Mettle of Man is poorly designed, hurts weak killers but doesnt affect strong ones.
Right now MoM affects killers like wraith, freddy, pig the most which are accepted as the weakest. Huntress, billy, Nurse, and plague are largely unaffected by this which are accepted as some of the strongest, shows poor perk design. I feel it would be better for it to counter exposed, ie 2 times perk game if a hit would put you in the dying state from ahealthy one instead only get injured. I feel this would be better to give survivors a counter to the toxic NOED, Irridesent heads, MYC nurses, and increasing strength against Billy and myers for instance. Right now it just makes survs able to dunk on weak killers (Freddy is bad enough as is).
I Feel like a rework could be useful to give survs a counter to some of these things while not making them OP against weak killers or killers who dont use toxic perks.

Currently it also doesn’t affect legion. Legion hard counters the perk, because frenzy doesn’t stack mom
with the pig, the dash attack counts but it’s not like pigs usually go out of their way to use their ambush.
From what I am told on the forums, and I haven’t actually gone against a wraith or spirit to confirm this with mom, their surprise attacks don’t stack mom which is (according to them) a glitch.
if surprise attacks power m1s are intended to not stack the perk, then Hag is glitched and really the only killer who cannot deal with it is trapper. But I am operating under the assumption surprise attacks are supposed to stack mom, since they are still basic attacks... so the perk is pretty busted as a free health state.

Speaking of Trapper, I realised something. If the Survivor has MoM active, runs into a trap and gets hit by the Trapper, does that get rid of the endurance effect? Extremely situational, but it would be hilarious.

oh that’s a thought.
likenif they have 3 stacks, you hit them while they are in the trap? I wonder if that hit is actually ignored. I don’t think a survivor in a trapper trap counts as downed

thats my main problem with it.
its cheap (you get a free hit for doing nothing but screwing up 3 times) and its a huge middlefinger to all the weaker killers.
whats the most logical response to this?
ppl will play Billy more often.
--> we will see an increase of "NeRf HiLlBiLlY" threats.

Yep. And more Leatherface and Myers because of their insta down.
Maybe I will ignore my obsession after 3 hits unless I have a Perk for it. So it's time for Save The Best For Last again :)

Works at full strength regardless of if the survivor is the obsession.
the fact the obsession is on the perk is completely arbitrary

That's another story. Maybe the Devs thought the obsession would be generally focused by the killer, but this is not the case anymore. At least that's what I have seen so far, if the killer does not run an obsession perk.
So there is no real danger to use MoM because of the new mechanics.

I've posted an idea for balancing this perk. Check it out, tell me what you think.

Plague counters it in a way since if you are fully sick she just one hits witch means by the time you get 3 stacks you're dead unless you wiggled off of her shoulder.

Legion too, at the moment.

I think this is a step in the right direction but still is kinda a pigeonhole fix. Right now survs dont really have much of a response to things like Make your choice proxy camping nurses, Irrihead huntress, NOED (except breaking totems which in a close game can be enough time wasted to ensure death). And nothing for Instasaw Billy. However this is why I proposed making it turn exposed hits into regular ones (and thus furthering the theme of being tough and surviving Ash cut his own hand off and was fine after all). will still be a Good perk, but wont dunk on bad killers like how it is now. (with the exception of spirit who is good and affected by it. but a prayer beads rework is a discussion for another thread).

I agree with your idea about resisting one-hit downs.
Like you said the huge issue with this perk is that it nerfs killers who already struggle to get chases finished quickly and literally doesn't affect those that are already in a strong position.
If we instead changed it to affect one-shots, it would instead become a counter to abilities that killers can bring that make chases way shorter or take less skill. It becomes like the good counter perks, ie DS is brought to counter tunnelling, MoM would be brought to counter one shots. On that though it would need to include powers and add-ons that one shot, not just "exposed," covering Noed (which most survivors hate), Hillbilly's chainsaws, Iridescent Heads on Huntress and perks like Make Your Choice which are common on Nurse. Sure, these can affect M1 killers too, but unlike current MoM it's not guaranteed to ######### them every game.
My ideal would be:
"Each time you are hooked, Mettle of Man gains a charge. Any time an attack or power would take you from the healthy state to the downed state, one charge is consumed and you become injured instead.
After using a charge of Mettle of Man, returning to the healthy state reveals your aura to the killer outside of 16/14/12 meters until you are downed again."
That would prevent it killing killer's momentum early, while allowing for 2 attack "blocks" which could prevent being one-hit downed, while not completely ignoring the attack.

Thats what I mean, and I think this is a good design. albeit start with 1 token so if you start against an irri head its not worthless

Good idea :)

I believe it was acknowledged that Nurse blink hits not counting towards MoM is a bug.
