Devs, reconsider the fast vault changes
I agree that MoM should not be in this game, but the fast vault changes are definitely not necessary.

It's not like you can't fast vault any windows. But certain windows that were a problem needed to be dealt with.
14 -
they really need to stop messing with vaults
change the problem windows themselves
24 -
Sorry, but I don't understand which changes you are referring to. I don't understand the videos either. Who is the person talking?
1 -
I totally agree. I mean, i don't think is hard to put a door frame next to the ironworks window, or even remove it. But instead they are messing with vaults and even get a fast vault while looping the shack is now almost imposible (shack is an infinite btw)
0 -
Well devs did say they are removing infinites so these changes are necessary
9 -
I 100% agree with u. instead of being rewarded for taking the time to learn some vaults, everyone will vault the same thing the same way now :(
5 -
With all the broken things in this game, the skill gap is the least of our worries,Imo xD
2 -
what changes are you guys talking about? can someone link the source?

The vaulting mechanic is in a good place after the last update. Vaulting can get too flimsy and mess up everything for you if you can't rely on them. Don't do it, please.
2 -
It will no longer be possible to medium-vault Windows/fast-vault Pallets from a stand-still. You know, those scenarios where Survivors stand right next to a safe pallet and vault back and forth across it with full momentum, something which is not possible in reality.
Just like IRL, Survivors will have to run up to the vaults for a bit in order to get the faster vaults. This change is intended to lower the amount of safe pallets and remove some of the more obnoxious window loops.
14 -
The streamer honestly admits that the fast vaults in question were intentionally made to be impossible, but people could accomplish what wasn't supposed to be possible in the first place after developing a certain skillset. Admittedly, it can be annoying to put effort into learning something only to have that effort made pointless, but it's entirely clear that removing unintended gameplay is the correct course of action even if it's going to disappoint people that put effort into learning how to do it.

sound like a good change tbh, but is that true and not just a bug?

I'll be nice and not say what I'm actually thinking right now, but it's literally the second bullet point in the PTB Patch Notes about Gameplay changes.
1 -
@Dehitay I am not really a good survivor by any means. But the window vault mechanics were so brain dead I was able to do them to run from the killer effectively.
Also this line, "Admittedly, it can be annoying to put effort into learning something only to have that effort made pointless" is what Freddy mains are saying to the rework XD
3 -
they literally are, they are entering a phase of map reworks, this is a bandaid fix for the time being.

Isn't that a good thing? Save Pallets shouldn't even be in the game in my opinion they don't require skill to outplay a killer on them nor can the Killer counter them skillfully. Save pallets should be mindgameable and that change allows it just mind game the killer and pretend you are going to go over the pallet but run a different direction
1 -
Damn, I always liked to do some tricks with windows to trigger a fast vault. I will miss them somehow.
0 -
IRL. I don't man, let's get some huge dude with a revved up chainsaw coming at you and let us know how fast you can make it over a pallet or through a window from any angle. I bet it would be pretty fast.

Made my day LOL

I mean, survivors represent an average human. Killers are supernatural beings. I don't think this comparison can be made. Seems to me that this is just a step towards a different style of looping that BHVR wants to promote.
1 -
Well not to derail into a lore conversation, but survivors are probably not average humans either and a touch supernatural themselves. They fall from great heights without injury, get impaled/stabbed/bludgeoned then heal quickly, are murdered dozens if not hundreds of times yet keep coming back. They are prisoners in a realm where the physical laws of real world obviously are distorted or flat out don't apply. I'm just not a fan of applying the 'realism' or 'irl' argument to this game, especially vaulting.
4 -
Gotcha, fair point ^^

This change was necessary. We should all be putting praise on BHVR for this change.
5 -
Apparently what I got from him is
Super safe pallets = sKi11
Infinites = SkI11
5 -
Putting a bunch of time learning on how to do what is basically an unintended thing or exploit in a game is pretty stupid. I mean, for example, the only reason wavedashing wasn't removed in Smash Bros: Melee is because it was console, and patching already published games wasn't really an option back then for Nintendo.
Nowadays, why even bother learning things like this if they are going to get patched out eventually?
Literally just reeks of "I want to win at any cost."
1 -
They dont want buff non viable killer, because some killers must be fun to play against.
So they nerf survivors.
PS: I hate every sentence in my comment.
1 -
This change also removed the skill of survivors a bit. The old vault tech was quite difficult on difficult windows, not everyone could pull that off. Not even some players with 1k hours. Sadly, it's getting more and more casual in terms of detailed skill, timing and tech performing
5 -
Watched the clip: I agree with him. Stupid change, wasn't necessary and makes playing survivor more boring as it already is.
4 -
There's no compelling argument from either sides.
It's either some BS like "reducing skill" or "hurhur infinites", yet demonstration of neither points.
1 -
What? This is LESS casual.
Before, you can fast vault pallets from a standstill.
Now you actually have to run at the pallet, and/or move to a new position after a vault in order to gain distance/mindgame the Killer.
In other words, the game will now require MORE skill from the Survivor.
Thankfully, I never used these "features" anyway, so this will not affect my gameplay.
Hilarious when people act like unintended things should be considered skillful.

Well, Mclean explained better :
So, goodbye to the cheecky vaults on groaning storehouse, rancid, and suffocation pit .
Adapt, improvise, and overcome .
2 -
Wait, are pallets affected by this change as well? I thought just windows.
0 -
The video isn't working
0 -
Works for me. Basically he said that people were getting fast vaults when they shouldn't have been by basically slamming themselves into the wall, even though at that point they were considered "standing still." There was debris around these vaults to intend to always force a medium vault, but people essentially found an exploit.
This removes that exploit. So basically, if you weren't doing this, it isn't going to affect your gameplay at all.
7 -
Mclean also said, only windows.
1 -
This is a game where you can take yourself off of being impaled on a meat hook and. Not. Bleed to death, or tank a chainsaw.
We're well past the point of realism and worrying about being true to real life.
That said, this Is good choice and necessary for the game.
3 -
Reality..? LOL.. yeah show me how you can chainsaw sprint someone through a window if you wanna play that card bucko.
3 -
I mean you have arms don't you? You can't reach out through a window?
Also, latency isn't considered a part of the game because it's just that, latency.
1 -
Seems like a good change
1 -
Might as well change the name of the game to "killer gets what he wants". This is a joke. I dont do the fast vaults back and forth but saying its unnatural is being dumb. Realistically if the killers are supernatural the survivors should die everytime. Changes keep getting made to the survivors that are ridiculous and seriously uncalled for just because some killer thinks he deserves to get a 4k. EGC is a complete joke. And they need to change it where if the entity kills you the killer doesnt get that kill. It's a timer for us to get out and a timer for the killer to kill us. Shouldnt not be pointed in one way. Basically the killer gets a free kill now every game. Off topic a bit I apologize. It's just annoying that the killer can go back and forth every match between the exit gates every 4 seconds. It's not possible to get out unless you use plunder which your being forced to take at this point if you want to get out. So might as well say survivors gave 3 perk slots a perm plunder perk.
1 -
You think the devs patching an exploit survivors found that allowed them to fast vault windows that were not supposed to be fast vaultable is ridiculous and seriously uncalled for?
4 -
The way I want it is, revert the animation and vault physics to before patch 2.5.0 (momentum change) but still adjust the vaults accordingly to stop unusable vaulting areas. I still prefer the look of the old vault but I don't know why they added this ######### momentum change. All they had to do was adjust vaults like this
