Stop complaining about Ruin getting broken quickly
I see a lot of killers complain about Ruin getting destroyed so fast and blah blah blah. Just sit down and listen what its like from the survivor prospective.
Dwight awakes in a corn field and instantly he is filled with a deep sorrow and bad memories but as he turns to examine his surroundings he sees a beautiful women from the Orient. They begin to slowly approach the closest Generator and repeat again what they have now done a thousand times before. They begin to work on it together and as Dwight is loops some wire their hands meet.
“When are you getting me out of here” Feng Min. “Baby I told you no now we can discuss this at camp, I just need a little space” Dwight muttered behind the slow clunks of the generator pistons.
“I did give you space” she snapped. “Is that a Shroud of Union I see in your pocket” Dwight smirks as he gestures to her pocket. “I was actually hoping to get…AHHHHHH” as she hit her skill check the sparks of ruin burnt her hands, “I need a med kit. All I have is this tool box.”
-A Bill screams in the distance.
Moving Feng and carrying her safely behind a rock he opened up the chest close to them to find an Old Camping med kit. Returning to her he wraps her hands and holds her for a moment before he says “I have to go get that totem.” A look of strong dedication fills his eyes.
“Dwight you can’t, it is too dangerous. I think I heard a Chainsaw it’s worse, I think I saw a Nea” said Feng as tears began to form in her eyes.
“If we are going to get out I have to do this, sweetie” He gently grasps her hands and checks the wrappings. “When the totem breaks rush the gens and I will find you.”
“Dwight, NO!” It was too late, as she reached out to stop him he was gone, for 3 seconds at 150% movement speed.
Dwight wondered around aimlessly with no luck until he found a legendary P3 Claudette on a hook. “Help me young one and I shall grant you one wish” said the Claudette. “I am looking for the totem so we can all get out of here”.
“You will find the totem in the place that is intended for Killers, but is a safe haven for all survivors who are in need” she says for boding voice. “Killer shack, got it.”
Dwight pulls her down and as soon as her feet touch the knee high grass she disappeared without a trace.
It took a while for Dwight to find that totem after this; he had a few close calls with Leatherface but thankfully there was a locker nearby. In it Dwight found a key and a bit of his shirt tied to it covered in his blood and it brought back memories of what happened last time her was here. Key in hand he smashed the totem and then ran back to where he last saw her. The gen was complete and some tracks lead away one of the windows. Dwight contemplated where she would have gone he walked to the next gen but there was just a Bill working on the last gen bleeding everywhere.
“Can an Old Soldier trouble you for a patch job” he said coughing blood. “Don’t you run Adrenaline like the rest of us? I need to find Feng.” Dwight’s works truly expressed both urgency and fear in the situation. “The fat one got her, last I saw he took her to the basement..” with that said Dwight was gone, off to save the women he loves. Walking into the main house it was quiet and the killer was nowhere in sight. “Now is the time” he though as he burst down into the basement to see Feng hiding there while the Entity slowly.
“FENG!” He screamed almost in tears as he went to grasp her on the armpits and began to life her to freedom. “Dwig…ht” she exhaled slightly and raised her head “Ru..n”.
With a smack on the back of the head Dwight was hit in the back by a chainsaw and loosing blood fast. As his vision blurred and his fingers went numb he watched Feng be pulled into the Entity.
-At the Camp fire
Feng Min: I told you not to go.
Dwight: I said I needed some space.
Feng Min: You have Prove thy self.
My point is if you bring Ruin we have to cleanse it. So you make 4 survivors hunt ruin. What do people expect to happen? Survivors to sit there and just do gens slowly the entire game?
Stop raging about this and take other perks

Totem spawns should be improved though, it's supposed to be something that is hard to find and not something that just greets you right next to a generator. Though, TOTH can work well if you really want it to stay up.
But 4 survivors looking for ruin? That's such a timewaste, if I see other teammates are looking for it I usually just continue on working on generators.

The ONLY time it's annoying when Ruin gets broken quickly, is when it's broken before I'm able to even cross the map to get to it. This means that it spawned right next to a survivor. That's the only reason anyone complains. As long as it's not found immediately, I couldn't care less.

Good reasoning actually for Ruin.
The oversight though is that other Hex Perks work in the exact same way, some won't even be able to do a thing and no one could know about them, yet they get cleansed by this 1 person who just happened to spawn on it, see it next to a Generator, spot it from 100 meters away because it's in an open field or just happens to stumble upon it cause it's not well hidden.
I know this is about Ruin, but when you say that it's okay for it to be cleansed early, you say that about every Hex Perk.

Tbh I dont have a say about how fast it gets done. It's a high risk high reward. I once played and we didn't find it for 5 gens. In a killer game of mine I killed them all while they were looking for it and no gens were done. Once they know where it is and if it is still up they normally go right back if you loose them in chase so I don't mind it.
@Incirion makes a good point that some times you spawn and b-line for it and its gone. I am the survivor that does this a lot because I play this too much and know where totems spawn. It's half skill half luck. This is the issue with RNG games

I love the story, amazing.
But I agree, it's why I don't run Ruin anymore.

