On the topic of the leaked battle pass...
For those of you who don't know, a recently posted thread had discussed their findings of what was seemingly a battle/season pass in the dev build.
(The thread in question: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/63206/oh-lord#latest )
What I am curious about right now is a few things that we should discuss if this is actually legitimate..
1: Current Shop
The battle pass in question clearly shows items from the shop, which is alright, but I don't exactly think that's something people would want out of this scenario. What makes battle passes in most games unique are the creativity gone into it (unless if it's by EA), in which there's actually new cosmetics and items within the shop for players to acquire, not recycling items that can just be purchased at any given point. Not to mention that the season pass could be very limited if players already own the items it is trying to offer...New items would be nice, even if they're just reskins of the shop items, as long as they're not the same.
2: Price
The game currently costs 20$, and if you count DLC, it is worth a lot more than it's original price. The problem with having two variants of the Battle Pass is that price possibilities that could come out of it. Most games sell their battle passes for about 10-20$, yet they're currently free to play, and for games such as Black Ops 4, their season pass is free. What I'm worried of, as of now, is, again, the price. If it is needed to be purchasable, then keeping it under 7$ is seemingly fair, (and having auric cells be used to purchase it would be nice) as it would be about the same price as the DLCs, yet also making it free would benefit in having old players that have left the game to return to earn new rewards for actually putting their time and effort into the game.
3: Devotion and Ranking
There is currently two systems that act similar to a tier pass, yet they offer no rewards. Leveling up gives you shards, sure, but devotion itself does not offer any benefits, and a lot of players have already voiced their opinions on the fact that ranking up has no rewards besides longer ques and an achievement that may not even be seen by most players if you keep your profile private (Which most players tend to do from what I've seen). These should really be looked into more beforehand if there were to be a battle pass, or have them somehow affect the season pass in a way also could be very beneficial in having players WANT to purchase it if it were to be purchasable, though rewards still need to be given eventually before players begin to give up on the ranking and devotion to just keep DCing and saving up shards to get a perk they want.
Hopefully most of this is taken into account if viewed by a dev, I just hope that if this does become a thing, that there will be consideration into giving the players what they want, rather than just having this end up being something that may be useless in the end and upset more players.
(EDIT was to clarify the Battle Pass, NOT a Season Pass, which was a mistake on my behalf)

Looking into the amount of purple cosmetic you can earn I doubt it would be under 20$ it's too less to let them earn money with it otherwise

Mayhaps...Though that could really be a low blow to the community if that were the case. ;(

Imagine in an alternate reality where this existed and Legacy skins were on sale for 20$ each...............
Please let this not be that reality...

I don’t mind paying $20 for a season. If this is being implemented then that’s good because there need to be something that keep older players wanting to play. Once I p3 all killers and survivors I don’t see much use of continuing to play.
New Chapter, Cosmetics and Events is what keep this game refreshing for me.
And I think the images you see now are placeholders for sure.
People who will buy the season pass are players that already buy cosmetics. As you can see the premium season pass offers Exclusive cosmetics.
There wouldn’t be a need to change the price of the game. Not much will be changing.

I don't mind these kind of cosmetic things but if they start to give away shards and bloodpoints, then the game dies for me.
I am so sorry but I don't want to go against a killer who uses ebony mori every single game or survivors with insta heals.
Just a big no.

The only game that has a good Battle Pass is Fortnite, because you can earn enough of the premium currency from the Pass itself to buy a new Pass thus letting you get new Passes for free, provided you play consistently (which is something game developers should strive for).
Behavior would go the route of EA's Battle Pass, where there's literally no reward to be had for a dedicated player. Heck, they'll provide "pay to level up" upgrades together with the Battle Pass for the players that don't play enough. The cattle needs milking, this is the perfect chance.

@se05239 Who knows anymore, anything is possible, though I don't think they'd pull an EA on us.
@Iceman Yeah, probably, I meant just relating towards the ONE season (AKA the battle pass, I guess?) the pass gives, but I guess I just forgot the difference between Battle and Season passes, in sense of terms. If it IS a season pass, in which it goes for an entire year, then yeah, I'd pay for that, but if it's just a Battle Pass, then they should look into that being a bit cheaper.

If there is a season pass coming soon. I will be mad if it puts everything new behind a paywall.

I mean as long as there is a way other than paying real money I'm fine with it.
Just mad if they say it costs 500 auric cells to get the pass.
If there was 500 auric cells or 8k iridescent shards then that's fine.

In what way would it put the game behind a paywall?
- It is just cosmetics
- It gives you a few blood points but not over the top
- It would just be a fun way for people to earn their cosmetics instead of directly buying them.
Once again not much will be changing. Like I said those who already buy cosmetics would buy this.

Battle/Season pass, I don’t see in anyway how this would give a player an advantage over the game.

@Iceman Oh, yeah, I agree, I was just stating what the topic should've been about lol

Yeah, I will definitely be excited if there is possibility of having Joey in a suit.

Pay 2 Win anyone?
1 -
Battle Pass? No. Rank/Devotion Rewards? Yes.
3 -
@Tefatika That is true, I am worried that this could cause a lot of issues within the game for Players who might spend too much on it and hurt themselves, but we'll have to see.

@Chaotic_Riddle That's the greedy developer's dream. Why do you think so many microtransactions in the modern gaming industry takes the form of a literal one-armed bandit?

Buying a battle pass that awards bloodpoints or a multipler for bloodpoints earned is pay to win(moris' syringes ,instaheals ultra rare killer addons etc) If the pass is strictly used just to earn cosmetics and unique cosmetics tied to that season who cares.
Spend your money but remember you already paid $20 or $30 for the game depending on what platform you play on and not to mention chapters, charity case, headcase, and cosmetics already.
When you add it all up you maybe shocked how much money you actually have put into this game. I had a discussion with a friend this weekend and we added up her stuff while waiting in a lobby it was somewhere between $240 and $270. $20 here and there for Auric Cells adds up.
