Streamer Privileges
I would like an HONEST answer to a simple question.
Why are particular streamers getting special treatment over other people? I've had MULTIPLE friends who have been banned for DC'ing from matches/Toxic Behavior and I've seen a lot of the top streamers since the release of the game have been constantly disconnecting/verbally harassing people without any sort of punishment.
These top people are the reason for a large percentage of the toxicity that has been occurring since the birth of this game. Some of these people that you call "Fog Whispers" have their communities personally attack people on Steam and the Twitch platform. Keep in mind, these are people who you've chosen to represent YOUR company.
Most of them are probably close to the development team and lets be realistic here, I don't actually expect anything to ever be done about this. Wanted to vent my frustration and I hope I'm not the only person who feels this way.

Do your friends play 6+ hours a day every day of the week?
A lot of the streamers left playing have thousands of hours in the game.. They’re within the threshold based on their playtime.

1-3k hours depending on the person you're asking about. Not sure what that matters though, it's not acceptable regardless if you made a life commitment to this game or if you're someone with only a couple of hundred hours.
If I recall correctly too you're an old school DBD streamer who actually does the exact thing I'm talking about in this post, so I don't really expect you to understand where I'm coming from. Nothing personal though.

I was hit with a week ban back in October for DC’s. I don’t really even play anymore.
I’ve clocked in maybe 40 hours this year? That’s the most I’ve played in two weeks this year.
They don’t go over the threshold. You say they receive special treatment. Everyone is treated the same.. You should ask for the DC punishment threshold to be changed.

You'd think it would be the opposite and the Devs would be Harsher with the rules when it comes to fog whisperers since Their actions left unpunished make it seem like BHVR promotes that kind of behavior by association.

Very true many posts have been made most have been shut down or edited but nothing is done. Yet still its actually very bias also some of the devs host these streamers knowing full well they dc and promote dcs as a fun so yeah they are given special treatment!
They know how to avoid the dc ban threshold because they know the amount or warned they need to calm down. Its OK to dc learn from these fog whispers new people welcome to the game BTW its especially is OK if you feel like you don't want to be hooked, downed mori or like the killer you vs. The message is loud and clear glad this subject is still getting attention.

Because those streamers are part of their marketing to help them make money. If you stream and a hundred or more people watch you can do pretty much what you want. The devs even admitted they were part of the marketing on a stream so they get all sorts of privileges, not just not being banned.

You can't say anything about their Fog Whisperers, if you do, they end up tweeting about it on twitter lol, hell i know someone on here that likes to do such thing and he ain't even a Fog Whisperer, dude needs help.
In all seriousness though, people ask me why i hate Twitch and why i hate the people that call streaming a "job". It's a simple reason tbh, Most streamers that i see are only in it mostly for the money, they don't care about the people in their chat, nor do they care about anything as long as they can get some money out of it.
Now, some would go on to say that not all streamers are in it for the money, and tbh, the only streamers that me myself genuinely enjoy is Annemunition, or some other small streamer that i watch on occasion.
DBD streamers are a special kind of breed though, with these streamers i hate both them and the community they have created, and it's not because of them making a name for themselves or anything. It has something to do with exactly what OP has said in his thread, and sometimes you can't even say things about said streamers because they always take it to heart, and they make a big deal about it.
They sit there and make these little passive-aggressive comments, just so they can sit there and make themselves look good in front of their audience that it just really puts me on edge, and then you have people out there sending them their own hard earned money simply because they "get them through the day" that it just sickens me to my stomach, a cup of coffee gets me through the day, not some half assed person who sits on their ass playing video games.

We don't give special treatment to anyone. Regarding disconnects specifically, the current system is based on a threshold. If someone disconnects above a certain percentage of their matches over a period of time, they will automatically be flagged and banned. There is no filter for who gets these bans, the system treats everyone equally. Some of the streamers you see play the game for six or more hours per day and play a large number of matches. In comparison, the percentage of their matches that they disconnected from ends up being relatively low.
The system is not perfect at the moment and we hope to improve it sometime after dedicated servers launch. In the meantime, we are doing the best that we can with what we have available.

So whatever happened to the official response to deranking queen promises us during the dev stream when this started blowing up?
I love that you respond to the community, it's great, but so far we keep getting "yeah we're totally listening" followed by radio silence for months other than "we're totally working on stuff!"

@Peanits You guys should lower that threshold by like...half of what it is.
If you play 500 and quit 50 you still ruined 50 matches...

Yeah the issue with the Threshold is that it is based on a percentage rather than a fixed number. Since streamers play allot, usually, they will never reach a percentage threshold.

