Mechanic: Notes and memories.
Synopsis: survivors can find notes around the map which contain flavor text and or big lore reveals. killers can find memories around the map, memories are similar to notes except they contain images. there will be a new section of the menu called 'lore' where notes and memories can be viewed .
Notes in depth: Notes can be found as scraps of paper on the floor and can be viewed under a new section of the menu called 'lore'. Notes can be either general notes or specific note and they are all part of a numbered series general notes are notes that offer general flavor text from unseen characters that give some hints on simple things about the world. specific notes are notes that pertain to specific characters and maps. notes related to characters are only found when that character is in the match and ones relating to maps are only found on that map. specific notes are rarer than regular notes and tell a cryptic story when put together.
Memories in depth: Memories like notes are part of series and can be general or specific and can also viewed in the lore section of the menu. memories appear as glowing floating orbs that can be interacted with to be collected. the memories can simply contain some concept art or glimpses at random parts of life life in the entity's realm but it can also contain important moments in a killer or maps history. specific memories are like specific notes with the fact that they are rarer and tell a cryptic story when put together.
Rewards: though some people may view lore as a good enough reward though some may not so i feel that collecting a full series of notes or memories should reward the player with a skin for that character and if its a map series then when they load into that map there should be a few changes to reflect the notes and memories events
Sorry if this unorganized i wanted to push this out before my mind forgets the idea

This reminds me of those old 1st person view games, like Slenderman, I love the idea.
The harm in this idea? Survivors won't do objectives and will want to just hunt the lore pages for cosmetics, I feel like if you die with them in your possession, they go back to where they were and spawn by RNG and randomized chances. In order to get them, you must survive.
The lore cosmetics could be cosmetics that relate to that individual's lore, like lore pages for all Killers and Survivors separately, you can't buy the cosmetics but you'll know if someone won these, everyone could just farm for pages too, which would suck, but to the end of it, great idea, can cause some issues in the game.
