Remember Me REBALANCE Suggestion
What is the Issue?
So Remember Me is a very contentious issue with the patch on the PTB.
For those who don't know, Remember Me pre-patch can gain up to 6 tokens, adding 30 seconds to the exit gates.
On the PTB, however, it can now only gain a maximum of 4 stacks, adding 16 seconds to the exit gates.
The mentality behind these changes has been made clear by the devs both in forum discussions and on the dev streams. As they put it there should always be "a chance to win, even if that chance is very slim."( https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/444801/#Comment_444801 ) It has been discussed by many players (largely represented in that thread if you are interested) that they don't believe that this change actually incorporates that belief fairly.
The Reason for the Nerf:
The situation that the devs feel leaves a survivor with too little chance to survive to be fair is as follows:
* The survivors have not completed all generators.
* 3 survivors have been killed.
* The killer has done this essentially using only 3 perks, as Remember Me has no function until the gates are being opened.
* The killer has killed the obsession. This is not ALWAYS a harder task, but in the current meta this usually means they have had to fight through perks which grant extra hits such as MoM.
* The killer has played *reasonably* nicely. That is to say they probably have not tunnelled off the hook, as that would result in less than maximum Remember Me stacks, and once the obsession has died, tunnelling can create a new obsession through DS, negating Remember Me's effect for a different player.
* After all this, the killer has found and closed the hatch, starting the EGC, meaning the last survivor's only option to survive is to open a gate within the EGC timer, through Remember Me's penalty (total 50s to open.)
Now, while this situation is VERY difficult for the last remaining survivor, and leaves them very low survival odds, this is also a rare occurrence. The killer has performed EXCEPTIONALLY to this point.
That said, the devs believe this situation should not occur, and have HALVED the effect of Remember Me to change it. Not ONLY in the situation of a solo player in EGC, but in the 90% of other matches involving RM where there are multiple survivors and there is no time limit on them opening the gate.
This is the greatest injustice of the change. The perk is basically never going to be seen again since it was already situational, now it has lost half of it's effect *only in case* one possible situation makes survival difficult for the last survivor due to the killer performing very well.
My Proposed Solution:
Remember Me:
You become obsessed with one Survivor.
Each time you hit your Obsession, you gain a token, up to a maximum of 3/4/5 tokens.
For each survivor remaining in the trial when the exit gates are powered each token increases the opening time of exit gates by 2 seconds, up to a maximum of 24/32/40 seconds.
The killer can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.
Note: The obsession is no longer exempt from Remember Me's time penalty.
To explain with some numbers:
If 4 survivors are alive when the gates are powered, with maximum Remember Me stacks, 40 seconds are added to the gate opening time.
5 stacks x 4 survivors x 2 seconds.
5x4x2=40 seconds.
This is compared to the 30 second maximum of the current perk, but requires 1 less stack. It is increased, though is more rewarding without needing to tunnel the obsession to death to max out the stacks AND ensure the perk will not be negated by the obsession opening a gate. (This is a generally negative behaviour encouraged by the perk at the moment.)
If a single survivor remains when the exit gates are powered, with maximum stacks of Remember Me, it takes 10 extra seconds to open the gate.
5 stacks x 1 survivor x 2 seconds.
5x1x2= 10 seconds.
How Would This Be Better?
My proposed change is focused entirely around the dev's principle: "Everyone deserves a chance to win."
If 4 players are still alive when the gates are powered, it gives the killer a significant window to gain momentum in their favour. In an unfavourable position the killer "still deserves a chance to win."
If 1 survivor is left stranded, alone, and forced to open a gate with the hatch shut, while on the EGC timer, it will impact their ability to open the gate solo, but will not cripple their ability to do so in a manner which feels hopeless. In an unfavourable position, that survivor "still deserves a chance to win."
Notably, while it would be a buff when 4 survivors are still alive (while still getting the maximum of 5 stacks) in the scenario required to use Remember Me effectively at present (ie, 1 dead survivor) the time penalty would be the same as now, 30, seconds.
It is worth noting, opening the exit gates triggers EGC when there are multiple survivors, so this longer timer never takes place during the EGC.
It would also de-incentivise tunnelling the obsession to death, as their death is no longer a required condition to guarantee the gate slowing effect. (It would not entirely remove this, nor does the more extreme change made by the devs, in all cases you are only rewarded when you hit the obsession specifically.)
TLDR:
Scale the gate opening penalty based on remaining survivors when the gates power.
Maxed out Remember Me with maximum (now 5) stacks would increase gate opening time by 10/20/30/40 seconds if 1/2/3/4 survivors are alive when they are powered.
RM Stacks x Remaining Survivors x 2 = Extra gate opening time.

Remember me shouldn't have only 4 tokens because then you can fully use this perk while tunneling your obsession. When it used to be a perk with 6 stacks you were forced to give your obsession time to heal and because of this tunneling was almost impossible.
Now i won't be suprised if this perk will be used with dying light, which is a perk that highly rewards tunneling (and in my opinion this perk should be reworked).

Quite a fair point. I think their idea behind 4 stacks is that if they heal then you don't need to tunnel them after their second hook to max your stacks, but you're right, it also means as killer you don't NEED them to heal in a match at all to max out the stacks and can tunnel them very quickly and effectively.
You're also right that since you no longer need 6 hits you can tunnel the obsession faster without losing stacks and make more use of Dying Light in combination with it, which is frankly a much more troublesome, oppressive perk.