I do respect you responding to the thread even though it's a basic PR cookie cutter response and do appreciate that you can see there are definitely flaws in your system.
This thread is definitely about more than just disconnects though, at least for me anyways.
Edit - Regarding the "Threshold", that needs to be one of the first things changed. Regardless of how many hours someone has played they ruined games for people and in turn caused a mass ripple effect that has ruined thousands of games for others.

No special treatment....so the devs dont invite people to their studi, dont make streamer specific cosmetics, dont give them special labels like fog whisperer, dont talk directly with them when they form depip groups....
Yep. Totally believable they get no privileges or special treatment. If they truly dont then you can see why people believe otherwise.

You missed the part where people are saying a streamer has said they’ve been warned to calm down. Does anyone else get warnings before a ban? THAT is streamer privilege

The 'system' may be fair but that doesnt mean the people using it are.

It’s based off playtime- if you play ten matches and disconnect in four of them, it’s going to hurt you more than if you play a thousand matches and disconnect a hundred times. You might see the streamers disconnect, but there are hundreds and thousands of games where they aren’t streaming or you aren’t watching them where they’re keeping their numbers in the safe range.

@Peanits Why do you guys let them insult others though/talk down to opponents? You guys have Fog Whisperers calling killers dumbasses and insulting for not playing how they want or picking on them if they're new saying how bad they are.
You're in streams all the time peanits couldn't you keep tabs on toxic behaviour and report it?

We all know the only reason they're still even touching this game is simply because it pays the bill, they don't enjoy the game anymore because there is nothing fun about it anymore.
ZubatLeL (Not naming and shaming so chill out) had to take a break and play Apex because he found it hard to even play DBD.
Hell man, you can't even say anything about someone or else you either get jailed or banned.
@Bbbrian2013 That is something that also pisses me off about those guys, they sit there and make these little passive-aggressive comments and then sit there and insult the killer is they even slightly manage to kill them. But they can't even do anything to them simply because they are bringing in the money flow, that's how business works.
@Kilmeran Wait, you mean to tell me that he came onto this very forum and did that? Why is it that someone who is supposed to hold some type of model status can't even act like an adult on the forums? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

In terms of in-game bans, we cannot enforce what happens outside of the game. However, any streamers that are affiliated with us have guidelines to follow and will be warned if they stray outside of them. If the behaviour keeps up we would sever ties with them.

This is going to blow up again and a certain streamer is going to play martyr again and say he or she is being picked on/singled out and have their male friends rally around to protect him or her.

@Justified, Something else: You mentioned that certain Fog Whisperers will have their communities attack people on Twitch and on Steam. If the Streamer is clearly and blatantly taking such action, file a complaint with Twitch. They will be investigated and potentially shutdown. Twitch allows people on the platform as of the age of 13, meaning there are underaged veiwers and players in Twitch. They have to take action, or risk potential lawsuits.
As an example, a Streamer is not allowed to drink alcohol on the Stream. I've encountered a couple that have done so repeatedly and openly. I filed complaints with Twitch, and in both instances the channels were shutdown.
Being a Twitch Streamer is a business. As a real-world business owner, I am bound by State and Federal regulations. If I go into a partnership on a project with another company, I am bound by those guidelines. Fail to adhere, and there are repercussions, in some cases the loss of your business. The same applies to Twitch Streaming.
So, if they are actually having their communities take such actions on their behalf, go to Twitch about it. That is a huge no-no. Behavior should be concerned as well, since it is happening based on play-time in their game, they've officially sponsored said Streamer, and the player being targeted could be under 18 since Steam is also a minimum age of 13.

So you mean to tell me, that this entire time, these Fog Whisperers hold Drinking streams and drink on stream, when it is against TOS on Twitch?
I think this fuels my hate for twitch and the people under it even more. If Twitch is supposed to be your "JOB" then why the hell are you drinking while doing your "JOB" because it doesn't make sense to sit there and have a "JOB" and drink alcohol, thus resulting in you saying things and end up having your channel shut down, thus losing your "JOB"

@Detective_Jonathan, my 25-year-old son is a part-time streamer just for fun (his real job is store management at Best Buy), and yes: drinking alcohol on the stream is a violation of the Twitch ToS and can result in your channel being terminated. So is using your channel to attack other streamers or viewers.
And due to the minimum required age of 13 to have a Twitch account, I've found that at least in the case of alcohol, if they do catch it while you're Live, or you're dumb enough to post the VoD, they sometimes will terminate your channel.
Just for clarification, my son has never been sanctioned or shutdown. He abides by the ToS, as do a majority of Streamers. But thanks to him, I've read the Twitch Streamer ToS and other documents repeatedly, since I'm considering starting a Stream for my fans (I'm an author by day).

@Kilmeran That must not be actively enforced then. I see streamers drinking live all the time. Even big streamers with Twitch staff watching.
One of the big DbD streamers is known for his weekly crazy drunk streams.

