yelling
I don't get it. These forums are flooded with complaints.

Pallets, DS, SB, looping, camping, BBQ, hexes....yadda yadda yadda. /yelling

inquisitive tone
Do you people even play the game anymore? Like, how does your day go? Play a match as killer, get blinded, quit game come to forums, "Flashlights are OP". Load back into the game as a survivor, get camped, quit game, come to forums, "Camping need to stop". /inquisitive tone

shakes head
You people have NO perspective....I'm telling you....the only thing that ever needed fixed in this game was window juking. That's it, that's all. /shakes head

assertive tone
Since day one, even with window juking, as a killer, I still got 3 and 4Ks. As a survivor, sometimes I got away, sometimes I didn't. It happens to ALLLLLLL of us. Just play the damn game! /assertive tone

pathetic Hitler mood scene from the movie Downfall©
Now we have magical resetting traps, healing that doesn't heal until complete, DS that doesn't free you from the killer, Emblems, and Calm Spirit that prevents scr....okay, that one might make sense. No, no, no....too many changes. It's just change, after change, after change.... /pathetic Hitler mood scene from the movie Downfall©

single tear running down a Native American cheek ala stop littering campaign from the '70s
You are going to win....and you are going to lose. Neither result requires a change. Just play the game....or don't, I don't care. Part of me thinks the game, or at the very least, the community would be better without you, and your endless complaints....gone. /single tear running down a Native American cheek ala stop littering campaign from the '70s

Here's a secret. People who complain about things want them to be fixed.
Some people leave and look for something else because they say "this is hopeless and/or garbage"
Some people go "This game could be so much fun if it wasn't for all this trash"

    JUST FIX THE TRASH DEVS

    ### ARE YOU DOING

    REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

The ones who love the game are going to be the ones who complain the most. It's perfectly normal. You want your game to be perfect for a given value of perfect that you have come up with yourself. Besides, have you never heard the phrase "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"?

This is where we will disagree. I've been playing games for a long time now. I've never seen people complain about this much. I've seen much more caustic complaining. I mean real emotions....but not every single aspect of the game.

I do not believe this amount of complaining is normal. Complaining, yes, normal. TWO YEARS and people still complain about camping.....come on.

Of course...I just don't think the constant appeasement of the masses is conducive to the overall health of the game.

A long time ago....a Dev once told a forum (something like) "Most people enjoy the game. We just have a very vocal and negative minority in these forums. People who like the game are too busy playing the game". That always stuck with me. In the case of DBD....seems as though a lot of people hate many aspects of the game, yet STILL play the damn thing. Hence the question, "Why are you still here".

Most of it is because they had one bad match and feel the need to vent somewhere. I always enjoy reading the "X is too OP" Discussions because you know they just had a match where whatever it is hurt them badly or caused them to screw up. Most posts here you have to take with a grain of salt because that's all they are, a way to express being upset you screwed up by focusing blame on something else. Much like US politics.

If there's noone complaining, then of course the game is perfectly balanced. You will never get to that point in a competitive style game. The meta should constantly change, reflecting balance adjustments and new additions, and there should always be someone posting about how "This change is horrible". That means the Devs are doing their job to keep the game fresh and enjoyable.

Since the meta has been so stale for the past 2 years, a lot of people just stopped playing. The free weekends and other events also bring a new population. For them stuff like Camping and Looping is completely new and unanticipated. It will seem either OP or cheating until they learn the proper methods of combatting that tactic.

The first time I got Camped, I was pretty pissed. I stayed and asked the Killer why, and got a really good explanation for the reasons. Have to add the other Survivors threw salt at him, but I was curious as to why he did it. Once I knew, I had to plan my strategy around the possibility of being Camped, or having another Survivor get Camped. Take that into account though for things like "Camping should be bannable" and other posts along those lines. I'll not even get into the first time I got semi-Infinited and facecamped the poor bugger. Then I got a pretty good explanation of the whys and reasons, and what I should do in that situation from the Survivors post-game. Salty at first, but then they realized I was new to Killer and a couple gave me good advice.

As weird as it might sound, often times the people who like the game the most are the ones who complain the most. You don't stick around and complain about a game you don't like and don't want to play to begin with. Reality is, people don't often come to the forums for any game just to say, "Wow, this is really fun, keep up the good work!" More often than not games with a sizable playerbase see a lot of negative feedback.

There are definitely some people out there who will complain for the sake of complaining, but most people just want to see the game improve. Negative feedback is still feedback. You don't fix problems by having everyone tell you it's perfect.

I don't subscribe to this. I don't believe people have the overall health of the game in mind with their "suggestions". Some instances, yes, of course....but most seem to just want a tailored game.

Someone pointed out that there might be an influx of new players not initiated or indoctrinated right away. I get that. I just find it strange that after 2 years, people still complain about camping and looping.....yet still play. Change this, change that, this sucks, this needs fixed...I mean, if it were one or two issues, I'd understand that, but some players seem to take issue with the game in it's entity. It's good though, lots of answers here.....so I guess that's something.

Is there flaws with the game? Yes. Does it get on nerves every now and then? Definitely. Is it usually a highly competitive environment with a winner and a loser? Undoubtedly. Does that mean people will stop playing it? No, of course now. People just blow steam, just because they're tired of camping or looping or perks or whatever doesn't mean they're done with the game. I'm not sure why you would think that if someone gets frustrated with someone and lobbies for a change means they would permanently leave the game

Sometimes I do what I want, other times I do what I have to....admittedly, I may be projecting, but when I do the things I want, it doesn't include playing a game I don't like.

If people could stop complaining about things they don't like and just leave it so easily, would this thread even exist?

The whole point of a dev run forum is to give your opinion about the game you're playing.

Usually when people are happy with a game they don't have much to say. Maybe a 'keep up the good work!' every so often, and then they continue playing and enjoying themselves.

It's people that find issues with the game that have the most reason to post continuously. They have their initial post, posted out of anger, concern for the game's future, frustration, or a general desire to make the game better. Then people respond to these posts, prompting further responses from these people to justify or clarify their positions.

There's also the serious fans of the game who come on here, whether it's to "Defend" their game, or to post ideas or disagree with what they think is a bad suggestion. That ultimately means you see a lot of threads with a lot of differing opinions and a lot of complaints.

I can't think of a single competitive game where the community isn't like that. There's always someone who feels cheated, who feels their preferred set up isn't strong enough, or that someone else's set up is too strong, etc. It's normal, and I actually find it rather ironic that you're making a thread complaining about people complaining. You even criticise them for complaining about game balance, and use that criticism as an opportunity for you to complain about game balance. Well done.

But....this isn't a competitive game, is it? I mean, no one is paying money to win in a tournament, are they?

It's all good, I appreciate the comments and feedback here....I believe many people just like to complain.

People are still here because we care. We see this game's potential and are constantly fighting to improve it.

The ones left without saying a word are those who have abandoned this game.

A few points. This particular forum is actually rather mild on complaining honestly. As compared to other discussion groups for this game, we are passive. Secondly, the complaining done is nothing like most other games. I remember UO, EQ, UT and many other games from the late 90s to mid 00s. Now that was complaining. UO community was extremely hard on the devs with their screams of balancing and fixes. Lastly, to answer your very first question, I post on here either when I am at work or my wife is playing DbD.

Why am I still here? Easy answer I don’t really complain. Is the game perfect? No but is anything perfect? No but there’s always room for improvement! Anyways I come here for the laughs and giggles because you have to admit most people say the funniest things on here and others you take with a grain of salt. Most of my comments on here are jokes and observations.
