DBD Chapter: The Puppeteer

Before you read: This is my first time creating a fan made chapter about dead by daylight, and mostly having fun with this rather than focusing too much on the balance side, after finishing I realized how OP and game breaking this killer would be if he was added, but I hope you guys enjoyed it either way.


Backstory:

Carl Sarabando never did get the chance to run his own puppet show, the one he always wanted to open when he was a little kid growing up in New York. His father was harsh on him due to this fantasy, telling him to pursue a path that would actually be successful. Regardless of their parents disapproval, he continued to sneak out and watch puppet shows conducted by professonials. Something about the way the actors controlled the lifeless souls of figures always fasinated him, and his desire only grew as time went on. He would begin creating Voodoo dolls, which were his favorite as he learned how to create them from a performance. He would work part time, saving up money to purchase a spot to conduct his own shows for others to enjoy. When the time came for his first performance, he was soon devastated. No one enjoyed his shows from the beginning, and less people showed up as time went on. He failed everyone, his family, his peers, his role models. All the money he gambled on, all the hope he had for this career, was quickly crushed. He lashed out in anger, and began kidnapping kids to understand what he was doing that was wrong. He would tie them up and force them to watch in his performances he conducted secretly in his basement, torturing them if they did not comply. He soon grew pleasure in harvesting kids, using them as props for his shows. He loved the feeling of having complete control, and this would result in several more bloody performances. The police traced the missing kids to his location, revealing piles of dead bodys lying all across the stage. After his last performance, Carl went running from the police until he stumbled across the woods. He wandered until he quickly began to feel a presence, growing closer and darkening his surroundings. He ran from the fog, refusing to be overwhelmed by it's presence. He soon found himself cornered, and offered the chance to redeem himself. The fog whispered a world where Carl can be in control of the lives of others, a chance to demonstrate how good his skills can be with the right power. One minute later he was soon surrounded by complete darkness, a feeling which quickly overwhelmed him, but soon found enjoyment out of it. Once he woke up, he saw a strange world which felt completely different from the one he was previously in. And thanks to this new strange world present, his utensils can finally come to life just how he envisioned them to be. While examining his new surroundings, he stumbled upon new faces, some which intrigued his desires for creation and gained his attention to harvest them.

Killer: Puppeteer

The Puppeteer is unique to this genre as he is a grappling killer, grabbing survivors and pulling them closing to their demise. His unique perks Killer adrenaline, Pin injection, and stringed together increases his power at the start of the match while slowing weakening as the trial continues.


Power: The strings

The blue strings that he used on his victims have been empowered by the Entity, giving them the durability to latch onto survivors and send them closer to the killer. His current range that he can throw his strings is 14 meters, but this can be modified with addons. He slows down when charging up the strings, but walks normally when fully charged. Suffers a fatigue cooldown when he misses. Besides that, he has a pair of sharp scissors which he uses as his base attack to apply damage as soon as they get pulled closed to him with his strings.

  • Voodoo Dolls (5) will be scattered around the map randomly. For each Voodoo Doll on the map currently, the puppeteer will gain a 2% movement speed increase. Once a Voodoo Doll is cleansed by the survivor, the killer's aura will be revealed to that survivor for 4 seconds and the killer loses a stack.


Killer Perks:


Killer Adrenaline

  • You start the trial with 3/2/1 less dull totems. For each dull totem currently in the map, gain a token. For each token, gain a 2/3/4% increase in movement speed.


Pin Injection

  • For each unrepaired generator (7) on the field, gain a token. Each token reduces the speed of generation progression by 1/2/3%. You lose 3/2/1 token when a generator is repaired.


Stringed together

  • You become obsessed with one survivor. As long as your obsession is alive, opened exit gates will close again within 60/40/20 seconds of their intial opening.


Killer addons

Ultra rare : Iridescent string

  • *Allows the ability to lunge and drop pallets while in a chase.
  • Moderately reduces string range 14 -> 10
  • Slightly reduces movement speed.

Ultra rare : rusty strings

  • Removes the ability to grapple survivors.
  • Strings will now damage the survivior.
  • Applies fatigue cooldown on successful hits as well.


Rare : String extensions

  • Tremendously increase string range 14 -> 20
  • Slightly reduces string accuracy.


Rare : Voodoo doll party

  • Increases the number of Voodoo dolls on the map by 3.
