The Lobby Countdown Should Be Annoying

Ok so we’ve all seen it multiple times.

Problem: Somebody was waiting to join a lobby and they got up to stretch their legs. They join, but don’t know it, so everyone has to wait for the entire countdown. The game starts, and the character doesn’t move. Lights are on, but nobody’s home. Killer hits ‘em to shut the annoying crows up. On the way to hook they actually start struggling.

Bad for that survivor. Bad for his team. No fun for the killer.

Solution: In the lobby, once there are 4 survivors and the countdown starts, every second should emit a loud, shrill, annoying beep. Once you “ready” your character, the sound stops. There could also be a button to mute the sound if you’re still customizing your character, but you would need to push this button again each time you join a new lobby. With this button, we at least ensure that the player is present

The goal isn’t to annoy people, but to alert those who are afk that it’s time to come back.

I think this would also make matches start more quickly as we won’t be waiting for the entire countdown as often. Furthermore, survivors will more often have their entire team to rely on.

This is Interesting and well thought through idea.

There is just one hole: a lot of people play on headphones.

Whoops! Good point! Maybe we should make screen flash as well then (in a slow frequency that does not affect epilepsy, of course).

Main thing is that there’s alwaaaaaays 1. Just one. A player who is not ready and we have to all wait while it counts down to 5 seconds. As killer I tell myself I’m gonna get that guy first! (But who am I kidding, I’m going after the first survivor I see! 😏)
