Examples of Wayward Thinking

When DBD was released, there was a "true to the culture" type feel for it. It incorporated a lot of classic horror movie elements and memes. Meathooks, the chase, chase music etc.

Early on, it seemed as if this was going to be the core path of the game as it evolved.

What happened?

When, in a horror movie, do victims NEVER get tired, and the killer speeds up the longer the chase goes on? Wouldn't it have made much more sense that the survivor get's tired, and slows down instead?

The hook is another example. I really thought you guys would have added more variation of this mechanic. The meat hook was used in 2 or 3 "known" horror movies yet it's the only way to begin the sacrifice. Finding variety for the same "hooking" mechanic and implementing them has got to be easier than adding new character's and perks. It would help break up the monotony immensely. It would also be cool if the killer could select his "hook" models before the match for the cosmetic aspects. How about a "hellraiser" type sacrifice with hooked chains? Again, the mechanics can stay exactly the same, it's just a cosmetic thing. How about a torture table they get strapped to, or locked in a cage...the options are endless....

(the Doc's should be a chair the survivor get's strapped to in front of a TV, with one of the DEV streams playing..rofl)

Why does the killer hear the chase music? Again it's just something that doesn't make any sense! Things should get muted or very focused when in a chase which is what stamps out other sounds. Not a freaking symphony! lol c'mon....When a movie goes first person on killer, how often is there music blasting. That's a survivor thing....Killer view is "deadly" quiet....Again, you do not change the mechanic of the game at all. You simply reduce all sounds for the killer to the same level you're trying to achieve with the music..only one is ######### to do, and the other falls in line with the whole "horror" theme.

BHVR....how long has it been sinse the decision makers and developers watched a good b rated horror flick?

Go, sign up, get inspired, stop messing up the game. k tks.

I do agree with essentially all your points. However I don't think insulting the devs is the way to gain good attention. Otherwise, everything you stated here is agreeable. To me at least.

However I don't think they are ever going to make survivors move slower when they run for a extended period of time.

Meh, I call it as I see it. I don't work, don't want to work, and never will work for BHVR so the fact that I'm being constructively critical at all after changes I feel ruined one of my favorite games, that I spent my hard earned money on, should be appreciated. At least a disgruntled customer level. At least I kept it lighthearted.

Nice post. Just a few days ago I was wondering; "Why do Killers hear the chase music?". It's nothing but distracting in a situation where they're supposed to be totally focused and commited to the chase.

I also really like those hook alternatives although we have to be careful to not give away too much information with the map design. The pig boxes are bad example for that. A Killer that's supposed to be played stealthy but in the first few seconds even the last Survivor should've seen a box somewhere - that just ruins the whole element of surprise because people will pay more attention to their surroundings.

They could add alternative hook models / sacrifice mechanics or even new mori animations as rank / achievement rewards for example, to make the overall experience more exciting.
