Feedback for BHVR

Greetings everyone! Today I'd like for us all to reflect on changes past. In order to achieve this goal I went ahead and marked up a Steam Charts screenshot as accurately as I could. (NOTE: The Darkness within Chapter mark is likely a little off so take that one mark with a grain of salt.)

(To access an unmarked or updated version of this chart simply visit https://steamcharts.com/app/381210#3m .)

Now that we all have the visuals I'd like to draw everyone's attention to the numbers at the very bottom. More specifically I'd like everyone to examine the Avg. Players numbers , Gain numbers, and % Gain numbers. In case the point I'm making isn't obvious these numbers are all decreasing. So naturally I want to ask everyone why they think Dead by Daylight's player numbers are dropping.

Also as a bit of a tip for anyone who feels like complaining about "the devs" , not everyone who works at the Dead by Daylight branch of BHVR is a developer. The Dead by Daylight team has a Game Director, a few Community Managers, a Quality Assurance Team, Game Designers, Visual Designers, some other employees that I can't recall at this moment, and the Developers. What I'm trying to say is, if you feel that some employees at BHVR deserve criticism, at least refer to the right people. (Also please stop suggesting that the team converts all of their Visual Designers into Developers, it just wouldn't end well.)

With all of that being said, I hope we can all be civil and polite in trying to understand why players are leaving Dead by Daylight.

Actually this is normal for the numbers to increase and decrease. The last increase was around when everyone was off for the holidays. There were also events around that time and the player base would increase. Now there are no events and are no holidays to attract those players. Also these decreases are relatively small compared to a large decrease. Overall dbd will probably increase in players once the summer hits. The game is no where near dead or dying in fact this is normal to see a increase and then decrease.

Looking at all of the data here, I personally just want to now what happened on December 31st. This is the day where the fairly consistent values after the Darkness Among Us chapter just dropped.

Do you really need an answer for that? I think there are plenty of forum threads that point out the main issues... ^^

@PiiFree I understand very well that a lot of people are thoroughly upset by Mettle of Man. However, I just wanted to see if there was anything else causing grief in the community.

What happened at that december period is when the huge streamo circlejerk started about Legion, the whole "If Legion i DC xd"

@Peasant Mettle of Man is just one of the issues.

    • broken matchmaking
    • broken ranking system
    • bugs, glitches
    • low quality content
    • poorly designed perks
    • weak killers
    • broken lobbies
    • infinite loading screen / disconnects during loading screen
    • disconnects during matches (unintended)
    • disconnects during matches (intended)
    • Legion
    • SWF

I think this covers most of the issues.

Exactly and because we have another free weekend coming up. We will expect the player base to increase.

To be honest the release of the Evil Dead DLC seems to sum up quite a bit of the reason. At least for me.

Other players may have other issues with the game and BHVR. Mine is way this DLC is handled.

I can deal with bugs.. I've enjoyed the game for several years now.. bought all the DLC with monies and a couple Cell packs for cosmetics. Not a huge deal, I def got my entertainment out of the game and I'm thankful to BHVR for providing that to me. Thanks.

But... One thing that really rubs me the wrong way is basically how BHVR is treating this Evil Dead DLC.

The DLC gets released. People purchase it and begin playing it, then realize there is a bug with MOM. One of the lead developers confirms it is bugged.

Now we come to today, with no fix for that bug but the product is still on the store page being sold. BHVR is taking peoples money but not fixing what people have paid for on the store originally.

We get told they are taking feedback. Feedback for what? The perk itself. Ok. However, I still purchased your product, so when is that product going to be fixed. FIRST. I don't care about adjustments or changes that need to be made, I want the original product I agreed to purchase, fixed. Simple.

BHVR takes several weeks to make modifications to perks and mechanics cause they want to see how people handle them and take stats on that feedback. So they are already looking at changing MOM? However MOM hasn't actually worked correct to what was purchased.

As a PLAYER I can take allot... I can handle the bugs in this game.. as I still enjoy it. I understand "#########" happens and bugs appear that didn't in testing. For example.. The Plague... You hit a survivor down with corrupt purge while they cleansing and you couldn't pick up the survivor. Ok... that crap happens.

As a CUSTOMER I can't take being offered a product, not have it work correctly on release, then being told they are taking "feedback" BEFORE they are fixing the original product.

As a CUSTOMER, I don't think I can accept that from BHVR. To me I feel they are being dishonest to me as a customer by offering me a product they are not fixing and instead are changing right from the get go. So the product being sold on the store now, IS NOT, the product people are actually purchasing.

THIS TO ME IS DISHONEST AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE DEVELOPER BHVR.

I will really be questioning any further purchases from BHVR in the future. This is definitely something that has come out of this DLC.

@TheBean, What's even worse is that they never tested the Ash perks for bugs on the PTB before release. It was just the console perk leak, PAX, release.

Had they properly tested the DLC before taking people's money for it, we might not be where we are now.

I left DbD shortly after Spirit released because I grew sick of how things were handled here, from issues within the game that weren't being addressed or fixed, to them being in-bed with certain Streamers who were to become (and did) Fog Whisperers. I came back a week ago, and still haven't purchased the Legion, Plague, or Ash DLCs. I was testing the waters.

I'm very strongly leaning toward being another -1 on the SteamCharts player count again. I see that absolutely nothing has changed. If anything, it's gotten a hell of a lot worse.
