Proposition for "optimal" SWF balance
Hello, this is a small proposition for SWF.
Disclaimer : Before that i want to point of that for me SWF alone is not a problem as the main source of the problem is link to the gamecore of the game. However SWF give the ability to push this even further. I said that with more than 1100 h and as a both side player (more exactly i play based on ritual).
The idea i wanted to propose is to propose two kind of SWF but they will not be split up to another matchmaking in order to avoid any conflict and long waiting time. When you will join "survive with your friend", the game will propose you two options : "casual mode" and "ranked mode".
1) In "casual mode" :
=> All the survivors together will not be able to rank during this game.
=> The killer and others survivors (not in the group) will not be able to rank down but will be able to rank up (in order to avoid group of SWF who will want to try hard).
=> The killer and others survivors will know they are in swf and in this casual mode.
=>All addons, lose items, offering , will be consume and not give back.
=> BP will be award anyway.
=> SWF and others survivors will not encounter any specific malus.
2) In "rank mode" :
=> As curently : everyone will be able to rank up and rank down.
=> The killer and others survivors will know they are in swf "rank mode"
=>All addons, lose items, offering , will be consume and not give back.
=> BP will be award anyway.
=> SWF and survivor side in general will receive malus which will increase depending the rank of each survivors and the number of people in SWF. This malus will influence : the number of pallet on the map, the repair speed and eventually give external malus (less perks, entity blocker which appear only now after 2 vault, ...).
Of course there is a risk that people who want to rank up will just use the previous strat in order to joint their friend but it could be an idea to test as it allow SWF who want to play for fun to not feel any pressure as for the killer .

Why not allow only 3 perks for 3 survivors in SWF? Or 2 if they're 4

I wanted first to split up the idea of people who want just to play for fun and discovering and the people who search to really rank up.
For perks : the main issue is that just limit the number of perk is useless as you can pretty much survive and even more in swf without perks (so removing them wouldn't change much).

Trying to directly nerf players for using SWF is both futile and infuriating. I vividly remember going out of my way to randomly match with my friends just to avoid those kinds of things

Voice comms already include more perks that you can bring normally, so that idea is kinda flawed

That is a risk.
However you will leave to people a choice :
=> Play in SWF in a "unranked" mode where they will be able to play for "fun".
=> Play in SWF in a "serious" mode where they will need to struggle in order to survive.
We could also try to balance the gamecore first for solo and SWF but that would make more work than the devs can handle sadly (no offense for them but on some little things, they have progress to do)...

Much simpler solution: keep current unbalanced settings of survivors vs killers in invite-only mode, whereas in general ranking mode, nerf the killers, who're way unbalanced to play against for stranger-survivor players.

Again. None of this is reliable enough. At any given moment there are only a few unfilled lobbies, so the odds of randomly being matched with your friends is high.
DO NOT TRY TO BALANCE SWF USING VARIABLE GAME RULES!

it's more like giving solo's swf advantages, like "being chased" icons, built in kindred and totem counter in the HUID to balance killer, survivor and maps better without ruining any mode, more like improving.

Could you explain more your point of view ?
Currently my idea will change nearly nothing : you will just have an option to choose how you want to play as you will follow the exact queue system (unless the gamecore get change to balance everything but as devs are unable to do it because they can't identify all the problems ...).
Also you listen to people : they want to play with their friend without carring much about ranking , so play in an "unranked" mode will be fine for them, no ?

Not really as the gamecore is not balance already against solo survivors IF they know the basis. Without forgetting that your idea add quite some balance issue ...
Of course the idea will not solve the gamecore issue but would reduce the unbalance for swf and create a "swf friendly " mode ....
