Legion Update: My Thoughts

Hey, everyone! Chaotic_Riddle here. Thanks to @Shad03 , another fellow Legion main who posted his thought's on the update, which inspired me to post my own thoughts on it, and @Detective_Jonathan for asking my opinion on the matter. I want to clarify that everything I say will be entirely based off of MY opinion, so if there's something you don't agree with, feel free to discuss it.

THE LEGION

  • The Legion’s base movement speed is increased to 4.6m/s.
  • The Legion’s Terror Radius is increased to 32m.

Both of these changes are great. I always felt that one of Legion's drawbacks was their inability to keep up like most Killers. (I also thought it was silly that an obese and drunken clown in their presumable 50's was faster than a group of adolescents in their prime.) The terror radius change isn't that much of a problem for me either, as it could combine well with Monitor And Abuse and/or Distressing.

  • Most of The Legion’s add-ons are rebalanced or reworked to account for the changes to Feral Frenzy and the Deep Wound status effect.

I'm happy to see some of Legion's items get tweaked up and fixed. Some were great! Frank's Mixtape and Cold Dirt were truly a fierce combo. I'm extremely curious, however, as to what some of these reworks could be. I truly hope the pins are changed, as their abilities weren't exactly all that superior compared to other items.

  • The Iridescent button addon no longer requires The Legion to apply Deep Wound for the effects to be active.
  • The recharge time of Feral Frenzy is increased and now requires a full power gauge to use it. Once it has been activated, the Legion must wait until the power gauge is full to be able to trigger the power again.
  • The duration of Feral Frenzy is increased. The Legion spends longer in frenzy.
  • The movement speed of Feral Frenzy is significantly reduced. The Legion moves faster than base speed while in frenzy, but not as fast as they did before.
  • The Legion can no longer see blood pools (in addition to not seeing scratch marks) while in Feral Frenzy.
  • Feral Frenzy is immediately and automatically cancelled whenever The Legion misses an attack while in frenzy.

Now, balance-wise, all of these are fair. The increase time in Legion's Frenzy was really needed, especially since it never really lasted truly long in the past. And with the new process of needing to hit your target while in frenzy, rather than cheese it by swinging till your timer ran out, is really as balanced as it could get for Legion.

  • The Deep Wound timer pauses for survivors within The Killer's Terror Radius–regardless of whether they are in a chase or not.
  • The Deep Wound timer pauses while Mending
  • The Killer does not see the Deep Wound timer progress–only the Deep Wound bar to know that Deep Wound has been applied.
  • The Deep Wound timer progress is no longer reduced by regular Feral Frenzy attacks.

Here is when things start to get a bit troubling: Legion may not be as fearsome as he used to be when it came to chases in Feral. While it's nice to see that Mending isn't too much of a task for Survivors to deal with, the lack of being able to track their blood may be an issue if they're not needed to mend in your terror radius. This will make perks like Whispers and Stridor come into great play for Legion. Balanced? In my full honest thoughts, it's not really that bad. I would like there to be add-ons in the future that could toy with these new mechanics, such as decreasing Legion's terror radius, such as some of Michael's add-ons do, to make better use of Deep Wound's ability. Besides that, I don't see much of an issue with it.

In the end, as long as Survivors aren't DCing and I'm able to enjoy a Killer that I truly love, for their outstanding design, lore, and mechanics, then I'm happy. Thank you for the changes @not_Queen , @Patricia , @Peanits , and everyone else on the dev team. I hope that y'all can continue to work hard on making Legion as fun as possible for both sides to play with and against, and to keep giving the community more content such as this to play around with.

I hope to see everyone out in the fog...

Soon™.

My only problem is missing one attack depleting the power completely.

@not_Queen Answer me specifically or everyone in the community? Do I need a suit and tie? 🤣

Jokes aside, I can’t wait to see what you guys will have in store for all of us. :)

Well said, I like that you broke things down into section and how you felt about it. Most of the things you said, I couldn’t agree more. I also would love for them to have add ons to effect their terror radius. It would be cool to play around with. I was hoping the devs went in the direction of how the legion is portrayed in the trailer. I recently played a match where I walked into Legion thinking that he was a survivor lol.

And I guess the problem with small terror radius would encourage going back to cheesing the chase. However that shouldn’t be a problem any more if you wouldn’t be able to see blood any more.

    @Patricia

Is it possible to also have a Q&A thread on the forum started at some point before that particular livestream, for those who will not be able to attend it?

@Iceman Yeah, getting rid of the blood trail is probably the best move, though it’s odd since you can’t cheese chases anymore with the new current state of the terror radius, but I’m sure there’s plenty of strategies to come out of this update for Legion in the future.

@knell I completely understand that some people will not be able to attend the stream, I will give your feedback to the team and see what we can do for the Q&A on the forums.

    Thank you!

@Patricia Sweet, I will be looking forward to it.

Even though I am not knell I felt like answering.

As for @Chaotic_Riddle, nice job giving your thoughts. I enjoyed reading them. LoL Clan forever!

Man this post is really disgusting. You should not be patting the devs on the back for basically taking a huge dump on the killer. This is just sending a message that if survivors want a killer nerfed to the ground they just need to dc every game.

@ApeOfMazor We all have our own opinions on things. I think the change is great in some aspects, but I also stated that I felt that some newer changes could make some of the mechanics a bit weird. If you don't like it, that's fine, we're all entitled to our own thoughts, I just wanted to share mine. :)

What time will the Q&A start? I want to be present for it.

With the new changes on making Feral Frenzy unable to down survivors, all legions would require M1 to down any survivors. Power will only be used for closing in on chase, meaning now Legion is loopable

If a survivor is in pellets and or buildings, if you use your power you can only use it to vault, but the survivor can just vault back, since you gets stunned after you vault/ attack. And your attack doesn't matter anyway since it doesn't down survivors anymore in Feral

For stalling? Now with significantly reduced speed, it will be much harder, not to mention on missed attack it depletes power and requiring full charge to activate

Not being able to see blood plus all of that is too much.

They fixed moonwalking that's good, but I don't see a reason to remove the power. he was already weak without the moonwalk exploit

My biggest problem is that you have to land the frenzy, making it jukable.

What's the point of the Deep Wound status effect when it's borderline useless with the upcoming Legion update?

Oh, Legion came and stabbed me and ran off after someone else. I better continue working on this here generator because Deep Wound won't be ticking down while Legion's in the area.

Peanits did say that a missed hit does not deplete your bad but does stun you, someone suggested that his hit in Frenzy is like the Doctor's T3 madness and blocks you from healing others or working on gens. I don't mind too much with the changes but I believe his speed in Frenzy is now 125%., 10% more than regular speed.

Thank you so much for doing this! I (and I'm sure many others) really appreciate it!

I really wish the devs would focus on fixing the actual problems in the game, rather than destroying the only fun killer... He isn't that hard to face, not that hard to play, and this update will be a huge nerf to everything that makes him stand out from other killers. Maybe energy would be better spent reworking Plague, or fixing the fact that in 60% of the games I go into someone doesn't load into the match.
