Fourteen Second Chances
Anyone else having a hell of a time dealing with all the second chances?
As a Hag main I only have M1 so MoM is a chore to deal with when it's combined with everything else.
Maybe it's just an off night, but it sure feels like there are far too many of these.
Add to that that they're being stacked with most every other combination of second chance perks then multiplied by 4.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
Edit: @Blueberry Here you go, I made a video on it using this same match I'm referencing in this thread as the background video.

You are not. MoM wasn't a good idea. Combined with other perks, in the hands of a coordinated SWF, I also feel these are too many second chances.

Fellow Hag main here (and Huntress main)
Last night was my worst experience in this game. Every game since this update has been nothing but hardcore gen rushers with toolboxs and prove thyself. I'll probably become a survivor main, I see no point in playing a role that is solely there to entertain the survivors.

MoM should not trigger with Phantasm Attacks. And also not wih Hatchets.
MoM is now used a lot. It is not that good. People will stop using it, since it is not as good as the Meta Perks. It is decent and tbh it is good that there are finally decent Perks with a Survivor. The last 4 Chapters at least brought nearly no good Survivor Perks.
2 -
This was only one of several matches like this and I honestly believe that this was NOT a SWF group.
@not_Queen These matches aren't fun and they're becoming more and more frustrating to deal with. What can be done about this?
16 -
We finally got ds fixed and dbd just had to be all “hey killers, you thought ds was fun wait until you run into head on (let’s be perfectly honest, that was literally designed for those cocky locker jukers) and mom and ff!” It’s a bit like trading getting glassed in the face for getting the crap beat out of you with a baseball bat.
Don’t get me wrong I am ALL for second chance perks on the condition it’s a genuine second chance and you’re being tunneled and camped but in the current state of the game, it’s not a second chance and more like freebies and taunts to troll killers.
12 -
Complains about second chances.
Uses NOED and Rancor.
sigh
18 -
@NoShinyPony Here's a 2k from SpaceCoconut which is benchmark for killers to get. Take note that 3 survivors are using MoM (plus other strong perks) and he still got benchmark on sacrifices, see far from unplayable as demonstrated.
6 -
Yes, my two second chances compared to the survivor's collective 14.
Rancor was tied to STBFL to try to deal with MoM since it kind of helped with the hit recovery.
NoED is for Adrenaline which the majority of survivors are currently using as evidenced by the image I provided.
20 -
Oh boy, please stop with that 16 vs 4 Perks stuff. It is annoying. LIke I said in another thread, with that logic, Survivors are faster than Killers, because they move at 400% Movement Speed.
If you use NOED, you dont have any problems with people using MoM and Adrenaline at this point, because MoM will not trigger. Besides that, it should not trigger by Phantasm Attacks (I did not play Hag yesterday or vs Hag, so I cannot confirm this yet based on my games). It does not trigger with Nurse Blinks, so it should be the same with Hag.
And then you have more than M1.
In the end, MoM will not be used that often. It is, right now, because it is new. But this will stop, because while it is a decent Perk, there are many Perks who are simply better than MoM.
10 -
@Nickenzie take note that the issue isn't winning or losing but the frustrating nature of the matches and how it is not fun for some people to deal with this many second chances.
2 sacrifices after fighting through 14 second chance perks and two insta-heals is not fun nor is it balanced.
It's been mentioned by many people how the devs cannot balance around a 2k 2e ratio. But I'm sure you'll just disagree so I'll leave it at that.
The matches are becoming more frustrating and less fun. This isn't about burning out and needing to take a break because I pace myself and don't play enough to burn out.
I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels this way and hopes that the situation changes.
13 -
"My mom is ready"...
Other than that we know why Dark Devotion doesnt work on Nurses blink
0 -
@Nickenzie We haven't seen the match. As long as the survivors make enough mistakes, they can bring even 4 insta-heals with all the perks they want and the killer still gets a 4k.
The problem is: It's all about the survivors making mistakes.
Another example: When I 2k with Freddy, that doesn't mean that Freddy is in a good spot and perfectly balanced. It just means that the survivors didn't play well.
10 -
@Aven_Fallen Your logic isn't sound.
Each survivor has 4 perks and in this case they collectively have 14 perks that give them a second chance.
Let's say you need 6 hits in total to down a survivor three times and hook them.
A killer needs to connect with 24 swings in order to sacrifice each survivor.
Adrenaline will heal a survivor causing a killer to need an additional hit on each one which adds up to 28 swings.
There were two insta-heals which brings the hit total up to 31.
MoM x3 in this match brings the total to 34.
Unbreakable brings the total to 36
Deliverance brings it to 37
Borrowed time is tricky so we'll only add 2 for that one for a total of 39
Dead hard will add an additional 3 swings if we work under the assumption that I don't fall for it after they use it the first time.
This brings the total hits to 39 and 3 extra swings in this example. This is enough to down and sacrifice 6 survivors with the 7th escaping through the hatch.
We won't talk about survivors who get healed, missed swings due to loops or pallets.
THIS is why the killer is facing off against 16 perks and your 400% logic fails.
16 -
The 400% is not logic. 16 Perks vs 4 Perks is also not logic. 400% Movement Speed just grabs this "logic" and shows how abstruse it is.
6 -
When in doubt, run Bubba's basement with insidious.
1 -
Just adapt!!!11!
Use insidious Bubba, Billy with strong addons or nurse. Legion with Frank's mixtape works aswell. Ahh, don't forget to use moris.
On a serious note, a lot of killers are absolute garbage now cuz if that perk. Most of them weren't strong anyway, but now they are absolute #########. Not worth the stress and frustrating
1 -
Hi, Space. You have great videos. No, you're not alone. Apparently so was redesigned DS. But it still happens in the game.
1 -
I play only survivor right now, but I feel for every killer that gets ######### up by my MoM, DS, BT and SC combo.
It is just horrible to play against survivors who run it, so I've decided to play as the worse part of the community.

