Why I quit dbd (My Feedback)
So first off i want to start off by saying this is feedback for the devs so please avoid commenting stuff like "No one cares that you are leaving dbd" that;s not the point of this post its to give the devs feedback from my time within the game with my 1400 hours. Also i will be avoiding adding legion i'm sure even the devs understand he was a mistake.
Okay starting it off we are gonna dive into some known things that you guys have done that in my honest opinion have really hurt the state of your game and made it just not enjoyable.
1.) Added in Auto Aim Assist
This without a shadow of a doubt was one of the worst things you guys did it removed all skill from a killer using m1 and nerfed something that was only good on bad players to begin with.
2.) Buffed Hillbilly's Hitbox
As a billy main this bothered me mostly because it DIDNT solve the issue at all which was false hits instead it lead to billy a very good killer becoming even stronger i just didnt agree with this buff my opinion.
3.) The Amount of bugs and the time it takes to even get addressed
Im sure everyone has had the fair share of bugs in this game but the time it takes you guys to even ADDRESS them is a issue and seriously should be worked on more im sure everyone here would agree id rather have a better working game than cosmetics and a new killer.
4.) Hitboxes
make legit no sense anymore you can get hits that just dont add up and its not just ping based a lot of it is just the hit detection being so terrible
5.) Rank
it means nothing you get no reward for being a high rank nor is there really any reason to rank up because you just get sweaty players and longer lobbies.
6) Rank rest
Should have never became a thing in this game all it does it mess up matchmaking and just gives people a reason to bully lower ranks more.
7.) Hotfixes never happen
One thing i have seen is you guys never hotfix things anymore and again it goes back into the bugs section it adds up over time and creates even MORE unfun.
8.) One Sided Buffs
The whole idea of nerfing and nerfing and nerfing one side will not solve the issue in this game its just making things worse imbalance will always exist because of how the core is designed.
9.) Meta Enforcement
Ive noticed there is a lack of meta enforcement the devs claim they want new metas to start but avoid nerfing meta things for both sides and buffing non meta things to shift the metas more.
10.) No Communication
This is a big thing that drove me away was the lack of communication with this latest update the community gave you the feedback and im sure a lot said this patch had to many flaws and yet our feedback did nothing whats the point of a ptb if you will just ignore what we are telling you.
At the end of the day Dead by Daylight will always have a place in my heart but for now i think its time i explore more games i do hope the devs take this feedback and understand in no way shape or form am i trying to be rude im giving honest feedback about the little things that for me just got me to a breaking point with this game.

I stopped after reading the first point. DbD has no auto aim. The assist only makes for a smoother animation, nothing more. Hitboxes collide, it's a hit. Have you played one single match as a killer?

Dbd does have aim assist tap m1 close to someone it will legit move you towards their direction the fact you are even trying to say that does not exist is a yikes.

@Hexyl It's not an aim assist. It's an animation assist. The assist does not make hitboxes collide which wouldn't have collided. If you want to complain about hitboxes, that would be another thing. But claiming killers just have to blindly m1 to get their automatic hit is simply untrue. Just play a match as a killer and you will notice that there is no auto aim.
What you described just now is an animation correction.

I have 1400 hours in killer The fact that i can be looking away from a survivor tap 1 and mvoe slightly in a direction and the animation does the rest is auto aim even if its there for animation ITS still throwing you towards the survivor so again before you try to say hey play killer ive played killer to rank 1 multiple seasons.

I quickly want to point out, from one billy main to another, that this "big chainsaw hitbox" actually hurts skilled Billy players because you're not able to flick around objectives that close anymore without bumping into them.

@Hexyl There is a difference between an assist that smoothes animations and an actual aim assist. And as I said, after I read your first point, I didn't continue to read. I see no sense in discussing a non-existent aim assist any further.

And i still disagree the fact ive seen a survivor completely spin me and i still hit them with being guided towards them is a issue and i will gives the devs the benefit of the doubt maybes its unintention but there is something there anyways later not worth discussing with someone who does not want a rational discussion.