Currently as it is, i view it more as ultimate risk, high reward, because of those spawns.
And they aren't common, but they're uncommon enough to be annoying regardless.
Go back a year or 2 and i wouldn't complain about it, as it's a huge issue for multiple Perks, so i'd have faith it'd be fixed. (The ridiculous spawns.)
But we're here now and all we hear is that they're on it.

i thought they did a recent totem respawn to make it harder?
1 -
It's the bad totem spawns.
Killers dont complain normally about survivors destroying it, but about the extremely bad totem spawn.
3 -
They did.. They are much trickier to find now..
Sometimes the survivors don't find it all game, sometimes they find it straight away.. RNG At its finest.

Ruin is a joke you play on noob survivors, work through it while killer chases down the others sprinting around to find it. Honestly can't recommended using any hex perks as the reliability is horrible and that's without/before the notifications.

I still spawn by totems.... I literally had one right behind me!

Why hunt for it? I just assume everyone else is looking for it and work Gens and if it doesn't get cleansed, at least work is being done. I usually only cleanse it if I see it on my way to Gens or I am looking for it because I know everyone else is working Gens.

News Flash Nooblet:
I play both killer AND survivor. So I know the Survivor perspective and ya know what it is?
"I'm OP as hell and only get caught if i screw up."
Survivor's have the ENTIRE MAP as their weapon.
Killer's only have their power. So perks are the edge they REQUIRE, not just want, to have a remote chance of downing a survivor. That's not including Flashlight Jesus players who hide around corners waiting for the pickup.
But on the flipside, this advantage of perks can be completely stonewalled depending on the survivor team's perk makeup. Putting the killer back to square one with just their power.
I didn't read your post because I already knew it was an overblown excuse as to why the already underpowered Ruin is OP(which it's not).
Ruin may have gotten a buff with the most recent patch but that buff is pointless when the hex totem is sitting in plain sight and the sound effect it gives off it a clear indicator of its position if a fire source isn't nearby.

Dude, your are thick. Read the post but I will summarise it for you. It's a meme on people who complain that it gets broken at the start of a game. The joke is that survivors need it to be broken, so they break it.
You should really check your facts before you blow up @deathsia because honestly you look like a fool if you don't and then say you don't. Ruin isn't OP. But it is annoying, so we break it ASAP. I too play Survivor AND Killer, I main Myres thanks for asking.

I played 13 games today and ruin never lasted more than 30 seconds which means all those survivors were searching for a whooping 16 seconds. Totally worth a perk slot - not.
In ALL OF THOSE GAMES the survivors spawned near my totem and I spawned on the other side of the map. That's just plain bs.
Ironically I played my last game without ruin as Hillbilly and suddenly all those survivors managed to finish only one single generator. Makes me think ruin is more than just useless. It's literally a waste of time as you have to check on it since most of the time someone spawns next to it.

You'll have to pardon my rudeness then but I've seen tons of threads complaining about this so my impulse was to not bother reading and rip into (what I thought was) yet another noob who thought ruin was OP because they are bad at the game.

I liked the story, and I don't care if ruin gets destroyed fast, I just hate it when it gets destroyed like 30 seconds into the match, because I feel like I didn't even have time to reach it.

Indeed.
The killer bet one of his perk slots on Hex: Ruin. Survivors have then the choice of suffering the effects or invest some of their time searching for it. If the survivors spawn right next to it and/or the totem is just out in the open without any cover, the Killer is just trhowing a perk slot away.
But at least Ruin is active from the get go. At worst it might still buy you a few seconds of extra generator time. Hexes like Huntress Lullaby, Devour Hope or Third Seal, don't really do anything until some conditions are met. And theses are lit up from the start just like Ruin. But since they don't affect generators repair speed, survivors are less likely to actively go look for them from the start. If theses totems spawn in the open and/or right next to the survivor, it really feels like a middle finger to the killer.

Allgoods my dude! Have a lovely day ;D

Someone smart, 4 looking for ruin is a beginner play, it gives the killer way too much time.

The time lost to ruin is minimal. You don't need to look for it and are playing into the killers hands if you do.

People use Ruin because on the less viable killers which is basically Not Billy or Nurse, unless the survivors are potatoes map pressure is difficult without Ruin the game is over in 5 minutes or less with maybe 1 hook per person.
Forest and Farm maps have massive areas to cover and very strong loops.
Ruin allows the less viable killers slightly more breathing room to apply some pressure before gens start popping.
Right now totem spawns are a joke, hell i actually prefer Than over Ruin because i have to to something to make it work and it can't be removed by totems.
But the % isn't high enough and gets worse as the game goes on so not worth it.