Wait until you run into an Adren/BT/DS/MoM squad, @SpaceCoconut :D
5 -
I agree, it is out of control. The amount of second chance perks is ridiculous. They are not healthy for the game and then they go and release another. I thought they had learned from their mistake with DS.
7 -
It's 1 step foward 2 steps back with these devs, lol.
9 -
Btw Coconut it would be nice if you released a video talking about this as well in detail that you could add to your post.
1 -
@SpaceCoconut You're not alone, man.

It would be fair if I can recieve a free MORI every match, those are hard to get, you know
2 -
holy #########.. LULS
I haven't laughed soo hard after reading some of these post in the beginning.
Some you are acting like MOM has been out for a month or so and you are getting it all the time... LULS
Hey... It was released yesterdays... not even 24 hours ago....
LULS
You don't expect people not to try out the perk with different combos..
I can't believe my eyes with the trash I'm reading already from some people.
9 -
I use DH instead of BT, but I can basically confirm this is cancer to go up against.
My proof? Playing with this build a lot yesterday and making a mockery of multiple killers.
Nobody should play killer with all the second chances survivors are given.
0 -
Wait so you killed 2 and you're using Franklin's and two insta down perks and you got 29k BP. If that's not a successful match then you need to lower your expectations
12 -
@DudeDelicious but that isn't what the majority of survivors want... Haven't you picked that one up yet? Why put out a perk that players don't want.. cause everyone then bitches about how the Devs keep putting out ######### perks. They put out a good perk.. the other side can only complain about it.
I don't think people still get the idea people don't want ######### perks all the time. Putting out a stealth perk might be good for killers but isn't good for survivors.
Killers be crying IT'S OUT OF CONTROL!!!...
Holy #########