Are you a survivor main? Not that it's bad, just wondering cuz majority of your points are coming from survivor perspective, but there is even more bs going on from killers perspective

Can anybody post the "killer main btw" meme?
Also there is no aim assist, the only "aim" assist that killers have is the lunge automatically connecting to survivors that are within the hitbox, without this the game would be unplayable due to the unnatural acceleration of survivors during 360s.

Disagree 100% to 360 a killer took skill you ever noticed back than a lot of the good players didnt get 360'd its because they knew how to step back once the survivor ran towards them this whole 360's are an exploit is just stupid and the fact the devs actually believed it futher proves my point what else is a survivor to do? if there are no pallets is the survivor just to stand there and go welp i tried boys its a stupid logic but whatever

Not to mention the fact the chainsaw hitbox really does not help around certain tiles anymore because of the stupid hitbox size and it removed all skill from backrevving.

If there's no pallet or window then yes you get hit, simple.

You counter 360s by simply ######### lunging, the pseudo-autoaim does the rest. you can literally 360 yourself as a killer and will still hit them if you hold the lunge.

Aim Assist does exist as you've obviously contradicted yourself by stating. And 360s only work with dumb killers. The hell are you talking about? The ONLY way for a 360 to work with the way the EXISTING AUTO AIM works is for the killer to be mindfucked by exactly where you are and end up swinging too far away impulsively or just madly swinging without paying attention to the survivor's distance. Why do you think it's easier to 360 a legion? Because many of them are impulsive and try to end the chase too fast without paying attention to distance. They'll swing straight literally after you've ran left then turn left by swinging left, there is no "unnatural acceleration" 360 causing it to work. 360s should only be used as a last resort in a chase, that's how underpowered they are.

I'm still kinda new to this game Hexyl, but I'm experienced enough to understand most of what you're addressing and agree with sadly many if not most of them. Hope you find out when the game gets balanced and return if you still like it.

Lunging literally autoconnects to a 360ing survivor if you he even grazes your point of view during the lunge so yes, take a step back and lunge if somebody 360s.

It's still not an autoaim, it's an autoconnect. You wouldn't call a guy spraying and praying with an assault rifle an aimhacker would you?

interesting read, thanks a lot.
Please let me chime in on the Listening to Feedback part. My goal with the post is not to make an excuse but more explaining our though process.
Our goal with the PBT is so that players can give us feedback on the upcoming content and also find bugs or exploits in the balance that our small team could not find. Its simply impossible for us to find all variations and tricks on newly released content. Any online game faces that problem actually.
As for the feedback received, we do read and go through a lot of posts on our forum/reddit and look at stream/youtube to see what players think of the pbt. We take the feedback but it doesn't mean that we have to agree or put in everything. Even though it might seem that one specific point is a general opinion, just because there's a lot of post about it. There's always a number of players who will find it totally fine but keep silent about it. We take feedback and compare to our metric and also use our gut feeling in the process to choose what will go through or not.
For the Plague as an example, we got that some players feel that the fountains should not heal. We have playtested that scenario for weeks and came to the conclusion that they should heal to give even more incentive to Survivor to use them. We think its part of her balance are core design, and we have decided to leave it as is...for now.
But we did increase her vomit effect duration and Purge duration, based on feedback, since the original timing was perceived as not effective enough.
This is just a small example of how we deal with feedback. On a design principle its never good to makes a lot of changes all at once either. Especially since there is not much time left between the PTB and final release. We have to implement the changes, test them design/balance side and then send the changes to QA to make sure that these changes have not created bugs. We usually keep our ptb changes to value tweaks. Its impossible to do complete rework within that time frame.
I'm sorry that you have decided to leave the game. Although I hope that you will keep following it because they're a lot of changes that are coming up which have been community request for a long time (killer rework, gameplay changes, scoring rebalance, ranks...). I cannot mention them specifically, but I do hope we can announce them on our stream soon so you can see that the game is evolving based on what our player wants.

