Hatch Escape slower than Hatch Close?
So the killer being able to close the hatch while your character is in the jumping in the hatch animation is based on who has host or best ping? Or no matter what the killer is suppose to win? Cause i just watched a game where the survivor started to jump in before the killer closed and the killer just closed the hatch and it basically froze the survivor in their leap and then placed them back on the ground 2 seconds later and the hatch was closed. Can someone provide information as to how this was designed to work?

This would be latency. The killer being host would have activated the "close hatch" option but the command didn't register on the survivor side immediately. This would have caused the odd animation delay/glitch with the survivor .

Yeah that happend to me a lot of times..
That's unfair and I think is latency

If the killer is right by the hatch contesting it you can't get in.
Unless you have a key. Hatch close has priority atm if both are there and press at the same time.

It's latency; hatch jumping actually takes priority in most cases, in my experience as killer and survivor. If the killer is laggy, though, they'll obviously close the hatch before the survivor can jump in.

Hatch closing takes priority, and the killer can block hatch by standing right on it (very fun as wraith to do this then kick hatch when the survivor goes for it).
However, latency comes into play too

I'm pretty sure the Hatch closing takes priority with all the examples from my experience as a survivor and I a killer myself.
At least in this current stage if you feel in anyway shape or form the killer can contest you at Hatch immediately leave it.
However it does seem to be a very difficult issue to try to solve probably when dedicated servers come around they could make it so whoever clicks the button first wins

I dont think it has to do with latency. I think it is simply a way to prevent hatch standoffs. If the Survivor is just hanging out on top of the hatch, then the Killer can close it before the Survivor escapes through it. It punishes attention seeking Survivor. And considering the hatch grab was removed, Im fine with this.

This is a ping issue, I'm sure. A lot of people under estimate the advantage of being the server.

That's a latency issue. The killer cannot close the hatch or grab the survivor once they have started jumping by design. Whoever gets there first wins. The issue is that there's a delay between the survivors and the killer. By the time the survivor's client sends info to the killer saying, "Hey, I'm jumping in", they've already started closing the hatch on their end.

I miss the hatch-grab :,-( that was so much fun.
I also liked to get into a hatch standoff just to get up, have a coffe, eat something and rest a little before coming back and smack the survivor if they were still around. I could not believe that they would waste so much time like that ;-) I don't miss that though, the EGC is a good feature.

@Peanits right now it's consistent since Killer is host. But once dedicated servers come out wouldn't it make the entire thing come down to just lag?
Actually how exactly is a Killer supposed to stop a hatch escape via key? It seems to me like your only option is to tunnel anyone who brings a key.

The same way you prevent a mori. You really cant. It sucks, but its gonna happen.
