must've been SUPER lucky because before the change I would match pretty fast, but yes I have no clue why they are removing it.

Console has multiple issues and it's laughable they released it in the state that it was.
It's not an excuse to keep it as it is, but just saying that i'm not surprised that they do.
All we can do for now is just bank on quick complete fixes and/or the servers.

I'll copy my post from the other thread here since it's relevant.
Matchmaking for me is a lot faster now also.
My previous survivor matchmaking times with the broken rank matchups (3/16/19):
2'51", 2'42", 2'21", 2'51"
Today's matchups for survivor:
27", 16", 25"
This is all with the rank difference being +/-1 or 2 at most.
Here's the thing. I didn't mind waiting few extra minutes so that other people can get faster lobbies. If my small sacrifice can get other people to get quicker matchmaking, then it is worth it.
But I DO NOT want to sacrifice new players into completely unfair games with veterans, nor do I want to force people into constant high ping lobbies. That's not the reason why I'm willing to spend few extra minutes for a lobby for.
Averaging out everyone's lobby wait times = ok.
New players repeatedly being stomped by veterans = NOT ok.
PS4, by the way.

I only hope that when they release dedicated servers they allow me to dodge those toxic SWF's because i'll be a weeeeeeeee bit salty

Back to the extremely long queue times again, I guess...
I'd much rather have short queue times than imbalanced matches. Atleast I get to play then.

They need to do away with ranks all together. This summer or whenever dedicated servers come maybe the could have an in game option for beginners and experts where it takes you to servers set aside for different skill levels or something. All this matchmaker confusion and long wait times is all due to there being ranks, if ranks had never existed nobody would know the difference. F13 don’t have a matchmaker that separates people by their player level and nobody askes for such a system that I’ve ever heard.

People here complain when they avoid all filters to why faster matchmaking with low ranks is better than long and balanced one.
Peoples forget the players that derank to avoid high rank killer and have easier matchmaking. it's not fun waiting 30min with a SwF only for weak killers and survivors complaining.
SwF is a problem but we are not talking about that on that thread just go on PS4, then create SwF wait 30min to have killers dodging. After 1 week come back and tell me how you feel. BHR is worse can't they make change by putting the servers in maintenance once in a while instead of disabling it totally.

Lol I’m on PS4, me and my friends are getting lobbies within 30 seconds back to back since the revert. Earlier today and over the past few days it was a struggle to even find a match with two or more players. Solo playing is also instant with all players at the same rank. Plus our ranks are (3-6)

@NeaJovovich Why am I *NOT* surprised that you’re acting like a complete child to someone who hasn’t disrespected you first?

@BoxingRouge Give it a week and then I’ll admit you have me beat

Clearly their feedback wasn’t all that welcoming if they reverted it. But at least we have something that’s working for now.

I'm not a cool red rank. I would make you hate me.

@boss and just think Nintendo switch gets to deal with this garbage. So funny 3 years later how every patch and event is bugged. I get how you can't test console but things still get released bugged on pc. How and more importantly why does it keep happening? What is the root cause?

This is bad news to me. I’ve never been so happy about a change In Dead by daylight that I get to play multiple games in an hour because that’s all that I have sometimes. Now back to 1 game a day if I get lucky. Why even start the game at this point might as well do something else with my time than play lobby simulator.

In new matching system, I have to wait 54minutes to find a match

On pc, rank 12 = instant lobby, fine with me.

Y’all need to relax. I’m sure they’ll soften emblem requirements to pip a LITTLE bit next to smooth things out. There’s no reason on either side to be bullying noob players. #feelsbadman sure the lobbies were quicker , but winning when it happened didn’t feel good. I’d rather be with people my own rank.

The problems I had with the new matchmaking system from a gameplay perspective is the following ;
- My wait times were effectively 4x longer, because although I would get survivors they would often leave because their ping was incredibly high and upon checking each profile with a high ping, they were often from Japan or South Korea when I'm NA or otherwise on the complete opposite side of the world. This often meant I would need to wait for multiple waves of survivors to even enjoy a match and in some cases everyone would leave my lobby out of boredom.
- As a red rank killer I was occasionally getting paired with rank 15s and I would even watch streamers who ran into the same exact thing constantly and see screenshots of it too which even showed rank 20s going against a rank 1 killer. It's a horrible feeling to play the game and have the match end really fast because you went against people who didn't have a clue about what they were doing and maybe even being responsible for why people quit the game. A person with nearly 2,000 hours should never be paired with someone on an opposing team who doesn't even have a minute into the game especially in a game like this.
While I do not doubt some people had improvements, I personally cannot support a system that allows experienced players to unintentionally steamroll new players. It's a system that can be improved and judging by the message we all got when they flipped us all over to the old matchmaking system - it will be improved.

This game is a complete mess lol

The new matchmaking is garbage but I expose my reasons.
- The new system does not take into account the ranges for example: a rank 1 is match with a rank of 20, it's absurd for a player rank 1 to play against players in other ranks so different because broken the balance.
- After waiting 2 or 3 minutes when u play killer enter the lobby and the survivors don't enter as quickly, I have been waiting for up to 5 minutes because there was left 1 survivor to enter.
- The waiting times had improved but it was noticed that the new matchmaking was a ******, it does not take into account anything only the geolocation and time.

My experiences with the new Matchmaking:
- incredibly slow: took much longer to find games in populous regions than before
- didn't make sense for the Killer: you get put into a queue A for x minutes to join a lobby that unlike what they said, isn't filled with 4 Survivors, but still empty and you were likely to wait another x minutes for it to fill up, greatly lengthening the matchmaking process and usually making it longer than the actual trial that would follow.
- didn't care much for ranks: most trials almost had a rainbow in rank colours.
- didn't care much for Ping: the majority of lobbies I'd join after x minutes as Survivor had the Killer having a red or yellow Ping, even during the busiest times of the Dead by Daylight day with the most players online at the same time.
It's clear that we need a new matchmaking eventually, the latest when we get servers, but this one wasn't ripe for the game yet. It may work in-house and for a select bunch during the PTB, but not yet for full scale. I'm glad they reverted it. It started to deter me from playing the game. And the infuriating, nonsensical double-queue as Killer had already stopped me from playing that side.

It’s so good not have to wait a long time. But I am a little curious about one thing, after the adjustment can we still meet people from all over the world? Actually it was a really fun time for me to play with people from different places.

Since revert today ive played 4 matches and waited 3 hours.
This is one of those "balanced" matches I got with the revert.
Waited 25 mins to get THAT matchup.
I'll take the temp MM we had. I at least got quick games and EXPECTED weird lobbies.

I understand that queue times are very important but the new matchmaking couldn't stay:
New players were getting matched with red ranks. These new players are only going to try playing DbD for some matches, make a lot of unfun experiences and never play DbD again.
I also know of not-new, but not-so-experienced players who stopped playing DbD because they were getting matched with high ranks. Yellow and brown ranks totally got scared off.
Also, a lot of lobbies were unplayable due to high pings.
The old matchmaking which is now back is not going to stay forever. It's just temporary until we get something better.

I can imagine the combination of new Emblem System and old Matchmaking to be really bad.
