Why are there so many toxic players?
Is it just the type of players on DbD? Don't understand why there's so much of it.

when i first started playing i noticed it. then it got better when Christmas break ended. now that the kids are home from school it seems to be back again.0

It's "funny" to troll people these days, it's "cool" to hate and it's "edgy" to be a dick. Unfortunately this means I am not funny, definitely not cool and as straight as you can get

That's more than likely what it boils down to. It's just something that's always stood out about DbD especially. Earlier today I was called a tryhard for having a fun game against 3 survivors, they had 4 gens done by the time I killed the three of them. I thought it was a good game until one of them piped up at me about tryharding, struggling, being bad etc. Previously I've been accused of camping when I haven't, tunneling when I haven't, being a tryhard when I've used 4 level 3 perks, a P2W warrior when I play dlc characters, and then every name under the sun.
It's a game, I enjoy it when I'm killer or survivor, and whether I get 4 kills, no kills, no escape or gens or whatever. I don't understand the mindset behind giving abuse when you lose4 -
Mindest is it's cool to abuse - it's a sorry state of the world at the moment. Bullying is cool bruh

I say bullying I mean more like bullying-lite but yeah also happens on nearly every game on every platform where chat is invited and used. I predict Deathgarden is going to be the biggest troll hard toxic fest ever

Right now, there is nothing that punishes toxic behavior.
That´s why.4 -

That´s why.Exactly right - it needs to be a social / mood change / unacceptance of it and it wont happen til something really tragic happens. I mean children and some adults kill themselves every day due to bullying and trolling. I worry for my daughter I really do - poor kid

LoL had a problem with toxic community. But i think they got a grip on it.
DbD doesn´t even have a working report button.Players need to be incentivized to play "nice" and punished if they are toxic and/or bully.

You do have a point however, in a game where you have 4 ppl working against one - or 1 person going round actively trying to hurt others (in a metophircal sense) then I think you will always have this kind of bully feel in the game.
I do think a report button and actively reducing toxic players by a no nonsense approach (this needs to be adopted across all companies, all platforms)

For whatever reason, I've never had more abuse/anger/general toxicity aimed my direction than I have on DbD. It doesn't put me off, I feed on the salt, but I don't understand why there seems to be such a toxic minority. Almost every match or two there's someone mouthing off at me.Is it just the type of players on DbD? Don't understand why there's so much of it.
The reasons are pretty simple. This game has been designed with some features intended to meme, which some people turned into toxicity.
As another thread stated, the mecanics of this game is a lot about humiliating your opponents. Coming from that basis, you're just hitting on the emotions of the players, which results on immature reactions, especially since acting like that has very low consequences since we're on the internet, and this game pretty much became the land of assumed toxicity, where it's nearly normal and "expected" to be toxic.

If you actuall try to play the game as it is indended, then it is considered "bad manners" because the game is unbalanced AF with completely flawed design choices

If I personally see someone t bag or especially someone tbag with a flashlight, I'll throw the game just to get them if I have to.
Also if you're name has a "666" in it or something like "0_l_Skillz_iz_4EVER_l_0
You're getting tunneled greatly.

Its been said a few times but I think it comes down to:
1. Its edgy/funny to act toxic with your friends or if you stream
2. Unbalanced gameplay leads to 4v1 "bullying" because there is no fear of being defeated with some of these squads so then they hold the game hostage until you come to the gate to watch them teabag before running out
3. Toxic behavior has no deterrents - I'd love to see an exhaustion kick in after several repeated crouches (not crouch...walk...crouch, i mean crouch - stand - crouch - stand - crouch ...Obvious tea bagging. Or even the entity getting involved for those waiting in the exit gate area with a countdown before a slowing effect is applied. If you are waiting on your team, you can run in and out exit area to avoid this but it would help with people just sitting in there waiting for me to come in. I know when I get crushed by a SWFs group I really don't want to go over to the exit to just watch them BM before leaving and currently im forced to do that because some people will wait 15-20 minutes for me to come over to see them "dance".These are all just ideas and ultimately i don't care, people will be toxic You have to develop a thick skin, ignore the bs and just try to look for the best in people, sometimes you will be surprised. (I've had survivors yell at other survivors for BM's or apologizing for rage quits during the game in the post-game lobby)
TL;DR - Just try to remember its a game and sometimes people will suck.

I really wish I knew why, because I love this game. I've been playing for almost a year now coming up in September, and I've had to deal with my fair share of internet tough guys as much as anyone else here. Bugs and balance of course have been an issue, but the venomous community is even worse in my opinion. I think it's sad that people must set their profiles to private so their comments aren't littered with -reps, death-threats, and lowlifes that tell them how they "played incorrectly".
Sure, some of us have thick skin, but I really don't think anyone deserves to be talked to like they're less than a human being. I hope people get punished more for toxic behavior in the near future, because being disrespectful is never cool.

The Howling Grounds event was the worst I have ever seen the Dbd community. So much toxicity.

I blame the competitive nature of the game combined with how easy it is to ruin the fun of the other side (Camping to troll, Infinite loops, bagging). A lot of people get salty and are sore losers, a lot of people have very large egos and are sore winners. The game has a ranking system that you can't really avoid so a lot of players play to win and when people are going out of their way to make your experience less challenging and more frustrating a lot of toxicity forms.

There always was a toxic players (CS-GO, Fortnite etc)Uhm, no. You are wrong sir. Utterly wrong. Shitheads exist in every game. That's just a fact. But games like CS or TF 2 or whatever have NOTHING on DbD. Nothing. When every other match or every 3rd match on average has trolling in-game and flaming in the chat then I think you have a problem with the community.
I've heard comparisons to League of Legends but I've never played it so I can't confirm if that community is equally bad.
I don't think he/she is utterly wrong but I do think it is a bit lower in some games than others that's true. Dota2 community is truly horrid...I mean...its insane how horrible it is. I've had many arguments with trolls and shitheads on CS:S and CS:GO - TF2 not so much but then I haven't played that for like 12 years, but trolling in CS is much more common place than you think, well that's what I think anyway.
I never knew how deeply rooted the toxicity in DBD was until I came on these forums lol

We'd call it 1v9 because there would be cases where your entire team would flame you along with the enemies.
And this is Valve-- one of the strongest and richest gaming companies in the world--struggling with toxicity.

People tend to remember and voice negativity a lot more than positivity.

You are right ppl love to moan, its a fact - I think it's a therapeutic thing. I play SWF with new rank 20 players, and just try and have fun. Generally its good fun - but on here its all Survivor vs Killer, PC vs Console, Xbox vs PS4 - it's like a constant battle with someone on here.

Actually I would beg to differ on this, the most toxic community belongs to that of League of Legends. I had to give up that game because of the toxicity especially from players on the same side.
In Dbd I've had my equal share of "gg", "ggwp" to "you're a tryhard and I will report you". The toxic comments I tend to ignore now and just get on with it. I will however message good killers and let them know it was a fun game and got my heart beating haha.