@Bbbrian2013 A lot usually isn't unless they get complaints. Also, yeah, if they're big like Shroud or Disrespect, expect "special rules" to apply. They make Twitch too much money. Such is the world.

Also a side note, as much as i hate some streamers, sometimes it's not their fault that their communites raid profiles, they don't have much control over that, they can say to not do it but there's always gonna be some toxic fans who do it anyway.
But for the ones that encourages it and keep trash talking others players (And in a mean way, not a joking way), ######### them.

I see people stating things like "they ruined the fun of others" but what about their own fun? did you consider WHY that person dc'd? I bet if the broken aspects of this game were fixed (instasaw, omega blink, etc.) there'd be a lot fewer dc's. idk a single person who puts someone else's fun over their own, so I'm not sure why you people would expect them to

So reporting will do nothing because they'll delete the VOD, unless you take a clip of them sipping Alcohol in that very moment and report it.

On the drinking issue. It’s not a violation to drink on stream unless you are drinking on stream for incentives or you are over the top. Twitch specifically says “illegal or dangerous consumption of alcohol”

I Couldn't agree more, If anything fog whisperes should be put on stricter limitations than the rest of the community not get away with it Just because they play more games.
These people who Promote and actively Derank / DC show to the thousands of viewers watching that It's okay to play like that, and it's not. Just look at the state the game is in right now in terms of DCs and there's still people supported by BHVR that push DCing.
How can someone say they DC and derank but still remain part of the fog whisperers? It's ridiculous.

@Bongbingbing, Which is the precise point some of us kept bringing up in Fall 2018 when the program was announced and the initial names revealed. That certain among them DC'ed and deranked, and openly defended it. The main offender then turned out to be a Mod in Cote's stream. Go figure.
Of course, we all got ignored. Even when we tagged CMs about the issue. Then the offenders and their posse rode into the forums, several making their first posts ever, to defend the practice all in the name of keeping their streams entertaining.
But hey, enjoy the DC and Deranking epidemic that continues to get worse in this game. After all, the marketers that Behavior chose to align themselves with promoted it in the first place.

@Jonathanskilz, Yeah, well, no sooner than I say that I haven't bought them yet, I go and take a short nap, just wake up, and find that one my kids (they're 25, 20, 18 and 9) just gifted it to me because of the current sale. So . . . yeah, I kind'a own Legion now. But in my defense, I still didn't buy him.

I made a post one time talking about the topic, And most of them came at me and witch-hunted, harassed me for it. Some of them even made up stories saying i harassed them to begin with. Even when some of them did things wrong in the game, i called them out on it in the forums and it got locked because they said that i made the effort to instigate more action from them.
These guys have made my gaming experience miserable. Saying i am a bad person and that i am not an all around good person to be around. When they don't even know me, i know more about them, just by lurking and watching their stream, to know that these guys are not good people.
They can't even come and talk to you like an adult and reason with you, instead they have to act like baboons and resort to taking things personally and post it on twitter, one of them is even on the forums to begin with.
But is that going to stop me from calling these people out? No, From now on though i am just going to clip it, and then i am going to go out of my way to make sure something is done about these people, every single one of them.

@Detective_Jonathan, Yeah, several of the Fog Whisperers are toxic, entitled children that Behavior only reinforces by rewarding them. I've been online gaming for 20 years, since the dawn of EQ1. I've not been around the block, I've traveled the metaphorical country. I've been a player in countless communities over the decades, and been a moderator in others, and have even worked in the industry for a brief time (it wasn't for me). I've seen things from both sides of the fence, as well as on the fence.
And there are a handful of games where I can say the Studio, itself, actively had a hand in building an unpleasant toxic atmosphere via a series of questionable decisions.
Behavior and Dead by Daylight are unfortunately near the top of that list.
Their Steam number have dropped. The recent two DLCs did not boost it back. The current free-weekend, watching the active player count in the community hub page at Steam (since SteamCharts isn't updating currently), showed a 26k peak for today so far. Hardly the bump you'd see for a free-weekend. I'm waiting to see what tonight looks like, and then Saturday and Sunday, since DbD usually peaks between 10am and 1pm (east coast time). But so far, it looks like the game is in an unhealthy state across the board.
And there is no one to blame except Behavior. Specifically, the leadership. I'm of the belief that DbD needs a new Game Director at this stage. I mean no disrespect to Mr. Cote, and it's nothing personal, but from a customer perspective, things aren't working out like they used to. Given the player base shrinkage, I'd say I'm not the only one.

Fun isnt something one considers when streaming for money, But Dc'ing against killers and saying "Oops my finger slipped" does put a smile on my face.
