Why do people hate OoO, I think Its Ligit the best perk
I just recently got object of obsession from the shrine, because i had enough shards and the other 3 perks i thought were just as poop, and i thought i'd get it for the lols, but after a while of using it, i fell COMPLETELY in love with it. i feel that this perk fixes so many issues i had with different parts of a match in dbd, and OoO literall saved my life sooooooo many times, and allowed me to completely avoid the killer most matches, or at least know exactly where they are.
for example, when i start a match the first thing i do is look out for the killer while hopping strait onto the nearest gen, and with OoO that can take literally seconds, and because the aura is pink, i can hide it behind a gen, which i think most people dont realise is a thing, because ive never seen people do it, also, i can tell if another survivor is being chased, and where the killer is going to hook them, which is pretty neat.
another thing it is soooo useful for is evading the killer, even though most people will say that OoO kills hiding from the killer, they are so wrong, as you cant see the killers aura when in the terror radius, which allows me to mindgame the killer so hard since i can look where he is coming from, then ill turn arround so he cant see my aura and move towards him but from arround the side, a.k.a doing a semi circle, and then when the killer checks the spot i was at they dont find me, then they kick the gen and go away (usually), either that or they find me, and the trick to hiding from the killer is that the killer usually feels really confident they know where you are, since they could see your aura before you stopped looking at them, this gives them false confidence to check exactly where the aura was to see you not there, because why the heck would i stay there.
the only 2 problems i find when running this perk is that, 1, your pretty much ALWAYS the obsession, since ds doesnt make you obsession anymore and because people dont run it anymore, and i sweaar that there is a bug with mettle of man, because almost every time anather survivor in my team uses it they arent ever the obsession, despise there being a 50/50 chance for either of us being it, also rip playing against a killer with dying light or rancor. and 2, is that you CANNOT stop moving when you are not on a gen, something i had to learn really quickly when running this perk is that even though the killer doesnt look back at you doesnt mean they didnt see you, as the first few times i play with OoO i would look at the killer when they were chasing anather survivor and then hooking them, to then see them coming for me, which i quickly realised was because i would constantly looking at them, which you should NEVER do when running this perk UNLESS you want the killer to tunnel you all game, becaus eif you want to do that then go ahead.
p.s. anather cool feature about this perk that isnt really a feature but more of a mechanic is that ALL 4 survivors can run this perk, which means that the killer has 4 viable targets to chose from at the start of the game, and all survivors know where the killer is, great for SWF, and who doesnt want to confuse the jebus out the killer.

It is a pretty good perk, it just doesn’t belong in my build.

I use it when I want a break from being the gen jockey. With this I want to learn how to loop better.
I'm experimenting with different OoO builds. DS is always a part of it. I like to use Distortion with it, so the killer does not see me in the 360 at the beginning of the match so I can run away and position well/snipe an important gen.
Alternatively I use DH/BL but not MoM (too toxic).
I like OoO because u can plan ahead, distract and confuse the killer like you mentioned.
The best experience was on The Pale Rose where 2 and I sat on a gen in the middle, when the crows flew away. OoO didn't show so I knew it was Myers stalking from the boat. I crouched away to safety (the 3rd person came to the gen and pointed on me for "being stupid"). I watched from the distance while breaking a totem how they got stalked to hell and EWIII'ed within half a minute. That was kinda satisfying.

If you think you can make it work, then use it. I tend to use perks that nobody uses like small game and tenacity and I do just fine.

I mean, sure, Object of Obsession can help a lot to avoid the Killer. I only ran it when doing Random Perks or when doing the Adept Laurie-Achievement, but it helped a lot with that.
But, and that is the big point, it is often abused by people to get the Killers attention to bully them. Or, when they are in a SWF-group (especially 4), to get information where the Killer is at any point.
And therefore it is understandable that Killers dont like this Perk. When I have an OoO in my game, I will tunnel this person to get him/her removed form the game ASAP. It is not nice, but those people also dont want to play nice, and well... It is strategically the best way tbh.

My normal build is way different too: Spine Chill, Distortion, Stake Out and Self Care. But sometimes I want to play different.
I tend to ignore people who want my attention. Especially those who use OoO or are flashlight clicking. I rather chase and kill the (often much weaker) rest first and go after the other at last when the hatch is closed and there is nowhere for him to go.

If you have a med kit, what perk do you use in place of self care?
0 -
I actually never use self care (unless I’m playing Claudette which is never). I don’t even have the teachable unlocked. I would rarely have to heal my self.
When I have a med kit however I normally use Botany knowledge for the reduce the consumption so I can heal teammates without having to worry about it running out. Sometimes I even bring pharmacy so I have a backup just in case.

@LapisInfernalis If you have a med kit, what perk do you use in place of self care? @CubeyBlueDice I mistakenly asked you.

@wait4him2leave That’s okay. I hope I gave you an idea though.

