Please change console wiggle to a button. (I also second the hold to struggle!)
The joysticks weren’t made for that much intense, constant wear and tear and it’s going to shorten the lifespan of our controllers. I have already noticed that on my controllers, sometimes the stick has trouble catching on to the wiggle now.
This is also an accessibility issue. I know a lot of people, whether they’re disabled, have weak joints, or have carpal tunnel struggle (hehe) with both wiggling and struggling. Me personally (I am disabled) I literally cannot use my right hand to struggle because my finger is too slow to respond to the fast struggle time; I technically can do it with my left, but there are times it fails me because my finger (being double jointed and having a slight case of swan neck deformity) locks up - in addition to the harsh controller mechanics.
Change wiggle to pressing and holding L1/LB
Change struggle to press and hold X/A.

I use a controller to play survivor on PC, and I thought that by rotating the stick I was getting the maximum wiggle, turns out you need to flick that bugger back and forth to get the best wiggle speed... I don't want to ruin my controller so yeah, I +1 this change

Please, I have broken so many controllers because of Wiggle being what it is, and Spamming A has never hurt it so much

Agreed. I always feel like I'm going to tear the controller apart when I wiggle.

The devs said that struggling is supposed to feel like struggling and holding down a button wouldnt be "struggling"

Accessibility is a difficult argument in a game like this, because people can abuse that to gain an advantage.
Having said that, options I would like to see:
Tapping for struggling.
Wiggling of the stick for hook struggle.
The choice to spread tapping across two buttons instead of just one.
The ability to change key binds for struggling.
And just for fun, sixaxis.

The only buttons I'd be ok with are the triggers, L2 & R2 or LT & RT. Make it where they have to be fully compressed over and over. Any of the face buttons would be too easy.
Or, like @SamuraiPipotchi said, sixaxis. Wiggling the remote around would work too.

Slow circular spins work for wiggle AND no real wear and tear or "missed/buggy" wiggle imput.
ITS NOT HARD!

I find my L2 has taken sufficient damage from this game

Um, no offense, but it’s literally about a button press. It literally cannot be abused anymore than it already is (letting go, afk) but it would help people’s fingers and controllers and keyboards. There is no skill in pressing x repeatedly or wiggling to escape before hook - it’s just a burden on your equipment.

@pemberley Theres sort of a point to be made about timings and pacing, but admittedly I was being more generalised than I perhaps should have been.

Dont wiggle so damned hard? Mashing the stick or slowly turning it gives the same exact wiggle progression. Wiggling in this puts less wear than a match of COD would. Unless you mash the ######### like its Mario party 4.