Someone doesn't like to read the whole thread to see if someone already asked him about it. His response is here:
6 -
I can feel you, mate.
Its not only second chances perks that are keep stacking at survivor and multiplied by SWF, but its even further - a lot of SWF teams using OoO perk for 1 or even 2 ppl in squad and they keep voicing each other all your movements and position. Not to mention you can't mindgame OoO person while trying to chase and hook him up.
Number of safe loops and pallets on maps adds to second chances counts even if killer can force each pallet pretty fast, not to mention transparent walls of killer shack/loops in corn maps where you can sink time for eternity. When you finally down one surv its always second one trying to distract you with flashlight or two of them bodyblocking to waste even more time. If survivor is competent enough at chases and feels distance when he needs to drop pallet and move to next loop killers without antiloop options will end up in 3 gens done during single chase. And for those who will say - l2play - no, its not in killer's power to end chase fast, chase ends fast when survivor does mistake or two. Its just game mechanics that works against killers - as soon as you start to gain bloodlust to end loop surv drops pallet which you forced to break or loop becomes infinite - you lose bloodlust stacks and surv moves to next loop.
If killer drops chase as soon as he see it's time waste and moves to next person - its just all starts anew - time sinking chase while gens pops around like crazy, especially at big maps.
Hex perks are dull for most cases - totem spawn location are so dumb and clearly visible/audible for experienced survs that its not even funny. I do use NOED lately cause of that many second chances and it gets cleansed in first 30-60 seconds most of times. Ruin is not even a problem - survs just do tapping technique and skill checks never happen. And there are no other perks that can help slow down match at the beginning. Corrupt Intervention is bullshit and doesn't work at all.
Playing killer is pretty frustrating nowdays - if you happen to get SWF or just decent survivors - your chances to get even 2k is pretty ghostly. Yes, I still manage to get 4k games, but most of times it happens in two cases - surv's skill are not very high or they just start bming by bodyblocking, flashlighting and just running in circles around me with all team. That behavior totally provoked by dev's recent changes to ranking system and tons of second chances perks which allow to not afraid of beeing hit/hooked. And even when I have 4k games I can only black pip/1 pip at most which is plain moronic.
As Hag main I can still have those trap hits on survivors which I could never had with other killers and its still very frustrating to play nowdays.
1 -
So he does really well but had to work to earn the kills and BP and that's frustrating? If you do well and you're still frustrated then this probably isn't the game for you.
It's like beating Dark Souls and then complaining that it was too hard.
I would be very pleased with the same results. It's not a problem with the game, but with the player's perspective and preferences.
7 -
And no, I'm not going to read every post in every thread. He could have linked to his reply if he wanted, or ignored me. You don't have a responsibility to step in for someone else.
3 -
+1 brother remember the time that killers said to us just adapt? now its time for them to adapt XD
2 -
They fixed DS and now we get this, it's like we can never catch a break or something, i don't even know how that perk got approved, it's like they don't play the same game as us, i'm baffled...
3 -
Some people sleep. Get over yourself.
5 -
@Plu I'm convinced that it's their balance philosophy that's causing all these problems. It'd be a different story if they changed the balance from a casual focus to a more competitive one.
3 -
I don't use Rancor for the exposed effect, especially since my obsession tends to get sacrificed before the gens are done. I use Rancor as a tracking perk because i like the snapshot of survivor locations.
0 -
It's an unpopular opinion that I have but it's not always about survivors making the mistakes, it also about your skill as the killer as well. Whenever you sacrifice a survivor, you don't feel like it was soon fed to you because you had to perform mind games and give survivors that opportunity to screw up. Survivors failing for your mind games isn't always in their control, sometimes you played that mind game so well that they are forced to screw up or regardless of what they do, they risk taking a hit. You see this a lot with unsafe pallets such as the "-- |" loops, you force the survivor there and you fake one side. They either vault and take a hit or risk the possibility of you not faking and take a hit. It's a guessing game that the killer controls and yes, I'll admit, time is always a factor against killers. However, if we were to rework the survivors' objectives, killers would be fine. At the end of the day, not every game will be easy and you'll have to do more than usual to earn your kills. The same applies for survivors when their teammates are performing poorly.
Note of appreciation: Even through we don't agree on most topics, I appreciate our civilized conversations (even when I'm wrong). ❤
3 -
I saw the video, that was horrible. Although, you should have sacrificed the stacks, downed the obsession, found the other guy at the gen and won, STBFL counters hook farming, even with MoM.
But that perk is still ridiculous.
1 -
Lol what? I said you could respond to me or not, that's your choice.
0 -
Just use only instadown killers. @DudeDelicious stealth is already best way to beat every killer. Survivors just don't care. Also if killer doesnt find and hook survivors couple of times noone pips in game.
1 -
Your logic is based on false fallacies. You make correlations that can't be done and assumption based on false statements.
I seriously hope you're not a student who has to turn in any academic papers, because I see you fail every single one of them should you argue your theses with the same wrong argumentations you use on here.
7 -
@DocOctober don't call people unintelligent, I myself, am an above average student in college, but I'm dopey as hell online, and to an extent in real life, but I'm not stupid. Don't assume that they are, they could be like me lol.
2 -
@SpaceCoconut Its time to move on, I am pretty sure you will find some killermains that wanna group in a nice SWF and rush some killers into oblivion
1 -
I simply made a comparison. I'm not saying that he's not intelligent, just that his way of arguing lacks any logic or reason. And that an academic paper done that way would fail.
6 -
@DocOctober Oh right. I see. By the way, I love how you update the shrine every week on your website, it's really helpful when I don't have time to log in.
2 -
Appreciated.