I rarely do this, but I used Spine Chill then. That's good for killers with small TR because you know they have seen you before you hear the heartbeat, which is my notmal indicator to be careful. Nice to have when you are looking away from the killer for not giving away your position.
Else: I would try Urban Evasion, Unbreakable, Iron Will instead of SC but I did not test it yet. (rank reset is perfect for this)

Object of Obsession is seen as a perk to insta know who the Killer is and a perk for overconfident Survivors who think they can run a Killer around for 5 gens, I killed one recently with Freddy.

Usually when I run OoO I get Freddy.

I think its useful since you can see where the killers is, but if you use it properly they will see your aura but still not find you. It used to be perfect for my Laurie with DS, but now DS is nerf I don't tend to use it, since it doesn't fit with any other of my perk builds
a lot of people don't like it because of the fact that, if you're working on a gen an you see each others auras, youre kinda giving away the other dude.
just use it wisely and its great

Its useful yeah, but I'd much rather have perks that don't come with a killer incentive to camp or tunnel me. From killer side, even if your solo, they figure your feeding the team updates or your an attention runner. Either way the results can be bad for their performance if true.

In theory that sounds good, in reality though the OoO still wins whether you chase him forever or ignore him. Ignoring is pretty dangerous when he can watch you back.

It worked well for me so far.
These attention seekers are best at looping and therefore buying time, so I deny them this by ignoring them until they make a mistake. Most times I find them in a locker or when they mess up with their precious purple flashlight. Or I chase them at the end till all pallets are gone and they have nowhere to go and their DS (or MoM now), DH and adrenaline are gone. If they are the last I have all time in the world whereas midgame I have not.
For a toxic OoO I look at them for a few seconds and then just go the opposite direction. I notice where they are but showing no interest in them until they feel safe and I can ambush them.
Best was, when I was chasing someone as Myers near the guy with OoO I suddenly abandon the chase and got my obsession.
This works almost every time, because these people tend to get overconfident.

OoO seems solid as a perk if your an amazing looper. Otherwise the perk is very tricky to use and learn how to use.
It also tends to open the door to being hard tunneled if the killer suspects your in an swf. Taking the uav survivour offline is paramount if your a stealth killer.
Personally i believe this perk should be disabled if players want to swf as having a survivour hang by a powerfil loop feeding info on your position via comms is a step way to far.
2 -
Then there shouldn't be a 4 man swf at all because you get the info anyway. No need for OoO. But this athother thing.
But you are right that OoO is difficult to use when not a good looper (as myself). But I think sometimes it's better to learn the hard way (I do not have Windows Of Opportunity yet) where the good and bad loops are.
Oddly I have problems with OoO at lower ranks but not at mid ranks. Maybe because I mostly do gens and the other players are not so experienced but very stealthy so I become the target. Whereas in mid ranks others can take away the aggro.
Or what do you think about this?
2 -
You actually can't hide any aura behind gen. Its just matter of killer paying attention or not.

I haven't played with OoO but it's also smart to mention that it works well with Sole Survivor, another Laurie perk. As more people die, you can see the killer with OoO but he can't see you as well due to the decreased aura reading. At level 3, if you're the obsession that means if you're at least 49 meters away, he can't see you but you can see him. If you're not the obsession you can be at least 41 meters away and he can't see you but you can him. And that's with only one person killed.

At least you get to kill them. For me they usually DC :P
1 -
OoO = have fun on the hook with me staring into your soul / me focusing you over the other survivors.
Killers usually focus the OoO users, as chances are they play SWF and constantly tell their team your position. OoO is known to be one of the most toxic perks, as its usually used by overconfident survivors who think they were hot #########, teabagging and in general thinking they were untouchable.
1 -
this is why i love to run this perk how i do, as it is almost always used as an aggressive, chase me perk, but i myself have quite a passive playstyle, and through that i have even friended many killers( not while running OoO of course), but via the use of OoO you can know where the killer is coming from, and instead of doing what most do when running this perk, which is run towards them, which i personally find quite stupid, i use it to get away from them, and even as the last survivor, the killer usually thinks you'll come towards them, so when you walk the other way it either confuses them, or makes them thoroughly search that area, while you safely working on a gen on the oppisite of the map, while not staring at the killer, but instead at spine chill, waiting for them to approach so you can turn and get a glimpse of where they are, and then sneakily go around them and back the way they came, and if this works, the killer is going to be so confused that they probably wont stop searching that area till you finish another gen, unless they have whispers, because that perk strait up counters walking away from the killer. and that's why i love the way i use OoO so much, as its so controversial that killers just strait up get confused of where you are all the time, and it usually gets then to try to find you as they usually like to tunnel the heck out of the obsession, even when not running remember me or dying light.

rip OoO users

you forgot to mention that it counters stealth killers like pig, wraith and jumpscare myers in lery's memorial
0 -
bro it counters all killers stealth abilities besides spirits phase, myers teir 1, and freddy when not in dream world.
0 -
So with Freddy you can't see him, but he can see you? That's sad.
