Why is the pallet stun VFX going live?
It's completely pointless and multiple people (myself included) complained of it being uncomfortable and potentially triggering migraines in the PTB feedback forum. At least give us the option to turn it off.

agreed, it's a really bad addition to the game that nobody asked for

Looks like I won't buy him. I was being realistically optimistic despite nerfs/buffs and whatnots, but this was a deal-breaker for me.
11 -
Smh, why in the hell did they think this was a good idea???
10 -
Same. I really don't get it. There was a multi-page thread in the PTB feedback forum where multiple people said the stun VFX could actually prevent them from playing killer.
15 -
Who knows. I have a "theory"...
2 -
I was lurking on that because it really affects me just from watching that whole effect. What's the point of feedback again? I think I'm missing something here and it makes me sad.
3 -
It's not even about the fun factory. Some players here really suffer from migraine from this stupid stun VFX.
12 -
They're pretty inconsiderate as a whole when you factor this and flashlight blinds. Certain flashlight/add-on combos make me turn away from the screen, and I've straight up d/c'd before if I'm getting flashlight spammed. Sudden lighting effects are very debilitating to some people, and they don't seem to care.
1 -
Wait, that annoying flash of light is staying?
I prefer playing in a dark room, so this certainly doesn't please me.
Is it time for my 2nd break from DbD?
3 -
The devs don't listen but nerf Ghostface...
ITS really bad for the eyes if you play Killer a lot for hours per day
2 -
This. I had to actually dc once because of being chain-blind. It actually me violently ill. Even if it's just like a toggle or lessening of the effect, I could maybe stomach it but it's still not enjoyable. This is why I never use flashlights.

This is a joke right?
No one liked that Stun effect. Why is it staying?
7 -
RED STUN BAD, PLS DEVS JUST REMOVE RED STUN NOBODY LIKE
4 -
I'm probably just going to play survivor or not play at all. I not going to play and have to deal with flashing red lights giving me headaches and extra eye strain. Like this goes beyond what people were saying. There are scientific studies that have been done showing that flashing lights, especially red lights, are harmful to people's vision and can aggravate neural disorders.
1 -
This is so stupid that i gotta respond twice.
"We replaced the blinding effect on Killers and made it a cool purple effect instead."
"But also ######### you, here's some flashling lights every time you get stunned."
Not as terrible, but i'm getting Howling Grounds vibes here...

It's Dead By Daylight.
They never listen.

Wasn't the red stun, like, heavily reduced so only the endge of the screen faded in and out? Or is that still too much for some people? I don't mean that with any toxicity, I just though it was reduced enough to avoid this.
I like the red stun flash though, wish there was an option for full stun VFX, after all I'm just looking at floor for half a second, unlike Legion's fatigue where I feel like I'm going blind while trying to keep track of a survivor.

Legitimately made my eyes twitch after playing one round as killer. I can imagine 2 or 3 trials back-to-back would full-on induce headaches. What makes it worse is literally nobody, killer or survivor side, apparently finds this to be a useful or needed addition... so why is it here? Just take the damned thing out already. I'm baffled.

This effect gives me a weird sick feeling, can we get an hotfix or an opt out option please? @Peanits
3 -
The goal with this VFX was to provide more visual feedback and make stuns consistent and understandable. I've talked with Designers and they confirmed that we adjusted the VFX to lessen the impact on players. The live version has a lighter VFX than the PTB version. We'll keep a close eye on that one and I invite you to keep on giving feedback.
6 -
That feeling is motion sickness most likely. Another thing that flashing lights can at times trigger.
1 -
That makes no sense @not_Queen . Killers already knew that they were stunned because the team had designed them to look at the ground and moan in pain. This visual effect just gives players migraines.
12 -
Ahhh. So that's why I throw up. It also triggers panic attacks if you have that sensory sensitivity - fun fact.
1 -
H.. how.. were they not understandable before? Hit by pallet -> killer groan/screen shake -> immobilization -> realization of 'oh I'm stunned'.
What is happening to this game?
13 -
Please, can we have at least option to disable this? This is seriously not funny.
12 -
This. You don't need an obnoxious red flash to know you've been stunned.
8 -
You know you can solve this negative feedback problem very easily by give us a simple option to turn it on and off right?
Was that really hard to ask? Any reason to not having an option?
7 -
You are probably right
@not_Queen can anything be done about this? Like an opt out? Respecting pallets is wrong 95% of the time but that flashing light gives me a weird sick nausea.
Please let this be fixed

