Why I like the buffed Ghost.
Instead of the basic stickied yes/no question, Id like to give a reason to why I like the updated Ghost.
In short. He is a threat to Survivors if they don't play against "him" and his power instead of just treating Ghost as another Killer.
Trapper, Pig, Wraith, Plague, Legion, ANY Killer that needs to default to M1 can all be played against the exact same way as their powers simply do not offer help mid chase or maybe not at all depending on that Killer's conditions. Some Killers need time to setup (Trapper, Hag) and that effort spent can be undone faster than it takes to setup, more can use their powers before or mid chase (Wraith, Pig, Plague, Legion) but can't really end chases with their powers, and others (Doctor) just don't have powers that really help at all around chases. What all of those Killers have in common is that their powers don't do enough to make them stand out and can be countered or played against in the exact same way. Loop them till the game ends. A few might need more than simple loops but the vast majority of the time it the exact same gameplay between all these Killers.
But the better Killers (Nurse, Billy, Shape, Spirit) have powers that Survivors NEED to play around. You can loop a Billy but you need to watch out for chainsaw snipes and his mobility. Spirit is pure mindgames, if you don't play them then she can take you out easy enough. Nurse is just the Nurse, if she is played by a skilled player then the Survivors MUST play around her. Shape starts slow but his power ramps to be unstoppable if Survivors allow him to build up, while also needing to watch out for his built in stealth.
The Ghost is one of those Killers you need to play around HIM instead of just any other default Killer. His stealth and stalking (like Shape) needs the Survivor to always keep an eye out or be at risk. His lack of a red stain in stealth gives him great mindgame potential around high wall loops, forcing Survivors to rethink looping as a whole or take hits. Survivors also need to play around breaking his stealth to prevent the Ghost from making use of it, but that as well can put them at risk in revealing themselves to the Ghost and maybe getting caught out of position.
Ghost is a Killer that Survivors NEED to play around. If they don't respond or react to him, Survivors will suffer. THAT'S what makes a good Killer in my opinion! More Killers should be like this, needing Survivors to respond or react to what Killer is in play more often instead of the other way around and just treating every Killer the same way.

I'm not disagreeing with your primary point, but some of those killers you listed off as a default M1 killers that don't need to be played around aren't very accurate. Plague you need to play around her vomit and fountains. If you just run around in circles around pallets and rush gens then you are going to have a bad time.
With Pig you can't just ignore her reverse bear traps. You need to find the key and get it off or you'll die. She also has some mind game potential with her dashes in loops. With Wraith and Legion, yeah, those two are pretty much loop and gen rush as usual. They might get off an easier first hit, but you don't really do anything fundamentally different against them.
But I think you are confusing the killers overall effectiveness with survivors needing to change their playstyle. Just because a killer isn't top tier doesn't mean that you can ignore their ability.

With Plague, you need to deal with being Broken but a common strat is to never cleanse yourself to deny Plague her Corrupt Purge. So gameplay is still just loop the Plague like normal. Being broken hurts Survivors but they can just make use of the 32m terror radius, red stain, and the Plague's tall height to loop sooner and better.
Pig has some stealth but moves slow while crouched and trying to land an ambush is one of the hardest things to do with her roar starting so early. Plus to put a RBT on someone, you have to down them. Meaning you already been through loops to land 2 hits. Gameplay against the Pig is still nothing but looping the moment you know where she is.
That's my point. You CAN ignore most Killer powers! The only Killer powers you can't ignore are for Nurse, Huntress, Shape, and Spirit. Those you must play around at all times or suffer for it. Every other Killer in the game it is just loop them for as long as possible and "maybe" have to deal with their powers if at all.
That's the entire defining factor for if a Killer is low/mid/top tier. How much Survivors need to react to their power. Top tier needs Survivors to play around the Killer power, mid/low tier is just loop the Killer and maybe play around their power.
