Give killers a 5th dedicated Hex perk slot
Title.
Obviously the easy solution is fix genrushing, but that isn't happening anytime soon, so it feels like hex ruin is a must.
If killers had a 5th slot for dedicated hexes, that would fix the feelsbadman of mostly needing Ruin except for a few killers. It would also fix the issue of hex being destroyed in the first 20 seconds of game.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk

Ruin should stay active for 30/45/60 seconds after it's been destroyed.
The amount of times I say "My Ruin has no chance," is staggering because of the "improved" totem spawns.

Wouldn't this just push survivors to search out a hex totem faster? If I know a killer is running some kind of hex.. I find the totem ASAP. Making a 5th slot only for hexes would push more survivors to do just that.
2 -
That would mean we would still have 4 perks to use, instead of running a 3 perk game 20 seconds in.
7 -
I agree hex totems need a rework, but I dont think a dedicated perk slot is the right answer.
8 -
i'm all for this.
says the Hag main that would then run Ruin, Huntress' lullaby, Thrill of the hunt, Devour hope, and haunted grounds.
then change his name to Hex: All of Them

high risk, high reward, I kinda like @CallMeSpidey's idea where the hex lasts for 30/40/60 seconds after broken-I think making them much more difficult to spot like lower to the ground and darker would help too. If killers get a dedicated hex perk slot, what do survivors get in return (because survivor mains will say this is unbalanced).

I can't take credit for this, I read it on Reddit and it stuck with me. I believe it's a great idea.

better with 5-8 slots for both sides

Dont act like genrush is something killer cant handle gitgud

As they are now Hex Perks are too powerful for a "Dedicated slot". They would need to be pretty ######### to constitute the killer having 5 perks.
4 -
Stopped reading at "Hex Perks are too powerful" since you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
3 -
If Hex Perks weren't able to be destroyed. They would be the best perks in the game. THAT is what I mean.
4 perk slots with a dedicated hex perk slot means.
Ruin
Devour
Haunted Ground
Thrill of the Hunt
Any other perk that's powerful.
5 perk slots is asinine. All totems need are better spawn locations.

But the over dozen free perks with VoIP in SWF isn't? Pick you battles wisely here.
3 -
This is just a bad idea in terms of game balance. I'm sorry.
6 -
I'm sick of the "Ruin survivors because of SWF at the expense of Solo players" paradigm.
YOU choose your battles wisely. As a solo player I'm getting sick and tired of the same arguments being used against survivors without a care for how it will affect solo players. Since this game has become so heavily balanced around SWF Solo players have it like hell.

*cough*

Make self heal a standard ability and not a perk.
3 -
this would be great will survivors get a dedicated exhaustion or healing perk slot?
4 -
No
2 -
But can we at least buff the other "Hex:___" perks first?
0 -
Killers hex would still be more powerful than that

op wants base kit on killers funny
1 -
This would be cool, but then everyone would know "which hex is it?" where is the hex?
I would rather be in favor of a buff to Thrill of the Hunt. That would be better.

I'de be ok with this
if survivors had a dedicated exhaustion slot.
3 -
if the killer wants all perks to be hex, well it sounds great until they start popping left and right leaving them with a baseline killer for the rest of a match. An extra slot for a single hex doesn't sound horribly imbalanced and its not always gonna be ruin.

4 Perk slots and 1 Hex slot. Hexes are no longer perks and only one can be equipped one at a time.
Thrill of the Hunt will remain a perk but in its new function, it will allow the killer to take two hexes.
If for the most part killers run ruin in this version, survivors do not have to worry about NOED. But, the possibility of Thrill of the Hint will still make them cautious for a NOED combo.
Is it a fair buff?

Honestly the only thing that I feel would make this problematic is the lack of a neutral exhaustion perk.

Unironically I would take this trade off: as long as self healing was even slower than it is with just Self Care. This could even be a survivor buff if Botany Knowledge reduced that penalty to normal Self Care levels.
That would be assuming its the other side of a dedicated hex slot coin of course.

In all honesty, you'll find that most killers and solo survivors want the same thing: reducing the advantage that SWF has compared to solo players. Any of them who want blanket nerfs before closing that gap (in a way that actually has impact) are being biased.
That said, its a very hard gap to close. Multiple half measures have turned up either pointless, or just as detrimental to solo players unintentionally. Just keep in mind us daywalkers who play both sides tend to play solo survivor much more than swf (if at all.)

The only problem adding more perk slots, and something @Peanits has said a lot is, that we'd have to completely rebalance the game around it. Just imagine a Hag with Ruin, Sloppy, Thanatophobia, STBFL and A Nurses calling. There's under 10% chance for survivors. And she's only 3rd best, Spirit and Nurse would literally dominate.
And if this was added, survivors will need some compensation for example, an exhaustion slot or a second chance perk slot. But again, just imagine DS, MoM, Deliverance, Balanced landing and Adrenaline. Absolutely broken.
So I don't think this can be added without causing major changes needed and it puts us back to the spot we were in 2 years ago.

that is my thought as well.
But i've also thought that they should release a few more common pool perks on each side for a while now.

Agreed

@Poweas You wouldn't run 2 exhaustion perks, for the same reason people don't now.
However an exhaustion slot would allow them to take even more nefarious combos, since they would have all 4 slots available.
But same for killers with a hex slot.

Survivors have 16 perks vs 4.

Hillarious argument

What a bad joke

Its not really hard to close that gap.

Killer is still easy tho u just have to put a lot of pressure on survivors and u will mostly always 4k. And if there was a dedicated slot for hex u could just run ruin bamboozle spirit fury enduring and bbq with billy and GG impossible to beat that if he has good pressure

Killers should be able to place their totem on map or at least be able to pick them up and move them. 9/10 Spawn locations are trash and if one SWF survivor finds it then all 4 know where it is. Aside from that I've had matches where totem is cleansed before I can get to it at the start of match kind of a wasted perk slot its a gamble on if you'll get to use it where it's worth taking.

Idk about a 5th slot but I would have this image appear on the screen of anyone who cant be bothered to hit great skillchecks..

@KaoMinerva incorrect, they have 4 individual perks. Because not all their perks benefit their fellow survivors. If they had 16 perk slots, then every single perk would benefit every single survivor. So they'd be able to use DS 4 times, Self care woukd be at 4x the speed, and so on.

Give Killers a dedicated Hex Slot.
Give Survivors a dedicated Exhaustion Perk Slot.