Both versions of the VFX is obnoxious and gives me a headache. Almost everyone who commented on it was asking for it to be removed. No one likes this effect no matter what the intentions are.
I'll wait to see what the feedback amounts to but honestly I'm just going to play something else until a final decision on this is made. Regardless though thank you for clarification on the designers goal. Although I can't say I ever struggled to understand I was being stunned even when I initially bought the game.
3 -
And the loud "BANG" coupled with the visual feedback of looking down wasn't feedback enough?
5 -
That answer makes no sense, that's what the stun sound and animation is for, nobody had any issues about visual feedback with stuns, if anything the hitbox was inconsistent at times, but the VFX doesn't fix that issue.
What the hell ?
3 -
cmon behaviour delete that vfx it's ugly and still kinda pointless
6 -
Who do you have playtesting internally that can't understand being smacked in the face with a plank of wood? Because the playerbase unanimously fed back that they understand being smacked in the face with the plank of wood.
Has the company considered not designing/balancing the game around their employees' (apparently fairly 'unique') needs?
Why bother inviting further feedback when the feedback so far has been unanimously against the addition of this effect and it was added anyway? Do you have KPIs on amount of feedback ignored per month that you need to hit?
9 -
I find it really annoying and id like it to be a way to disable just that stun its annoying
0 -
Is stun clarity seriously an issue? I'm not trying to be rude, but that seems to be more of a player issue than a game issue. What we've been saying regarding the VFX is that it's not an issue with luminescence or magnitude, it's that any sudden flash of red at all is highly unpleasant. You can adjust it any way you want, but we're still going to be affected by it. It's such a 2000iq business decision to release a VFX that people are saying is making them sick. We said it was making us sick before and after the adjustment. Y I K E S
7 -
I'm really disappointed that this VFX has made it to the final game. Players said unanimously in their feedback that they don't like this effect, even to the point that it's making some players sick.
This effect is also not needed, since we all know that we have been stunned. I don't understand why the devs didn't listen to the community.
Devs, please remove this VFX.
9 -
How about get rid of the damn vfx that nobody asked for
6 -
Phew! There for a moment I thought I was just randomly staring at the ground, shuddering, groaning, frozen and blocked from moving forward because of a random epic nutting 12x per match. Now I know... and knowing is half the battle.
6 -
Hell, I know I've been stunned because I can see the pallet falling.
0 -
Cuz they absolutely care about feedback, that's why
/S

Not to beat a dead horse, but do you realize how hard it is to have a unanimous consensus on these forums? We're 2 pages in and I don't think 1 person has chimed in saying they like the effect. That's pretty telling.
9 -
I hate it. Get rid of the VHX.
1 -
Everyone hates it. Almost as bad as old flashlight blinds. It’s like our feedback doesn’t matter.
4 -
Terrible reason, the screen shakes and you look in all kinds of directions.
I'd say that's plenty of visual feedback.
A VFX addition also has nothing to do with making stuns consistent.
My feedback: Utterly useless and quite the annoyance, needs to be removed ASAP.
6 -
Also if you want to make any meaningful changes for the game to makes it visually clearer, what about making a colorblind option? way better than having a terrible red effect on stun which serves no actual purposes.
4 -
@Sairek Exactly. I play my M1 killers often with Enduring + Spirit Fury (like a lot of players do) and eat pallet after pallet. And that's the fastest way to get rid of the pallets. But that also means now so many red flashs, it's terrible.

Feel yourself free to add your futile petition to the literally hundreds of people that have already ACTUALLY asked for this.

Can you explain to us more in detail how the previous stun visual was not consistent or understandable? For many of us, the effect of the stun (not being able to move, uncontrollable camera shake, etc.) seems very obvious (as well as frustrating - as it probably should be). I'm not sure what confusion it had created for other players for the immediate need to add even more additional (frustrating) visual cues, especially one that seems to be very unpopular.