@SpaceCoconut "Take note that the issue isn't winning or losing but the frustrating nature of the matches and how it is not fun for some people to deal with this many second chances."
I will say the same thing to you here that I said in the comments on the YT video...
PLAY SOLO SURVIVOR AT RED RANKS.
Heck you can even play some SWF too. You will quickly see why these types of mechanics are necessary once you get killers that stack everything in their favor too and then hard tunnel or camp.
You will get games where you get found by the killer first and they have strong perks/add-ons where they catch you in 20 seconds, then they will hover around your hook and make it near impossible for someone to save you. And then in the chance someone does make the save, killer will be RIGHT THERE to put you back on the hook. You will depip and it will be just as frustrating as what you are dealing with as killer.
You will get games where the killer does this to someone else, and when that person dies on a hook and you lose your Benevolence, that's a depip where there was NOTHING you could have done.
You will get games where a killer let's someone save you only to tunnel you down and mori you 60 seconds into the game. You will barely get any BP and depip.
Oh and least we forget bad survivors. You will get games with BAD survivors that NEVER come to save you even if the killer isn't camping (rare nowadays but still), or survivors that never do gens and spend the whole game looking for Ruin, leaving you to do 2 gens yourself, and then you will do those 2 gens and die then some Dwight that hid all game will take hatch.
You will get games where survivors sandbag you or run the killer straight to you (intentionally or not) and it will get you killed.
You will get games where the killer slugs you for the full 4 minutes after a 30 minute game because they desperately want a 4k (which BTW is not a 4k, a 4k means you hooked/mori'd all 4, bleed outs are not rewarded and therefore it is not a 4k IDC what you killer mains say).
You will get games where you are completely outplaying a killer then POP, they DC and you depip automatically.
You will get games against killers doing off-meta builds that are super lame to deal with. Those 3 gen Docs on Game where they just use Distressing and heartbeat add-ons to make it IMPOSSIBLE to avoid Madness 3 for anything more than 30 seconds. Huntress pink hatchet slug rush builds where they whack you with a hatchet and leave you there to bleed out. FMT Legion with Sloppy and Thana and Ruin, you will be lucky to get 2 gens for hatch.
There is a lot of BS on survivor side too, stuff you never see because you're not playing survivor at red ranks. Heck this happens at all ranks, but it is ESPECIALLY egregious at red ranks considering the new ranking system requires you to play perfectly and get lucky to even have the opportunities to gain a pip.
The door swings both ways. There are problems all over this game, and while it is on the devs to fix them, there are no easy solutions. I'm sure they know MoM would cause backlash especially after the DS changes, but they can't just make useless perks else why even bother?
McLean has talked about a lot of changes coming to the game, but it's not going to all happen at once. Game dev takes time, change doesn't happen overnight. They can't just gut the entire game, they have to make changes here and there, WAIT to see how it plays out (and by wait I mean like months to get the feedback/data they need to make informed decisions), and then take more time (ie. months) to figure out, test, and implement a solution.
If you are frustrated with killer, play survivor. Just do it. It will be a different experience for you. And I don't mean just play a game and be silly, actually do your best to rank up. At first it will probably be easy because you understand the game, but then, probably around rank 10 or so, you will hit a wall. You will run in these killers or survivors I mention above and you will begin to see why survivors play the way they do.
7 -
Stop crying and listen to how they handle about the killers.