He made decent arguments and points without being condescending while also providing feedback and possible solutions. He used this forum the right way. Which is why he got a dev response. A lot of the killer mains who think they're funny on here aren't worth the time

Also it's either clear as day that OP has no clue about balance or that he's a survivor posing as a killer main, as always. You don't hear killer mains on twitch touting how killer has become too easy.

I am sorry but your feedback is not very accurate. Mostly because the forums are dominated by forum killers. They're very loud and active, they spend more time on the forums than in-game because they're not very good and want the game changed in their favor. Every post that is even remotely survivor sided they bombard it with troll replies and all sort of crap. They have thousands of post, it's very easy to spot them.
That's why the game is so killer sided now and every game a survivor DCs or suicides on the hook, because you received the wrong feedback. Feedback from rank 15 killers that can't evolve and want to be rank 1 like their false prophet tru3talent.
I know it sounds harsh, but it's the truth and if you don't see it now, you will see it at some point, hopefully it won't be too late because you created a really beautiful game and I'd hate to see it go.

Killer rework? As in in general, or specific killers? This is interesting.
Sorry that you're leaving the game but I do agree with some of your points. Bugs don't get fixed quick enough and hitboxes are a bit iffy as well. But with the 360's, there's not much you can do as a killer on console you'll eventually hit them and I simply just wait out the 360 but when you're not expecting it, therefore there's more skill in countering the 360 than actually doing it on console, not to mention its considerably easier to 360 on console with the controller. The game has problems, but I'm just hoping they get fixed eventually

@Janick Thank you for taking the time to read my post also thank you for the great reply to explain a little further what i meant by the comment regarding the ptb it just felt like and i cant speak for the whole community for i know for a fact a lot of people felt you ignored our feedback regarding a lot of well known problems with the update i just wish you guys would be a little more transparent with us on these things at the end of the day the community and devs need to work together to help this game improve and thats all ive ever wanted from you guys.
I understand 100% that not everything we say is right but i dont know the results of the ptb but everyone i know was so disappointed by this recent patch even the steam charts is reflecting that a little but seriously i really do thank you for the response also i will continue to follow the game and hope to see a bright future soon.

Here's some facts for you. Killers still have no chance against survivors that just do the goal. Do most play like this? No because it's ridiculously boring. But the point still stands that they COULD play like this.

Legion rework that puts him into craptier while making him less fun to play=I will absolutely dedicate my time to ruin the game for survivors by using insidious leatherface. Some ppl paid real money for using those chars yet the devs think it's completely okay to break them.

This is completely inaccurate and is opinions you wouldn't have if you played killer at any meaningful rank.

The source of a feedback is just as important as the content of it. The forum is full of biased players that never bothered to try the other side, how credible is their feedback? It's worth nothing to me.
I think most of us know how you deal with feedback, that process is not unknown. What matters to most of us is: WHY?
- Why does rank reset exist?
- Why is there no ranked / casual mode?
- Why did you implement Legion?
- Why is Freddy still not reworked?
- Why did you change the Emblem System in such a horrible way?
- Why did you change the matchmaking in such a horrible way?
- Why is SWF still not balanced?
- Why is Nurse (or her add-ons) still not balanced?
- Why are double pallets reintroduced?
... countless questions that lead to discussions on a daily base, simply because we don't know the answer.
If you could give some logical explanations for your decisions, maybe it would help us understand why things are the way they are. Maybe we could convince you that there are better solutions possible? Or maybe you can convince us that you did the right thing, even though it looks like a big mistake?
Also, how do you playtest stuff? Does it happen within your studio or do you let a team of experienced Killers & Survivors playtest and see how they perform?

Also, Hexy as others have said there is no auto aim. What you are misinterpreting as auto aim is a visual correction and nothing more. They have explained this thoroughly in previous streams. Whether you hit or don't hit is determined at the time of your swing, so long before you are actually seeing the killer connect on your screen. The game just makes the killer move correctly to have it look like his weapon did hit if a hit was indeed supposed to be registered.
