Camping Galore?

Whats up with all the camping lately? I get a camper almost every game nowdays. Around rank 4-7 if that matters.

It has always been that way.

The best way is to not feed it, do gens and get out.

The problem with the above is most survivors don't and end up rewarding it so why wouldnt they keep doing it?

The devs have tried to change it by removing emblem points for it, they underestimated just how much some players don't care about ranking up and just want kills.

    I “camp” if:

    you flashlight me

    you bring in a key

    you last second switch

    you teabag or BM

    MoM

you kite me around every possible place, exploiting poor hit boxes and making me bloodlust

Maybe you did one of these to a killer who feels the way I do?

And by “camp” I just mean I stay in the area.

I see it a lot too in the purple ranks. The thing is people rank that way, so it's all they know. At low ranks a lot of survivors are headless chickens, but middle-onward they're all super-friendly who rush for saves, meaning no gens and 3 swarming bodies to go for. It's why Kindred is so important and you wish people who are on hook won't give up right away; let us wait for a bit and then save you when it's safe. Please don't Attempt Escape and Struggle as long as you can to buy us more time, even if it means we get gens while you die.

You can be the only death in this match! Let's teach them this is not okay; or did you want all of us to die? =( If it makes you feel better, I'll hang there while you all escape, every time. But don't give up just because you're first hook. We'll do our best to help.

    Also look at the circumstances:

    Are all the gens done?

Is an almost completed gen close to the hook?

    Is it a 3-gen-setup?

Does the killer know that another survivor is already close (scratchmarks for example)?

Does the killer think that another survivor is already close (no survivor was seen with BBQ)?

All these are situations where it makes sense to not leave the area where the person got hooked.

What if all the survivors are hiding in lockers or behind gens? Does that still work? There might not actually be any survivors nearby. BBQ is to discourage camping. If you don't see anyone, leave the hook and go check the gens!

Camping/tunneling has increased possibly due to:

    • Being told not to with how the emblems are set up (reverse psychology is a thing for a reason)
    • Being salty over not getting a pip despite killing everyone or doing a good job
    • Finding it works best with the new emblem system

Also match making could put you with killers you typically wouldn't have faced before, so it may seem to be an increase in camping, but you were just lucky before.

@Coriander Was that a reply to my post? If yes, please don't forget to use @ tags. 😊

Concerning the issue: How should the killer know for sure whether everybody is close by or whether everybody is just hiding? If they don't see any auras, it's totally fine to assume that somebody must be close and search for that person in the area around the hook.

If survivors don't want the killer to camp, they should not hide their aura and give the killer an incentive to leave the hook. It's what I usually do. You can't hide your aura from BBQ and complain that the killer isn't coming for you at the same time.

I only camp if it's the final kill before everyone leaves.

And I only do it because when I got angry after getting camped I got told to "git gud" and get over it because the killer needed a kill.

Well, you can imagine how often I get rolled for doing so... And I simply tell 'em "I've been told by everyone that it's legit. You shpuld have played smarter." Before they inevitably lose their ######### right before I leave to upgrade my Nea for Balanced Landing.

It's your fault if you got blinded, or looped all over. Hit boxes favor us, not survivors. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped in amazement at a hit around a corner.

    Just admit it, you'r8a camper.

I have thousands of hours on the game, mostly as killer, and enjoy it very much. Seems it’s very much for me 👍

Most games, none of my rules ever even come up.

You camp people because they use features the game offers them? I'm not sure what I should say about that, lol.
